Multiple zone htpc?

Just moved my pc to the livingroom for an htpc tv vive setup. Have a second zone with an avr and monitor at my desk. There have been setup headaches but everything is pretty much working.

However there have been a few things I haven't found good solutions for and would like some advice rather than install a bunch of questionable software.

Sound switching. Single output switching is annoying but works. Between the vive and ds4 grabbing control randomly it gets old between 4 common use outputs. Anything better less clunky?

Also, anyway I could have basic functions available on second monitor while someone is gaming on tv with ds4 or on the vive? Web surfing or even an a/v player? I can use the second monitor for cpu and gpu monitors but no control when the game starts.

Hmm i wonder if you could drive the second location through the igp HDMI....??? The way I get around this though is through using plex server on the main rig and transcode junk over the local network to different devices like Roku's or built-in apps on tv's, but probably not exactly what you are looking for.

Yea I'm trying the single central pc with multiple keyboards and monitors. I need a full pc in 2 places. A media stream box doesn't cut it. I want my monitor as primary but steam needs the tv primary to mirror vr. It can switch but it messes up sound
If I could get sound control from both monitors it would be enough but clock icons are only on primary.

Depending on your use case for the workload you might be able to setup a VM with minimal resources and allocate independent resources to the second monitor. I am pretty sure you can allocate resources to sound and devices directly to that VM with VMware workstation for example:

That might be worth checking out. I wouldn't be able to game on it but would solve the other issues.
