I have this card: http://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1080XTREME-W-8GD#kf and its been really good to me for the last 6 months. I actually don't over clock it, and I leave it at its defaults because I wanted a quite operation over performance. Last few days the screen will crash to black, and the fans will go 100%. The game and the OS still runs because I can hear game sounds and menus. If the card crashes while not in a game, I'm able to hit the power button, and the box will gracefully shutdown. I hear all the normal windows shut down chimes and stuff. When I reboot, it usually comes back online, but I sometimes have to unplug the power to the box after the box shuts down. Other times, I'm greeted with a white bar across the screen. Does this both on my monitor and tv. I attached an image of it. I uninstalled the drivers, and got the latest gforce experience drivers, but the card will still randomly crash the same way. I reseated the card, and made sure the power was connected.

My google fu: https://www.google.com/search?q=1080+crashes+to+black+screen+fans+100%&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 shows a bunch of EVGA folks having this issues, but I have a gigabyte card. I opened a support case and hope to hear back from them.

Anyone else having this sort of issue or experienced one like this in the past? Gut felling tells me the card is on the way out. Thoughts?

Are you on Windows 10 1704 (Creators Update)? If yes, roll back the driver to 381.89 with DDU and see if that fixes the issue.

Temps are good. I have an AMD 9590 with a corsair 115i close loop CPU cooler, and that things never gets above 55C. CPU or Ram isn't over clocked. Defaults all the way. I do IT work professionally, last thing I want to do is syadmin my way to victory at home. The card itself doesn't get above 60C.

Yes I am on the W10 1704 Creators Update. I will roll back to that version of driver. Thank you for the advise!

I uninstalled the latest driver and Gforce Experience, rebooted and Windows auto downloaded and installed 379.something, and my issues vanished. I left it at that for the moment. Was able to play Prey for 2 hours non stop with zero issues.

Thank you for the tip!
