PSU causing video card to whine?

I don't have another PSU that test, and before I buy a new one, I wanted to see if this is even logical. I've had three different cards in the past few years all have some coil whine with this PSU. They have all been Zotac cards and I sort of wrote it off to the board or caps being lower quality. However, I just bought a really nice Zotac 1080 Amp Extreme and it started to whine. At this point I'm thinking the PSU is causing this and was curious if this is even a thing. The PSU I have is an relatively older inexpensive 1000w Bronze cert Cooler Master.

What do you all think?

Possible in theory, but no way to prove it easily without either a lot of oscilloscope time, or getting a different PSU to test with.

Could be a PS. You didn't mention if the MB changed but could be due to regulators on the MB being poorly filtered or out of spec. Do the Zotacs whine in a different PC?

I thought Zotac was kind of infamous for making whiney cards? But that should be easy to test. Either put the gpu in another computer or test with a different psu in your computer. Can also be worth a try running with the case open so you can listen to locate which component is making the whining in the first place.

If Vsync is an option for you, try to use it. Or, try to configure the games you play so that there's an FPS cap at like 60-120.

IIRC Corsair PSUs liked to whine with certain GPUs. I know all of my Corsairs would, anyway. It is not a sign of a problem.

Some say it's possible to put dabs of hot glue or some sort of sticky tape on components such as coils both on the card as well as inside the PSU. I've read some success stories.

First, though, I would simply try the usual - a different power cable, re-seat your wires, try disabling power saving features (CPU and GPU).

Also, in my case, even the mouse would emit a slight whine.
