Post Your Workstations 2017

I love the looks and idea of that case, very sexy indeed. My only issue is I can't find a good place for it in my setting :( I don't want to put my server in it because, well, it's not very flashy. And I don't want to put my main PC in it because I specifically want a case with dust filters, etc to keep it clean and this open case kinda defeats that purpose...and our house seems to get dusty easily.

Maybe a home theater PC? Although the case is geared more towards gamers (or at least I think so).

My actual workstation in my office:

I actually have that case. I can't speak for your situation, but in mine, a house that until recently had two cats, you don't really end up with dust inside it like a typical case because it doesn't circulate air through it with fans. The enclosed part (inside the black square piece) has a dust filter that does a pretty good job of keeping dust out of that.

Basically, the whole thing is exposed, and collects dust the same way a shelf full of knicknacks would, but you can just blow the dust out with a compressor or canned air every once in a while. It's not like a heatsink where you have to take it apart and clean it with a brush or something.

Edit: Actually, I have a Core P5, which is the full-size model. That one is a little smaller.

Finally took some pictures under better lighting, though as usual I can't take decent pictures in this room.

I really like the look you've created here Zurginator. Could you describe the furniture you used in a little more detail?

Well I designed and built the desk myself, so I'm afraid I can't point you to much information on that (unless you want me to get into actual detail, which I can do). The chair is a Nefil 3D Mesh Executive Chair... but I'm pretty sure you were asking about the desk.

I was hoping that it wasn't all hand made, even if I suspected that to be the case. The wife thought it was cool as hell too, which is farther than I've gotten with anything pre built for the new home's den.

I don't know if I'm good enough to create anything similar but I'd love to hear more details.

Lost my reply to the wind, so instead I'll draft up some plans and post them at some point this weekend.

What desk is that? Also what monitor stand?
The desk is a UPLIFT Height Adjustable Standing Desk Frame - 2-Leg with a custom built top on it (about $60 in lumber, stain and a few days time). If you have the ability, highly recommend going this round as it's a lot cheaper than the tops they sell and you can customize it. For example I have a shelf that I attached to the underside.

The monitor stand is a WSGF Ultimate Desk Stand that I mounted through the desk instead of using the plate as I didn't like how much desk space the plate used up. It's an expensive option for mounting the monitors but rock solid and the only thing big enough for 3 27" screens on a single pole.

Wow this a really nice setup. Very organized and well though out.
slight update from last year. just added some shelves, LED strips and new corsair case. my old speakers failed and temporarily using some old cheap ones

Still a great looking setup. I like the new shelves, and the lighting.

Yeah, about 40 miles north east of Lexington. I'm at West Sixth at least once a week.

Nice. I'm ten minutes south. Not a huge IPA fan anymore, and most of their beers taste like their main IPA, so I stay away anymore. You need to get over to Country Boy, if you haven't already. My favorite place

I'm a fan of some Cougar Bait. I've been meaning to hit up their new place over in Georgetown.

This was at my old job. Fun setup, but I don't miss it.

Current place of employment.

Interesting. I've seen many a P-L-P setup, but never a L-P-L setup. I like it for work purposes. I'm in P-L-P and I find myself usually twisted to the side to do most of my reading, as the portrait screen is great for that.

Indeed, after much experimenting, it's how I settled. On the left I have the web browser and ticket system, which works much better it landscape. On the right is outlook and a couple iseries windows setup to auto-refresh system info, such as what's running in batch and how much server cpu s being used. The middle works best in portrait because it's where I do most of my programming and build and use queries, and I can see a lot more code and data at once this way.

My freshly re-vamped workstation. The desk has 3 LG 4k monitors, powered by the cube on the left. The smaller monitor on the right is for status information. It's not a gaming rig - only a GTX 1060, but it has dual X5680 processsors for 12c/24t at 3.33ghz, and 48gb ram.

The TV runs off an i7-950, with an RX-470 4gb for 4k resolution.

"Akuma", my PC. It uses a server motherboard which apparently doesn't have S3 resume, so I have to use hibernate. That's why it's perched up there in easy reach - I need to use the power button.

The mixing board lets me connect the 2 PCs and a RaspberryPi running piCorePlayer for streaming audio from my Squeezebox Server. The "rack" is an Ikea Lack side table.

My workbench, made from Ikea parts, caught in mid project.

The TV computer. Mainly used for movie/youtube/streaming to the TV while I'm working on something.

Matrixfy Love the Ikea side table conversion. (y)

Thanks!

There are 2 of them - one down the side and one across the back. They're made from 98" SALJAN countertops, an Alex drawer unit, a bunch of $5 ADILS legs, and 2x4 to height match with the existing desk.

*edit* Aaaaand you were probably talking about the Lack Rack. I can't take credit for that one :)

If you don't mind me asking what parts make up that desk?

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say its a "Linnmon / Alex Dark Table, black-brown, gray", Ikea part number 290.472.57

At least in Canada, anyway. The drawers are a little different - maybe an older model? The US Ikea site shows the same version as the Canadian model with 5 drawers instead of 4. Its the difference between using the "Alex drawer unit" and the "Alex drawer unit / drop file storage".

I... may have spent too much time on Ikea's site when I was building my own desks. :p
