gtx 1080/1070 mounting holes

Hey zUg_zUg .. you get an answer to your question about the mounting hole distances on the Geforce GTX 10 series cards yet? I've been searching this info too and have not came up with any "solid confirmed info" yet, just people basically guessing or stating things like "I think it's the same as....", and that is no help, it's a "need to know" question for anyone ordering VGA heatsinks, etc..

I have a GTX 1070 (FE), but I cannot really measure the distances due to it's back-plate & my setup. I found a VGA heatsink that is rare here in the US, prob anywhere really as it's a discontinued model, but trust me, it has the ability to cool high-end video cards, the GTX 1060, 1070, 1080 easily, the place has "two left" in stock, begged the guy to hold "one" for 2 days & I would order it, just needed to find some info on mounting config, he emailed me today asking if I still wanted it to be held? I replied yes... tomorrow is my last day.

The mounting hole distances I need are for the GTX 1060 (3 gb edition), but I believe it's probably the same as the 1070/1080 too. Does anyone know?

I have reached out to nVidia, I know a few people there well, but I just emailed them about an hour ago, so no answer til tomorrow earliest.

What I found so far, but has yet to be "confirmed" is >> 58 mm distance, 61 mm distance, and someone stating it's the exact same as the GTX 780 mounting holes. I tried measuring using a tape measure, but it ONLY had inches on it and it was between 2 1/4 (2.25 inches) to 2 1/3 (2.33 inches), but that's not accurate enough, it's hard to "eyeball" the difference between 58 mm to 61 mm, and even if off my only 1 mm, there is no room for adjustments, it's gotta be spot on. I paid $219.99 for this GTX 1060 3 gb edition, I had items posted @ Craigslist for sale and explained why it was for sale, that I was building a new AMD Ryzen 1800x 8 core w/ ASUS Prime x370 motherboard and had two GTX 1060's to go in for SLi. Someone contacted me begging me to sell him just my heatsink, he offered me $175.00 for it, so I jumped all over that, but now I need a replacement if I want to use SLi.

I took an AMD FX heatpipe heatsink (the one that comes w/ the AMD FX 8350 / 8370) and this may sound weird, but I whipped out the dremel tool and took the GTX 1060 I had w/ no VGA heatsink, centered it where it need to be on my GTX 1060, took a marker and marked thru the holes onto the heatsink base, got the dremel tool out and modified it. It now rests on my GTX 1060 graphics card, I have spare moffet type ram sinks that came w/ a DeepCool Dracula VGA cooler left over and a 2 yard roll of 3M 8805 thermal tape and connected them to the other chips on the GTX board that needed to be cooled as well as the ram. Thing is, the height of the AMD heatpipe heatsink will not allow me to add my second GTX 1060, so I want this VGA cooler I found, was hoping it will be a "direct fit mounting hole wise" .. but I don't know that answer, regardless.. I will probably get it if I don't find the info or even if it doesn't match up, I'll just modify it to work.

Truthfully I would keep this AMD heatpipe heatsink on it if running just a single card, my idle temps are @ 79º F, under stress from PC gaming / 3Dmark, temps go to 121º F, using FurMark stress testing, temps have reached 127º F, all of which is very good temps. If I could control the AMD fan speed, they'd be lower, or if I have a fan that plugged into the GTX 1060 fan plug.
 
yeah no one has provided an answer. I have some universal swiftech vga blocks but they dont make the mounting plate for the 10 series cards. I have 2 of them from when i water cooled my gtx 460s. sucks that they are just in a box going to waste. still holding off on a full block for the 1070 though. most go for like 140 bucks right now.
 
I've got an MCW82 block as well. It worked fine on an RX480, but the MCW82 was overwhelmed with the heat coming off the 480. The MCW82 is in my box-o-junk collecting dust as well. Haven't checked if it fits on my 1070. I'm also shopping around for a full cover block for my 1070. The bitspower block for the 1070 is out of stock @ PPCS at a price of $187.

Amazon has it but it's a hefty $215 :sick:. Noway imma pay that price.
 
the thermaltake pacific is like 130 with a backplate on amazon. check that out. swfitech has theirs for around 100 without the backpalte. i might go with one of those options.
 

Im pretty sure it would fit.. i was going to use the older mcw60 model that i have the m80 ? upgrade bracket for it to work on i believe the gtx8800 cards.. those i believe have the same mounting hole spacing as the 1070/1080.

I did hold the bracket up to the backside of the card and it looked like a match.

The only issue is cooling the rest of the card good.. not only having heatsinks for it but also some air flow across the cards.. why i decided against it and went full cover coolers as always.


I dont see why the 1060 spacing be any different.. if anything one could just drill new mounting holes on the bracket.
 
Thanks for the input! I just hate having that stuff chill and collect dust. I have an old gtx 460 heat killer full block thats been collecting dust for years...... but i think i may have to get the 1070 full cover block. I wanted to save some money for a ryzen build . o well. ill have to figure it out.

The short answer to this, I'm pretty sure, is yes. If you have the card and the block, I'd remove the original cooler and at least test fit the block. From what I can tell, Nvidia's heatsink bolt pattern has not changed a whole lot in at least two or three generations.

That said, you'll also need a means of cooling the VRM, so going to a full cover block probably makes sense anyway. I happen to be partial to Aquacomputer's, which also happen to be reasonably priced.

very true. My plans was to possibly getting it to work with the kraken vga shroud from NZXT that allows you to use an AIO with the card. I figured with the block I would be able to possibly use longer screws and maybe a copper shim. that way i would still ahve a fan blowing on the VRMS. But since i have a window i think the full cover block would make it much cleaner looking =D
