I bought a Gskill Ripjaw KM780R keyboard with cherry Brown switches. I hate it. I thought Brown switched were quiet, and they are till they bottom out. They bottom out and make a huge smacking sound. Also, there is so little resistance in the switches, it goes all the down so easily and it hits hurts my fingers after typing for a while (I type a lot). Which switches are quiet, but also have sort of a bump stop like the suspension on your car? I want to have a little more resistance than the browns give, but not too much, and obviously, not the noise when you press the key all the way down with force.

Quiet switches that make a ton of noise as they are depressed and hit bottom don't count.

Thanks!

For bottoming out the type of switch doesn't really matter, they use the same switches but add o-ring dampeners which are rubbery plastic.

I'd add O-rings. if that doesn't help then Romer-G's or another switch will be your best bet.

O-rings? WTF!? What a great idea! Wonder why no review ever mentioned these? Thanks for the help!

Never mentioned in a keyboard review. I read them all before making the purchase.
These O-rings are awesome. Popped them on today, the keys are quieter and there is more of a cushioned bottoming out.

Thanks again!

Sounds like Cherry Clear switches are what you want. I loved Brown switches but like you, I eventually wished for something with more resistance. I tried Clears a few months ago and they are awesome! It sounds like the O-rings solved the noise part of your issue but if you still feel that Browns are too light and want a switch with similar qualities but more resistance, I highly suggest Clears.

I have the same keyboard and I really like it... the reds are silent but when they bottom out they make a pretty loud clack.. have you thought of getting a cherry switch sampler?

Here is my problem with the sampler: its costs $9.99. Sure it doesn't sound like much, but...I picked up my G610 Brown for 79.99. So if I didn't know what I wanted, I would of spent 12.4% more trying to figure it out. If you are buying $200 keyboards it makes sense, but for bottom barrel people...I normally just recommend they start somewhere. They can always send it back or sell a mechanical keyboard on the forum.

But, that may just be me.
