Any desktop disc jockeys out there? Would love to hear what you spin and the gear you play on.

In my case, genre-agnostic (though I have a soft spot for progressive house), Traktor Kontrol S4 and a couple of SL-DZ1200s.

And dabble with Serato as well:

I DJ at our yoga studio, on an early 2009 Macbook and Numark Mixtrack 3. The Numark is a toy, but it does what I need it to do...basically just control Virtual DJ, all I do is mixing / blending, no real fancy stuff. I play mostly downtempo, deep house, "psybient", ambient, etc.

Cool! I like those little controllers. I had an NS7 several years back. Sold it, because I quickly realized lugging around 35 lbs was not gonna happen :). Big fan of your genres too.

Need new ear pads on the headphones.

Ever use this free software?

http://mixxx.org/

I haven't, but it seems pretty cool, especially for free... DVS support, and Traktor and iTunes library imports. Love that it's open source. It seems there's some conversation going on about what the software does to the sound quality of audio files, but that may be limited to earlier versions. I appreciate the link... I'll take a look at this further.

I never noticed any altering of audio SQ. Only issue is I changed sound cards and can no longer use ASIO but Mixxx gives me an error about Asio not being available even though I am not using Asio.

Cool, I'm gonna play around with this over the weekend. What controller are you using in front of it?
