I'm having a hard time locating specific DDR4 ECC ram kits, without paying out the nose. Ebay has a bunch, but I want to make sure I am not just looking in the wrong place.

Samsung makes some of the best memory, so I'd like to try to stick with samsung supplied sticks. Any recommendations for DDR4 Unbuffered? I want 16gb total, and don't care if its 2x8 or 4x4.

Oh. And I will be attempting to overclock this, even if some people call me stupid. Hence why Samsung matters.

Google search "samsung ddr4 product guide 2016" or "DDR4_Product_guide_Oct.16-0"
Got banned for some reason for directly posting a link to the pdf.
Here is the list I found, just google search for part numbers.
I am trying to match up the same chips used in qvl lists for motherboards that have a ECC version.

Thanks for the help.

I ended up picking up two 8GB sticks of Samsung ECC UDIMM on ebay. It's not listed as a QVL for any of the Ryzen boards (or any consumer grade board for that matter). I believe Samsung B-Die is what all the top mem kits use, so hopefully this works with Ryzen. Otherwise, I'm out $200...

I checked on this a little while ago, DDR4 ECC Unbuffered from:

Crucial: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/memory-ddr4 (you want EUDIMM + ECC + Unbuffered)

Kingston: https://www.kingston.com/us/MemorySearch/MemoryType?MemoryType=DDR4 2400MHz,,23,54

Samsung:
http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/products/dram/pc-dram/ (ECC look for "x72" under "Organization") you can confirm with the datasheet.

My personal fav: Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 ECC UDIMM VLP (CT16G4XFD824A) ~ $154

AMD said Ryzen supports ECC (but its not validated/tested) as long as the motherboard + bios has support. Previous AMD boards supported ECC, particularly Asus, but this time the datasheet and website disagree with each other.

Waiting on this thread for mobo confirmation: https://hardforum.com/threads/ryzen-ecc-support-confirmed.1925547/

Well, shit. How do sellers get away with listing products they don't have in stock. This is on both ebay, and memory for less. I paid an ebay seller (very high ratings) and it took me emailed a week+ later before they realized "sorry we don't have this in stock.".

Damnnit. Looks like I cannot locate Samsung B-Die ECC UDIMMs...

I sent an email to Samsung. I doubt it will be responded to, but figured what the hell. Otherwise, Micron it is...

Found that on newegg I have to put the exact part number in the search . Using the browse for memory and trying to narrow down to samsung, many of the modules aren't listed.

Kind of disappointing to see that Ryzen supports unbuffered RAM only. It would have been nice if it supported Registered ram since there is plenty of those modules on ebay. It's kind of shocking how short the list of Unbuffered DDR4 ram is and how expensive it is.

I'm upgrading my server/NAS box with Ryzen and I got Kingston KVR24E17D8/16MA kits (16GB dual ranked 2400 module with Micron-A chips whatever that means). I'll be putting everything together over next couple of days. Hopefully it'll work flawlessly and that proper windows ECC support will follow.

FYI got my ASRock X370 Fatal1ty Professional with three sticks of Kingston KVR24E17D8/16MA (all I have on hand right now) going yesterday evening. Had a bit of a scare because the motherboard would not post, it would just get stuck displaying code 48 on the debug screen. However, I managed to get it working after clearing CMOS by holding push button on the back of IO shield for a few seconds. Phew... Didn't have time to install OS, just updated the BIOS to 2.00 (BTW I just love ASRock internet BIOS flash, so easy) and poked around a bit. With 3 sticks of dual ranked ram, the BIOS shows it at 2400, curious what's going to happen when I add the 4th stick.

Intel has been doing this with their E3 Xeons for quite a few years with DDR3 registered restricted only to E5/E7 Xeons. It's pretty disappointing that they didn't allow for more than 32GB RAM :/
