Vertagear Triigger 350 Special Edition Gaming Chair Review @ [H]

My brother has a Vertagear chair and says he'll never buy any other brand again.

I still can't imagine spending more than $150-$200 on a chair, any chair.

I could possibly convince myself to buy an Autonomous chair at $349, but that just seems excessive, and I'd have real buyers remorse for a long time.

It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that it seems.ludicrous to spend that kind of money on something that just sits there. Not an "active" item.

This is only about $200 less than my Herman Miller Embody chair. Quite pricey for a "gamer chair."

Trust me, if you ever develop back problems you'll gladly pay the $700+ for a chair to eliminate them. There is a huge difference between a $150-$200 chair and a chair that's actually designed to be used all day every day and last for more than a decade while doing it. My Aeron chair was built in the 1990's and got used for upwards of 18 hours a day for years. It still going strong. My fat ass wore out $150-$200 chairs every 3 years or so. Worn bearings in the swivel mechanism, worn through fabric, flattened padding, etc. are things I've never seen in these upper echelon chairs that are common place with cheaper chairs after a few years.

This is why I game + use my PC from my sofa with lots of large feather cushions and a feather pillow for extra back support.
So many positions to get properly comfortable in, bliss!
A big sofa probably helps.

My sofa is large and I removed the rear cushions to get a huge lounging estate.
The feather cushions stack up in any position we like.
Havent had a back problem since and was getting them all the time before (10 ish years ago), sometimes serious.
Feet up gaming on a projector with hi-def surround, pure win.

No sofa I've ever seen has the lumbar support I require.

Feather cushions for general position then a feather pillow works for me.
It can be placed exactly where needed no matter the position I am in and shaped to give best support.

A trip to the back specialist or months of massages cost more than a good chair.

Agreed, but I still think the pricing of these things is inflated. One of those $1,200 Herman Miller chairs can't cost much more than $100 to manufacture. That kind of markup just isn't justified.

I think there is no way to manufacture chairs of these quality for less than $100. Then if you consider warrantying these for 10 years, there is surely a great expense there as well.

My first instinct is to just point and laugh at the tacky gaming chair.

Then I look at my giant, cushy Lazy Boy office chair and realise it's just a different flavour of tacky.

Mine has a nice foot rest and reclines a long way for when my work demands nap-naps.

Still, I'm betting the markup is on the extreme side. There is nothing high tech here. It's just standard metal brackets and knobs. We've known how to mass produce parts like these at relatively low cost since the industrial revolution!
I am going to have to suggest that you might have some experience with one before you make the suggestions you are. I think your opinion is largely uninformed.

One of these days I gotta try out one of these gaming chairs. All I see on twitch streams is people in these.. think mostly dx racer. I too have an Aeron, although I didn't pay the $900-$1200 for it.. I think I paid around $800 for the fully adjustable version, although it is the original version with the thick lumbar support pad vs I think the newer version has a kind of cross mounted pad. I've had the chair now for a good 12+ years and it's still solid other than a few light cuts on the leather arm rests when I swivled the chair into a corner of something.

Anyways, for folks looking at office chairs, especially if you are in the bay area, a lot of times you can find Hermin Millers on liquidation from companies that have shut their doors or are upgrading their office furniture. I've seen Aerons less than a year old and in great condition for like $300.

Way above my budget but what an interesting review. I ended up with a Laz-E-boy office chair for my birthday a little over a year ago and while it's wonderful it does lack some of the nuances this chair has.

Well, an iPhone doesn't cost more than $200 to manufacture - it's the added value of R&D and long-term quality assurance. It's after a couple hours that the difference really begins to show.

One thing I absolutely refuse to skimp on is my own desk chair. On my second Herman Miller now and 100% happy.

That's how I got my Aeron. One of the departments was doing a top-to-bottom renovation and decided to bulk order new chairs from this local brand. Mine was an older version but still rock solid when I bought it a couple years ago.

I read plenty, but the writer of this review was magic, great writers can put you in the shoes of the character, and reading this I felt like I was in the ass of the reviewer. Amazing.
Wow....so that is what that "feeling" was.

A knockoff of the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, with the sliding seat feature of the Leap Chair.

For $900, you can get a real Aeron Chair, top of the line loaded, with fabric of your choice, metal base and frame, and leather Armrests....with a 12 year warranty that they actually honor and will rebuild your chair on site.

Also, Aeron comes in 3 sizes, so the narrow seat problem Kyle had wouldn't be an issue with a correctly sized Aeron.

There are 15 million + Aeron chairs out there. That's a lot of experience for the manufacturer. I find it hard to believe this small company can come anywhere close to the long term durability of a Herman Miller product, nor would I trust them to be around in a decade.

This was my first impression as well: looks like the "tall-back" Aerons I've been using in offices for the past 15-20 years with some different styling (which is definitely not a bad thing). It does also seem this is modeled after one of the narrower versions since my current Aeron is "large" and I fit in it with room to spare (6', 215lbs with a big sqautter's butt/hips).

That said, I do have a knock-off Aeron at home and that thing is built like a tank, definitely as good as the real-deal -- I wouldn't discount this on the quality necessarily. The warranty is another story...

Being I'm 6'1", and built like a decaying line backer, I have so many injuries that I weigh around 440lbs, I'd probably break this chair, and yeah I like to spread My legs too. A church type chair, I guess that is what I have, will support My frame, but the chair I have now is a minor problem. But at least it's sturdy, I can't say the same for the linoleum on the floor.

DX Racer TANK Series holds 600 Lbs, It's what I got when I weighed over 350. Dropped some due to hospital stay tho.

Necro post, sorry... but Newegg has the plain black version on sale now for $699 and that comes with a free headrest included.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA55956W7422

As I was looking at it, I thought aloud... "Didn't Kyle review this chair?" so I came back and re-read the entire article again. Still too rich for my blood but I enjoyed the article once again.

Kyle, it's been over a year now... how's the chair holding up?

Chair had done great. I actually gave it away to a friend a few months ago. No room for all these damn chairs.
