1080ti Pre-order, Retail, and AIB availability watch

Picked up a non-xtreme Aorus on Newegg. Still in stock as of this post for $719. Xtremes are in and out if you're quick.

Microcenter is absolutely killing me. I don't know if the website inventory system for my local store is not accurate or they really just haven't had any availability. I need an AIB custom card, but even on the FE they never show any stock. I check 2 to 10 times daily.

Have been using the integrated graphics on my i7-7700k since the 20th of last month and that Mass Effect Andromeda icon is just staring me in the face daily. Yeah, first world problems, I know.

this release blows
I've probably wasted 6 hours just refreshing or setting up alerts and have squat to show for it

This is very reminiscent of the time I tried to get San Diego Comic Con tickets online.

I had no trouble seeing plenty of cards in stock over the last couple of weeks. In fact I ordered the MSI gaming X a couple days ago and it will be here Thursday.

Yeah I saw a 2 hour old alert for the Aorous on Newegg and it was still there. I'm not after that model but I could have easily bought one.

This kind of release is par for the course when you have a popular new top-end card and AMD has nothing. Just more demand.

Gigabyte non-reference for $699.99 @ Newegg.

All these sexy cards are making me want to replace my Titan X :dead:. Especially coupled with the fact the EVGA Hybrid kit apparently went up for sale while I was commuting home last night and sold out in less than 5 minutes...
When is the 1080ti MSI Sea Hawk coming out?
It's already out in the EU and UK from what I've seen. Someone on Reddit posted an unboxing. No idea when it will be available in the US.

Got the card installed this evening. This thing is a beast, so ****ing huge! Barely fits in my case, lol. It's also silent, so beautifully silent. Will be selling my PNY GTX 1080 TI FE card to a friend this weekend. Aftermarket cards are so worth it over the founders edition.

That's an RVZ02, right? I have the same case and was wondering if the Gaming X would be too wide for it or not. Good to know it fits though. What kind of clearance are we talking about for the fans up against the vent? I leave my filters on, so I'm assuming that wouldn't cause a problem?

Did you get the card from Newegg? My plan is to get it too when it is in stock and sell my FE card.

Yeah i guess it depends which one you go for as well. They all seem to be hard to get but some border on impossible.

I tried for asus strix, then aorus xtreme and now i guess im on evga ftw3 unless i can get a strix before then.

I got a ftw3 preordered as well. Disappointed in EVGA's delayed release, hoping to find a good aib sooner or even better a Hybrid.. c'mon Sea Hawk!

Theres little "bumper" stickers on the inside of the case cover. I had to remove them. We are talking 0.5mm clearance here. I actually run my PC with the cover off. My case sits behind my speakers and my monitor so it's out of reach from 2 curious cats lol. Temps are a good 5-8C better with the cover off.

Got it from newegg. Wasn't even trying really. Saw it in stock randomly on Saturday, added to cart without even thinking about it.

TPU review of the Aorus Xtreme. Looks to be on par with the other offerings out there. I would expect the non-xtreme version to basically be the same since it's the same pcb and cooler.

You can get that model. I missed the strix over the weekend and that's the model I'm going for this round. I was hoping there would be a waterblock for it since there's already one for the EVGA (we can't do thermal pads right) FTF3 edition

Anyone have experience with pre ordering graphics cards from B&H Photo?

Ha, I came on here to ask the same question. Specifically, I pre-ordered the FTW3 at $749, and an hour later I see it's now $769. Which price will they charge me when it ships?

Their pre-order has been up all day, kind of has me worried. Should have run out of stock by now.

B&H is the shit.. They are one of if the the best online e-tailor out there. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of CPU and television/electronics from them. Never had an issue. They rock!

Why would a pre-order run out of stock? They can always order more cards.

Limited supply by EVGA, when Newegg's pre-orders went up for the EVGA 1080 Ti cards they were OOS within 12 hours.

B&H's pre-order is still up for the EVGA cards. Makes me suspicious. I hope they come through for me because no sales tax and free shipping makes it a killer deal.

Are people still willing to pay upwards of $800 (up to $850 in extreme cases) for a AIB card now the the Titan Xp has been announced?
I think aftermarket cooled cards are caught in the middle now.

Hard to say until some benchmarks start coming out. The Xp could be 10% faster for twice the cost and a sales flop. Or it could come out 40% faster and be a huge success.

I mean, you can get one of the better AIB options at $749. Whether you consider that pushing $800 or not is a glass-half-full thing. Even then you're still looking at $450 less than a Titan XP 2.0 for what will be something like a 10% performance difference.

That said, people in the market for Titans are in it for having the fastest card available, period. Cost isn't a factor for them. Nvidia knows this, and keeps the price high for the marginal gains because those people will buy it regardless. It's the definition of a halo product.

10% isn't enough, but 20% faster would be compelling at 4K. 100fps vs 120fps or 50fps vs 60fps. Those differences matter.
If Pascal were monster OC chips like Maxwell then this new Titan would be a flop.

I cancelled my EVGA preorder. This will be here tomorrow and is the right length.

Dual 1080ti would still be a better expense option imo, for the top games that utilize it. Dual 1080ti AiB cards = $1500... single titan $1200 - $1400.

I'll be getting a few 1080ti ICX (FTW or SC2) with their full mid plates to use with my nzxt AiO brackets + corsair H90 140mm's like I did with the nzxt G10 brackets on my 780ti sc acx's.

========================
Pretty interesting article.

One thing of note is, if you run Doom in non Vulkan, it does support SLI. I am not sure if the person doing that article knew it or not though.

I'd throw that whole review out. It's obviously biased.

if your performance were a car it would be more like...
It goes the speed of other cars 20% of the roads, but 80% of the roads it goes 25% to 90% faster.

That Babel site refused to run direct x 11 mode on many of those games which require it for sli scaling support, and they also refused to do simple known sli enabling workarounds/profiles on others... and also seemed to have missed some sli enabling patches on others. It seems very biased considering this. Google the titan pascal sli and gtx 1080sli benchmark sites to get a more fair look.

http://www.techspot.com/review/1195-palit-geforce-gtx-1080-sli/page4.html

"Though we mostly focused on games that support Nvidia’s multi-GPU technology, these also happen to be some of the most popular PC games released as of late. On average SLI enabled 63% more performance -- or 71% if we ignore Ashes of the Singularity. We'd call that a solid score for SLI scaling.

Granted, this may not convince many to spend another $600+ on a second GPU but in a good number of scenarios at 4K, it pushed performance from playable to smooth-as-silk.

Overall, while I'm not generally a big advocate of multi-GPU technology, it does make sense here assuming that you can afford it.
The 4K gaming experience delivered by these cards is the best I have seen yet. For those willing and able to drop four figures on this GPU configuration, you won’t be disappointed with the results."

http://techbuyersguru.com/4k-gaming...1070-sli-vs-1080-sli-vs-titan-x-pascal?page=4

"All told, both Titan X Pascal and modern-day SLI make playable 4K framerates the rule rather than the exception. But alas, TBG's motto is "bringing tech to light," and sometimes that means shining a harsh light on chasing the limits of technology for technology's sake. As we've shown, you can certainly game at 4K with SLI or the Titan X Pascal, and enthusiasts no doubt consider 4K benchmarks to be the ultimate test of a modern gaming PC's mettle. The problem inherent in this approach is that 4K gaming may in fact not be the end-all-and-be-all of modern PC gaming. That's because 4K monitors are currently limited to 60Hz, and throughout our testing, it was painfully obvious that our overall gaming experience on our 27" 4K monitor wasn't nearly as good as it is on the Acer 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor we typically test with. Yes, the added resolution is nice when you're sitting still admiring the scenery, but once the action starts up, the tearing, lag, and just plain sluggishness of a 60Hz monitor rears its ugly head."

------------------------------------------------------

Practically every game I play on the GoTY and top pc games of 2016, 2015 and top pc games of all time lists supports SLI once the dust settled on patches and drivers. The only one I miss it on is forza 3 personally.

If you aren't getting at least 100fps-hz average (~ 70 - 100 - 130+ fps-hz band), you aren't getting any appreciable benefit out of a high hz monitor. DP 1.4 144hz 3440 x 1440 and 3840 x 2160 monitors due out later this year.
Pretty meaningless unless you feed it new, unique frames of action anyway.
We are just getting to the point (since titan pascal) where on the most demanding games a top end single gpu can do 100fps-hz average or so at 2560 x1440, sometimes requiring some features to be turned off in the game settings at that. And that is an average in a sort of vibrating blend +/- 30fps all over the place seconds to seconds so has half of the mix being 70 to 100 or so depending on the game(see example graph). You don't get really appreciable blur reduction and motion definition increases until you are around at least 100fps-hz (fps and hz) average so much below that you are getting no appreciable benefit out of a high hz monitor even if it was 300hz. Some old source games and other simpler games and some isometrics can get well over 200fps average though of course.

Both unreal engine and work on final fantasy XV are implementing SLI support, and I'm assuming the sequel to shadow of mordor.. so there should be a lot of titles going forward.

With unreal engine going for HDR and sli support there should be a lot of games in the future that support SLI just on that engine alone.

The above quote is wrong. Batman Arkham Knight doesn't support SLI in anyway shape or form. It's funny as it's supposed to be a poster child for NVIDIA's Gameworks features but SLI is broken beyond recovery or so says the developer. I call bullshit because it's Unreal engine based, but that's another topic.

The new unreal engine 4.15 support for HDR and SLI directly could carry through to the better games and developers for PC. I don't know how well that dev supports PC. Personally I'm really looking forward to the better upcoming titles on those lists. The list of games capable of benefit is quite large already though and well worth sli to me personally, especially at 120hz+ on a 2560x1440 or higher where you need to dial in at least 100fps-hz average to get any appreciable benefit out of the high hz.

I now wonder if the Titan Xp can out overclock the custom ti cards.

I now wonder if the Titan Xp can out overclock the custom ti cards.
The higher core count on the Xp will probably limit its overclocking potential, but I have a feeling it's instead going to hit the same power wall that all Pascal chips run into.
