*****If you get this, you may need to update the VBIOS right off. It seems like some folks had issues with the computer locking up even with good temperatures, and the updated VBIOS from MSI fixed that.*****
Yes it's $2399 before rebate, but $1999 after a $400 rebate, which runs May 1st to 31st, for a unlocked i7 (still soldered to the motherboard), AND SLI 1070s in MXM (replaceable) format? That's absurd! Comes with 32GB of 2400MHz RAM, a smaller 256GB NVME SSD, and a 1TB spinner. To put it into more perspective, a refurbished or used 6820HK laptop with similar specs but a single 1070 runs from ~$1600 to $1800 depending on the model. And this one is brand spanking new.
Oh, and the 120Hz 5ms display is G-Sync capable from what I've read. Yes, it's FHD (1080P) and not 4K.
The only warning about this is that you can't return it for a refund - Newegg only allows for exchanges within the first 30 days. So, be sure that this is what you want!
From what I've seen and read, the GT73VR's cooling solution is among the better ones out there. Three heat pipes each for the CPU and GPUs, along with a couple of heat pipes here and there for what I'm guessing to be the VRMs, all cooled by two fans. One fan does take care of both the CPU and one of the GPUs, so that one will likely be a bit hotter.
It does require a two power brick solution, which combine into one with an adapter to feed enough power for SLI. It does make me wish that they just went with a single, large power brick like the 330W bricks of old - but it's got dual MXM 1070s that have slightly more cuda cores than the desktop 1070, so it really is little wonder that two are needed.
The battery is small, but can you even game with SLI enabled on battery? (maybe, for like 20 minutes? HA!)
Storage options do seem a little light for a big 17.3" laptop - two NVME slots and a single SATA III slot under the NVMEs. I think that there might be a third m.2 slot that is SATA III only, but I'm not sure if that isn't just for the model with the i7 7820HK.
Warranty is 2 years, which is quite nice.
