Hey guys, I will confess that I am far from keeping up with SFF on a daily basis so I am going to reach out to the braintrust here.

I am looking to building a couple of mobile VR boxes. Talked my business partner in Inside VR out of going with laptops, so we can shoehorn in a GTX 1080 Ti.

So this is what we need. 7700K (stock clocks), GTX 1080 Ti, and a single SSD. That's it. :)

What is the smallest most affordable off the shelf package that I can put these together with today? Thanks!!!

Hmm, that depends. Let me ask you a couple questions:

1) Which of the two requirements takes priority? Small, or cheap?

2) What are you using them for? If you're turning them into backpacks, a console-shaped case will be a lot more comfortable than a cube, even if it's larger.

I just put that all in the Ncase M1 tonight, but that likely isnt doable with the time it takes to ship, and the price isnt cheap.

Don't want cheap, but don't want expensive. Need something built well, durable, in stock in the USA.

No, not backpacks. Just mobile to move space to space. Will be loaded and moved around.

Nope, not on the list. Need off the shelf in the USA.

You'd mentioned needing a 7700k at stock clocks - just point out that the i5 is marginally slower. That being said, it should work just fine for your needs.

As strange as it sounds, I suggest buying that case in the garish pink color they offer. It'll mean that when you're the only one left in the office, burning the midnight oil, you aren't going to have to look very hard to find the VR machines. (And it'll be real easy to notice someone trying to walk out the front door with one.)

You don't need that expensive of a motherboard, if you're still trying to shave a little cost; the AsRock H270M-ITX/ac is $96 on Newegg, comes with everything you need.

What GPU are you going to use? You don't have one listed.

Other than that, it looks good!

Yeah, 7600 should do just fine.

Good point on the pink case.

I have the motherboard here from a review that I will use.

1080Ti.
