What kind of stuff you looking for, like what does it need to be able to do at a minimum? Depending on the answer I might have some stuff you can have for free.

And a location would be really good if you're looking for cheap, at least which state.
 
Holy shit. For what it's worth, i'm 23 now. I had a really shitty childhood with a stepfather that thought I was the worst part of his life and wanted me gone, to say the least, along with my siblings. I began self harming at around 13, back before the internet was super mainstream, back before tumblr existed/anyone knew about it. I was mentally ill. It took me until being removed from that house at 16 to realize shit gets better, but it does. Please do anything to get your nephew help, it honestly will be what makes or breaks everything. Feel free to PM if you need anything/have questions/whatever

I have a good bit of 2010 era components i could send your way cheap if you're interested.

I don't know for certain. I figured I could afford something along the lines of a used FX-6300 and then build around it for a simple little basic setup. Maybe just a old 5850 as graphics or it's nvidia equal. It was in my mind as being around those items in price ranges and strength. Just a really budget setup in a new case

Ok, well I don't have a 6300 but I do have an FX 4300 you can have for free, I'll even throw in a little Cryorig air cooler with it if you want it. Not sure if thats something you'd be interested in.
 
I have a Hyper 212 LED (Red) Heatsink/Fan I can donate for the cost of shipping. It was used for about 2 weeks until I pulled it out and went with liquid cooling. PM me if interested.

Totally appreciate what you're doing for him and just know that what the boy needs is a Man in his life whose going to walk with him no matter, whose dependable, and most importantly trustworthy. That kind of relationship takes a lot of time and effort to build (years), and he's probably afraid to build it because he thinks he'll probably just be let down again. A gaming computer will certainly be a distraction and a great tool to connect with, but your care/love/time will be what's truly valuable. I wish you the most/greatest degree of success possible and encourage you to fight for the kid where others haven't.

The build I have is pretty much complete and just missing a hard drive. It'll run most games 1080p on medium settings, though games like planetside 2 will probably need to be low (that game is a beast when the firefights start). I also have a 120GB SSD I could format and install windows on. That's not a lot of space, but enough for 2-3 large games. Unfortunately I do need to get some money out of it and it sounds like money is in short supply. It sounds like some of the very generous members of this forum might be able to rally and gift you some parts potentially.
 
I have 2x4gb set of ddr3 1600 ripjaws you can have. I won't be able to ship it until Friday though.

Edit:I also have an old Ultra 600 watt power supply. It works but I would not trust it's reliability long term.

Hopefully someone can donate a better one.
 
I have a few parts that I can send/donate mostly peripherals, some fans, coolers and a g602 mouse if needed. I believe I also have a 8GB kit DDR3 1600.
 
I have a HD6850 video card you can have for free. I am cursed trying to sell it on Ebay (3 times it sold and 3 times they pissed off without paying) so I am done with it. It's not going to run the latest and greatest with all the eye candy but for stuff that's a couple of years old, it's perfectly fine. You'll need a PSU with a PCIE power connector. I can throw in a HDD as well if that'd help. Probably a 250-300GB spinner. LMK via PM.
 
I have a brand new Asus Maximus VI Hero with I/O plate that I'll sell to anyone for $115 shipping included. Might have the book for it as well. It's literally never been used. I tested the board recently and it does work perfectly. Has zero hours on it.

I bought it and the client changed his mine on the brand of motherboard, went with a cheap MSI which was surprising cause the guy has expensive tastes. I've had it close to or about 2 years+

This might be a good choice for you since you should be able to find the cpu cheap enough since it's a slightly older board.

Man... I saw this thread this morning and left the tab open so I'd remember to offer up some component donations when I got back from class, but in that time you got almost an entire machine lined up. I don't have any AM3+ boards lying around, but I'm happy to help pitch in for one if need be.

It's a great thing you're doing, and I'm glad to see you're getting so much support for it. Love this community. :)
