Going from ASUS to Gigabyte AORUS Z270X-GAMING K7

I, too, am interested in hearing others' opinions on this board.

Wise move.

Every asus board I have had has gave me problems, every gigabyte board I have had was a pleasure to work with and own.

In my opinion gigabyte boards are more stable but as they say, opinions are like assholes.

Thanks, I am in the process of my build, I will keep you updated. The board is simply GORGEOUS! and packed with features.

Unfortunately, my vendor had only the 'K7' version (as opposed the '7' version, which included ThunderBolt, and Creative Audio), therefore it was $40 cheaper.

Can't wait to turn it on!

Thanks! stay tuned!

OK the build is finished, but I am baffled. No settings in the BIOS (to change S1, S3, etc.) and I have triple checked my connection to the MoBo. The Corsair Logo in front of case does not blink when in sleep mode. This is on a Windows 10 x64 and my system config is in the signature.

Thanks!

OK Guys,
Here are some images, it was actually finished last week, but I just got a chance to upload them this morning!

Notice the replica of Prosthetic Arm - Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain *inside* the case! (clutching a Verbatim 16GB 'Dog-Tag' shaped USB!) :)

My 3X ASUS MG248Q (144Hz) Gaming Setup

Overclocked to 5.0GHz and running SOLID! This board is amazing! (as well as the Corsair 570X TG case!)

Sick case! I have the Phantek Evolv Tempered Glass one, and love it as well. But your case is really nice.

I just got my new motherboard in today, Asus Maximus Formula IX. I hope it doesn't have issues like some of you are saying. I had an MSI the last 4 years and it was nothing but weird issues.

Good job, keep us posted, and upload some pics of the finished build!

About my only complaint on moving from my ASUS Maximus Ranger VIII to my current Gigabyte GA-Z170MX Gaming 5 is that the fan control is WAY less precise / granular. It's quite annoying, actually. Both in the BIOS and in software, and their software suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

The Gigabyte 7 has Thunderbolt, as well as the Creative Sound Core, where as K7 has the Realtek 1220. Now interestingly... I can't find a single difference between the K7 and the 5. If you go to Gigabyte's site and do the comparison, the K7 and the 5 seem like they are exactly the same... with both having the BCLK chip, same color sceme, same ports, features etc...
