google assistant availability

Anyone know whats going on with google assistant availability?

I have the galaxy s7 and my buddy has the galaxy s7 edge and he got GA but I dont have it yet.

I force updated the google play services because my area should be GA ready as my buddy has it. This did not work.

He does travel a lot to places like NYC and I wonder if he picked up the activation in another location.

I doubt they are activating it on an individual basis.

anyone have any thoughts?

It's not location based, unless you're outside the US. Did you have Google Now enabled in the first place?
