anyone ever bought any hardware through Amazon Warehouse...I've seen some decent deals on items such as video cards and am wondering if the 'Used- Like New' condition really is accurate

yup. I've got two r9 280xs and an asus pb287q. no issues with any of them. all of them were sold by amazon. the first 280x was like new, came with all accessories and no blemishes and ran like a champ. the second was 'good' but also no issues. the monitor was only fair and they said it had visible damage to the top of the monitor (I assumed that meant the case, not the screen) and was rewarded with a mint/like new monitor...honestly, its identical to my retail pb287q.

I think there has been some other stuff too but I cant think of what now. I'd definitely go that route again...

I've purchased several items through the warehouse (H110 watercooler, my plasma tv, kindle, etc.) and have only had good experiences. In fact, every item I've purchased appeared to be new except maybe small dings on the corner of packaging.

I know of two devices off of my head and both did not work after I received them. So it is a bit of a gamble but amazon has no problem taking the returns right away.

I get all my vehicle parts from there. I couldn't be happier with the items and the price.

I consider used - like new to be pretty much new / unused with an open box. Never had an issue.

I've bought a number of items from Amazon warehouse.

Once I bought an item, got something different(wrong PN). They swapped for the correct part.

Bought a bunch of fans for my garage, description said "like new". They all came NIB. One of the boxes looked like it seen better days.

Bought an openbox smart thermostat(honeywell). It game with extra books for a kitchen scale lol.

No bad experiences per say, but no complaints either.

I've never bought anything that mentions damage to the item so I cannot comment on that, but I have bough a LOT of like new things, repackaged, or damaged packaging and I have been more than satisfied every time. Even if the discount is 1%, I would do it just because the product has always been perfect and amazons return policy is damn good so there's very little to worry about.

Thumbs up from me from Amazon warehouse deals as well. It does seem that it is harder to get decent deals with them lately though.

Kid

^ agreed on it being harder to find deals from them lately (as in the past 1-2 years). Whoever's handling their prices nowadays is a scrooge. I've seen them offer "like new" stuff $5-20 under MSRP. WTF? Why would I pay that close to New price for something with 90-day warranty?!

lots of good reviews here...now I'm tempted to get a 'Used- Like New' video card from them...but I hear the warranty is severely crippled with Used items

For something like computer hardware, I would only buy from a manufacturer with good transferable warranties. Also, in my experience most things that are going to fail, will fail within amazons return window so there's not too much to worry about. If it fails down the road, a lot of companies just go by serial number now.

I bought a board that was a refurb from amazon warehouse and MSI honored the RMA without question. All they wanted was the serial number.

for some things, that's perfectly reasonable. I bought a keyboard tray from them and it was only a buck or two cheaper, but the only difference was the box was previously opened. I don't see why I would pay the buck just for an "untouched" box. Maybe I'm just cheap though. :)

I have bought a multitude of items of all types from the warehouse. I usually get the used, like new, or new, damaged packaging or whatever. Never had an issue, and saved a ton of money buying that way.

I've purchased multitude of things from Warehouse deals with varied results. Interestingly enough, it's usually the cheap items that have problems, where as the larger purchases have always been great.

I purchased both a TV and PS4 via warehouse deals. Saved about $130 on the TV, and $120 on the PS4, both were great deals. Both were also in pristine condition inside the box, truly brand new items that had been opened and resealed. I also purchased several 3TB Toshiba HDD's, and all of them had MFG dates within just a few months of when I ordered and full warranties. Also recall both a deep fryer and panini grill (decent units, both over $100) that were perfect, as well as a Shark vacuum.

Items that come to mind that I had problems with: A popcorn popper that arrived cracked, an audio interconnect that didn't work properly, a tower fan that made demonic noises, and a motion light with a broken hinge. There's been a few other things too, but I can't recall specifically what.

I'm guessing that Amazon inspects higher value items a bit more precisely than the cheap stuff. Every Warehouse Deal item I've had an issue with has probably been under $50. As such, for expensive items that I'm getting a pretty significant savings on, I'll go for the Warehouse deal without question. For cheap items, it's typically worth it to just spend the extra couple bucks and get something that's new.

Amazon's return policy is a little different with warehouse deals in that you cannot get a replacement sent. If it's broken, your only option is to get a refund and rebuy it. It's never been much of a hassle for me, but I could see how it might be a pain on a large purchase to have several hundred dollars tied up from purchasing a replacement item before getting a refund on the first one.

what is the warranty when buying a video card through Amazon Warehouse?...no manufacturer warranty and only the standard Amazon return policy?

This depends on the manufacturer. I just purchase from a company that transfers like Gigabyte or EVGA.

-Amazon warehouse deals are only deals when the prices are legit. When the price is 2% off new msrp, their is no deal; pass on that.
-Return policy is good for amazon warehouse since everything anyone buys on amazon.com (irrespective of who sells it) is covered by the standard 30 day return.
-Warranty is what is grey area. If the mfg allows the warranty to be transferred like Gig or Evga, no problem. Just be aware that you need to make sure the item your purchasing had originally come with a healthy warranty in itself. Since most items start their warranty date with their first purchase. So if the item was bought in january;returned in feburary; resold in march your left with basically 9 months on a one year warranty.

Again Amazon Warehouse deals need to be priced a certain way to really make it worthwhile. If not then pass on it.

never had any major issues and it's amazon so they are good about returns if it's not satisfactory. Only downside is most of what I look at if it's available used on amazon warehouse the prices suck, I mean if I'm spending $300 on an item new why bother saving $20 to get it used.

Bought a used Yamaha Audio Reciever for a great price through Amazon Warehouse. Came exactly as described, pretty much brand new.

Only "bad" experience was a Thrustmaster steering wheel that came broken or broke within the first hour of me using it. Thrustmaster gave me the run around and I just ended up sending it back to Amazon with their awesome return policy. So in short I wanted to see if Thrustmaster would fix it and they acted like jerks so I sent it back to Amazon for free.

Actually going through the process now with a "Like new" 290 that quickly began crashing and burning out; will report back how it goes. Might try the warranty directly with the manufacturer depending on how it goes with Amazon.

I've had really good experiences with all other used computer equipment, but never tried used video cards. So far I'm now 0/2 trying used 290s; first was DOA (from [H] here, seller immediately took back and refunded without a problem), this second one died more slowly but still within about 45 days is now completely kaput.

Looks like I'm SOL since it didn't arrive DOA. Somewhat fair, TBH, although turns me off from ever getting a used GPU again. Will try with MSI.

Received it early December. It's been a few months, and I didn't quickly return it as soon as I started getting the crashing issues while gaming, so some responsibility is on me. Was pretty intermittent however, until it took a hard dump this past weekend and won't even boot with the card in.

Damn, that sucks. I hate to say it, but I understand why Amazon refused an RMA. The fact is that could have happened just as easily with a retail card.

I'm very interesting in how MSI handles the situation, please keep us updated!

Totally, I'm not overly upset at them; I know I didn't do something stupid to it, but that would be an overly broad policy. Still, thinking to myself that I would have rather gone retail up front instead of staring at buying a whole new card....the $180 for a 290 was too good to turn up.

Will definitely follow up after contacting MSI, likely next week after I get back from a long weekend.

It's been a suuuuper long weekend! :p

actually I'm bumping this to know if anyone has recently bought anything from them?

I'm thinking about a 1080 or 1070. I'm assuming with the ti launch a few recent buyer's will be returning their purchase, and before I buy I want to make sure someone has had a successful recent purchase!

Hit and miss with Amazon Warehouse Deals.

My first home-run was almost 2 years ago I purchased my first GTX 970 STRIX from the Amazon Warehouse Deals for $300 when they were going for $330 new. The listing said the box was original and it had minor 1/4" x 1/4" cosmetic damage, but when it arrived, it was actually repackaged in a generic white box without any of its accessories or the manual. I contacted Amazon support and plead my case: I resell my hardware more often than not, so having the original box typically increases my ability to resell it; that missing the original box and accessories hurt its resale value. Amazon came back with an offer for a $60 refund, so I basically paid $240 for a GTX 970 STRIX, nearly $100 cheaper than MSRP at the time. That same 970 is still chugging along in my dad's rig and it's now paired with another 970 STRIX in SLI.

My first miss was about a year ago when I bought an Asrock Z170 ITX/AC motherboard via Amazon Warehouse Deals and it arrived missing a screw for the m.2 slot and more importantly it was DOA. There were actually visible scorch marks on the corner and back of the board, so I sent that back.

At the same time as above, I also purchased an open box Samsung 950 Pro for $150 when they were going for about $200 new. I'm still using that 950 Pro, no issues.

Bottom-line: I would not order entire builds or more than 1 component at a time for a new build from Amazon Warehouse Deals. There aren't many things worse as a builder to have your brand new build fail to POST, so it's best to stack the odds in your favor with as many reliable and trusted parts as possible. I learned this the hard way with my DOA ITX board; not knowing if it was the board or another component I got via Warehouse Deals. Ended up being both a DOA board AND i7 6700 (or perhaps the board killed the i7 as well), which is just extremely unlucky.

I don't know how much I'd use them for computer parts (aside from peripherals like keyboards, mice, monitors, cases etc) but for other things, Amazon Warehouse is an insane value. I ended up getting $300 work boots for $45 (Chippewa Apaches), because there was a small scratch in the leather, in a spot you literally couldn't even see without taking them off and putting them right up to your face. Watches are an insane value as well if you know what to look for.

I use warehouse deals all the time for all kinds of stuff with no complaints. Everything from motherboards to RAM. Most of the stuff I get looks like somebody opened the box, looked at it and sent it back...

I always check the warehouse deals first when making a purchase. I would say I have had mostly success with it, some of the items were not "like new" as described by amazon. I had a full set of in wall speakers that had bad water damage to the box, but the speakers were in what seemed to be perfect shape so I kept them. On a second item had missing parts, but overall I will use them again.

I haven't been burned by them yet. I've made big purchases like TV's and monitors and little purchases like surge protectors without the original box. Never had a problem in the last 6 or so years, but if you do have an issue the customer service is usually pretty decent.

Bought a Rampage V 10 Edition through amazon warehouse deals and it was brand new, doesn't even look like it was even used let alone opened but had a small 1 inch tear in the packaging.

A couple weeks later bought logitech g910 keyboard through the warehouse and it came to me and it looked like it was used heavily and had chips and hair in between every single key and was disgusting. Looked like it was used for a couple years and returned...

Its 50/50 for me.

The seller on the items ends up being "Warehouse Deals" on the invoice and not Amazon.

Friend bought a TV that was repackaged and worked fine out of the box. The TV died months later and the manufacturer wouldn't cover it because "Warehouse Deals" was not an approved reseller. $700 down the drain.

Aside from that I bought a SSD that showed up and looked like it was used as a skateboard. Also the top of the drive was covered with a sticker. Sent that back for a refund.
