FYI, for those who are considering with replacing your stock SF600 fan with the Noctua be warned, my PSU died on me within 2 days. I went to work and my computer was at sleep then I come back to turn it on after work and nothing. Computer would not turn on and the mobo light never went on either. PSU was sending no power to the computer after turning off/on the PSU. I had to get a new PSU due to this. It did not die under load, it simply died during sleep (or so i think, it could have also died when being awaken from sleep due to USB device, going back to sleep and being awaken every 5 minutes because i have my power sleep settings to sleep in 5 min which is also a high possibility)

Do not do this mod, the PSU was designed specifically for that Corsair's fan voltage and curve, the Noctua completely is not designed for the performance of the PSU nor will it cool it properly as the stock fan does. Remember, they are squeezing a lot of juice in a small box and we are maxing out the PC like no other, so best not to F with a PSU already that small.

I appreciate the warning. I was considering doing this mod but I think I'll pass now.

Too little information here to really know why your PSU died. For how long did you use the Noctua fan? Did it die under load? If so, what kind of load? You should fill in the details.

Updated, sorry.

Even what that update, it's still no proof that's what killed your PSU. It'd be very unlikely for any PSU to die while supplying a "sleep" load, even with NO fan installed. And killing a new PSU due to overheat actually takes quite a while. Many, many hours at full load would really be required to heat things up to the failure point.

sorry to hear that, thanks for the warning.

P.S: you can fix your thread's title, it is SF600 not SD600, from the "thread tools":

If it died during sleep then it wouldn't be unreasonable to rule out the changed fan being a significant factor.

I wouldn't make this claim if I were you without more fact-finding.
