1080Ti SLI splurge

So I snagged 2 1080ti's on the Nvidia website this morning. I'm running 1440p 144hz monitor and usually play all the latest AAA titles with max detail and high antialiasing.

Considering this and playing games like BF1 (ultra with TAA), the Division, will play the new Mass Effect, and anything else that comes out, was this the wisest choice for the next couple years? I may even consider a 4k 144hz monitor in like a year or so.

Anyone else running 1080ti SLI @ 1440p? Regretting or happy with decision?

Wise is a relative term when spending that amount of money (hell, I felt bad enough spending $$$ for just ONE 1080 Ti). But that's a pretty sweet setup, nonetheless. Enjoy!
 
Snagged 2 1080Ti from Nvidia, now running GR Wildlands mostly Ultra'd out on a new wide screen ROG...see sig. No regrets. There will always be, in some titles, the need for SLI tinkering...sometimes, don't be afraid of nvidia inspector. It is your friend.
 
As others said sli is not worth it better off just buying a new card every year.
 
SLI is very much "it depends" type of thing. There are plenty of games out there that scale well, but most don't. If you play a lot games and have games that scale and want to crush performance at 4k then sure. So far I'm very happy with the results. However the 1080 Ti is powerful enough to power most games well at 4k without a second card. The only real negative for me thus far, overclocking. Good amount of headroom but the fans get LOUD. It's easy to get another 10% from these cards with a few sliders but, again, LOUD. At stock it's not a problem. It looks like nVidia pushed these FE/reference cards to the limit of air cooling without a jet engine taking off. Cooling looks to be the key to ramp these puppies up if inclined. Seriously though, impressive gains I think coming from two 1080s.

My main purpose for getting these actually was to smooth out 4k performance where SLI scaling wasn't available, like Forza Horizon 3. Significantly better performance feel to me from the 1080. And in cases like this the noise is so bad when not running in SLI overclocked.

Thought about it, but figured 1 would be good to accompany my 3930k @ 4.5. If you do plan on upping your monitor in the future, I personally would do an overhaul to whatever CPU is out during that time.
 
I had SLI 1080s. They ran Far Cry 4 at 60fps with all graphics options maxed and vsync on. Beautiful.
But, if a game does not support SLI, then having a single 1080 is not the best now that the Ti is released. (I did not want to spend 2x$1200 for the Titan X.)
So, I bought one 1080Ti to try it out (from Nvidia store). I ran Far Cry 4 and it struggled to reach 60fps in many places. I have ordered a second 1080Ti (from Nvidia store again) and should be receiving it this week.
The way I think of it is, if the games I play support SLI then I get the benefit of it. If not, I still have one of the fastest cards out now. Good enough for me. Once I go to 4K I'll likely buy a new rig to go with it.
