Palmer Luckey leaves Oculus

They've got Carmack now, maybe realizing how much he was being helped. He doesn't seem to have been doing much in the last year or so while we see Carmack starting to work his magic.

I hope this has more to do with the lawsuit and not his political views. If Zuckerberg pushed him out for political reasons, i will never buy an oculus product.

Mr. Luckey’s last day at Oculus, the virtual reality startup Facebook acquired three years ago, is Friday, a Facebook spokeswoman said. She declined to explain the reasons behind his...

Regardless of what his views are, the way in which he chose to push them was fairly disgusting.

I would imagine this has more to do with the fact that he probably doesn't have much to offer the company at this point.

He's basically dead weight and bad PR at this point. His posts online at places like reddit while the delays were happening at launch just made the community rebel against him. He had horrible ways of communicating with the public and caused nothing but trouble since the FB purchase. Executives probably told him, "Listen, you're young, rich and can do anything in the world. Here's a fat payday and let us take care of things.". Palmer still has a lot to learn so his leaving is probably the best thing for him at this point.

I mean shit why not, if I was in his position I wouldn't work a day in my life. Go fly around the world and do whatever the fuck I want. He's got maybe 56 years to go, he could spend $30K/day for the rest of his life and be ok. I'd do that for about 5 years before deciding on a new place to settle down anonymously and by then everyone would have forgotten I exist.
