BOINC Pentathlon: Who are interested

Awesome... right now the only GPU capable project that has been announced is Einstein@home. The dates are posted in the thread above. However, if you have CPU's available, those can begin helping now as the challenge starts in a few hours anyways. WCG and Cosmology@home are both starting up.

Where would CPU best help right now? WCG?

WCG most likely. Cosmology is much longer running work and it has two kinds of work. One kind requires virtualbox to be installed and has a lot to be taught to get working well. The other kind works straight out of the box but very long run times.

https://einsteinathome.org/ is one of the GPU projects that's been added. Stats start counting on the 9th so you have a couple days to get your rigs setup. If you're already running the WCG BOINC manager then it's easy to switch them over. I "finished" all my F@H WU's currently crunching. Then opened the WCG - BOINC Manager and added the Einstein@Home project. Changed the settings to utilize 100% of my CPUs (the manager will move CPUs where it needs) and told it to run GPU while computer is in use.

It took me about 30 minutes to switch all 10 of my GPUs to E@H.

Thanks, Skillz! I'll be doing this shortly.

If you're only running E@H you'll be fine, but if you have other BOINC projects then you'll need more settings. I am also still crunching away at WCG while that leg is still going. It was competing for CPU cores over E@H. I ended up using BAM! to change the resource share to 300 (E@H), 100 (WCG) and 100 (WUPROP) so that it will keep the GPUs (at least in my multi-GPU rigs) fed at all times.

Just use process lasso and the app_config I posted to keep the threads fixed. I run 4 E@H tasks (2 per GPU) and 8 CPU threads on my 3770k. The CPU threads are just squeeze down to 4 CPU cores.

Yeah I'll be switching my units over to solo at E@H, at least the GPU rig. The others will be on OpenZika until the 10th then I'm going to be shoving them over to the cosmology marathon, until the sprint comes up. I'm keeping my work queues low so on the 9th (Actually around 9 PM on the 8th for me) I'll toggle it over and in an hour or so past then it'll be working on E@H

We need CPU Power migrated over to Cosmology@home on the 10th. We need GPU's on Einstein@home Now until the 14th for those willing to help. LHC was announced but we probably wont waste our time duking it out in that playground. That will leave one more project to be announced but it will only be a 3 day stint and we don't know the dates yet.

+1.

Calling all GPU crunchers out there for Einstein@home. Now is the good time to crunch and support the team!

Needs inspiration?

Einstein@Home it is, I'll be taking a short break from F@H. Still need to get my 1080Ti's crunching!

w00t w00t, just realized for Einstein@Home I was part of the wrong team, is there no way for us to kill all these fake [H]ard|OCP teams?

No. Glad you're on the right team now though.

lelliot731, If you go to guides and click on the all inclusive DC list, there is a direct link to our team at each project on there if you ever wonder which to choose. Rule of thumb, we use [H]ard|OCP for all the BOINC projects except WCG.

You coming over to E@H? Not seeing your production anywhere but Collatz.

We need ya, Bud!
