What's been the most relaxing game you've played of late?

Being as it's flu season and all I of course, got sick last week. It was especially painful because I didn't really have a game I could relax and enjoy without it being too high stakes, too brainpower heavily or too intense. I could only sit there and be miserable.

I think a lot of indie games are good for that like OXENFREE or LIMBO but I don't have anything like that kicking around at the moment. I tried to play XCOM: Enemy Uknown but the minute the game opened up and I had to manage a bunch of crap it became too much. Civ seems like its out for the same reason.

I hear Mad Max is kind of a dick around playground game I've put that and this indie game Lucidity on the backburner just in case.

Do you guys have a genre game list for relaxing or can you only relax with intense shooters and what not? What recent game have you found to chill and play?

What about Journey or ABZU? Doesn't get much more chill than that, but still challenging to find all the secrets.

Destiny except for the 30 FPS I just love the opening music in that game.

RE7. Liked the exploration although I wish it had had a little more depth.

Wasn't particularly scary.

Anything made by Crows, Crows, Crows like

The Stanley Parable (including demo since it is its own thing)

Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist,

Ikaruga.

Jk.

I'm really enjoying FF15. I can play for however long I want, and there isn't an iota of stress when running around doing shit in the game.

Diablo 3. I have one of those "MMO" mouses, so I literally just lean back and blow through hordes of demons single-handedly.

Titan Quest is still my "zone-out" game of choice.

Grim Dawn is great but I've been playing TQ for over a decade so I just mindlessly click and instinctively know what I'm doing heh.

Sounds like something I need to try then.
It's the best platformer game i've ever played. The difficulty ramps up nicely and you never feel frustrated over some intentionally bs part of the game or grind. Just a nice steady flow as you progress. And again, its beautiful. There are 2 versions, get the remastered one as it fixes a few things and ads some new areas. It's like $6 on G2A also.

Night in the Woods. Outside of the "game within a game" Demontower, it's entirely plot based and anything that involves any action whatever is optional.
It's been a great way to relax and I really enjoy the way it approaches topics that aren't usually addressed in video games.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Antichamber
Dear Esther
Euro Truck Simulator 2
American Truck Simulator
Kentucky Route Zero
Never Alone (wonderful platformer)
PixelJunk Eden
PixelJunk Shooter
Spintires
The Tiny Bang Story
To the Moon
Universe Sandbox
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux

Another EXCELLENT game that not a lot of people know about. I have never been so consumed/lost by a gameworld. Beautiful game, has some of the best textures around. Extremely simple game too.

Astroneer. Kinda like minecraft, but in space. It is strangely addictive. Plus, it's pre-alpha on steam, but it does not have any real major "deal breaking" bugs. And they are pretty active in releasing new versions. Been playing for months, and it's just fun.

Honestly, in recent memory probably No Man's Sky.

When the game was going my way and didn't get repetitive... Exploring new planets and naming new creatures was quite relaxing and fun.

Turn based 4X games are always relaxing to play, then there is always chess.

I recommend this 4X space game that is sort of like MOO2 and won't break the bank.

BeamNG - You can't get more relaxing than a game with no goals (as of yet). Just enjoy the physics and do whatever you want.
Transport Fever - Finally a true spiritual successor to Transport Tycoon. Even if it had/has it's flaws, it's a most relaxing experience.
Defense Grid - Altough I haven't played it in a while, but I have at least 100 hours in it, the best tower defence game ever (forget the sequel, it's not nearly as good)
Fallout4, Skyrim SE - Find Bethesda RPGs extremely relaxing, doesn't even feel like action games to me, just exploration games. Love to wonder around in the world and find places, especially Skyrim is good at this.

I'd call mad max more satisfactory than relaxing. The combo system and the flow of fights is brilliant. Would get extremely repetitive if not for the excellent level design.

No Mans Sky for sure (practically the worlds biggest sandbox/screenshot generator) and another vote for Ori.

Spintires
In that case then
Hyper Light Drifter, or maybe some Elastomania :)

Monkey Island 1/2 (remastered editions)
Continuum (free on steam)
YooT ToweR
Katamari Damacy (played through an emulator with the timer disabled)

Another for
Euro Truck Simulator 2
American Truck Simulator

Thirded for Ori

Rim World or Total War: Warhammer which is half off on steam

Might seem strange but I find Skyrim to be very relaxing especially when you just go out walking in all the different areas.

Am I going to be slapped for suggesting To The Moon?

To The Moon is a beautiful game but not everyone wants to go on a feels-trip when trying to relax :D

The new Hitman has been my go-to relaxation game. No time limit and multiple paths to victory allow me to just mess around in the world at my own pace and come up with new and creative ways to eliminate targets.

Euro Truck Simulator 2
American Truck Simulator
Unless they patched the ai since I last played, those games are not relaxing at all, the traffic ai is completely unrealistic and annoying.

play stardew valley, be a farmer and spend as little or much time as you want, foraging, farming, fishing, mining or building relationships.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the OP isn't still ill after all this time..! :p

...but that said, can't believe Guild Wars 2 has not been mentioned yet!?

This has to be my number one goto chill-out game bar none. It's an MMORPG sure, but you can just do whatever the hell you want in whatever you want. I've been playing it for 4+ years now roughly and I reckon I've only touched on half of what it has to offer in its entirety.
