1080ti Pre-order, Retail, and AIB availability watch

Same thing applies to ZOTAC too in case anyone's wondering. Newegg's site says it's 2 years. You have to dig a little but on ZOTAC's site it clearly says:

Graphics Cards

  • Standard Warranty: 2 years
  • Extended Warranty: +1 year
  • Total Warranty: 3 years total

In other words, it doesn't matter which manufacturer you buy a Founders Edition from, they're identical in every way including the warranty.

What is AIB ?

Add in board partner cards are referred to as "AIB" cards. Those are non-reference designs created by companies like ASUS. This is an alternative to the reference designs which are typically built by the same company and then rebranded by everyone else. For example, the cards you buy on NVIDIA.com are reference cards built by Flextronics, Foxconn or some other company. The ASUS version of that Founder's Edition card is the same card made by the same manufacturer. It will just have an ASUS sticker on it and come in an ASUS box.

What is AIB ?

All of the custom, non-reference designs would be considered AIB solutions. Technically it stands for "add-in-board," but in the video card world, people use it to describe any non-reference card for the most part.

Anyone purchase a EVGA FE before? Can you step it up to the AIB when they come out?
No, Step Up doesn't work that way last I checked. Step Up cards are usually reference cards due to the limited availability of custom cards. Under Terms & Conditions it states:
  • EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.
  • Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
  • Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)

Out of stock again on Nvidia.com. Glad I got my order in at least. Hopefully it'll ship out soon.

I keep reading new posts here and it's becoming increasingly more difficult to wait for EVGA to release their FTW3 and ASUS to release their ROG Strix versions

Two HDMI and two DP ports on some AIB partner cards eh?

This will be good for current gen VR so we can plug in our headset(s) and a TV or projector at the same time without dongles or adapters... but i cant help but feel like this is a step backward. Its too bad oculus / vive don't flawlessly support DP.

Can't go wrong with reference, it will give you the performance you expect from the reviews at least.

Harsh - WCCFtech (Yeah, i know) says the next wave of cards won't come until the 25th. At that point, perhaps its worth waiting the extra week for the AIB cards?

True, though having owned both reference and non-reference cards over the years, I've moved away from the reference parts. Cooler, quieter, factory OC with a sustained boost clock without the need for a modified fan profile yield tangible benefits, though I wouldn't be surprised if I can't get my hands on one even by this time next month

Thanks !

If you are in the UK it looks like Ebuyer have stock !

My friend placed an order yesterday and said it has been shipped today.
The website said stock expected this coming Friday.
They must still have some.

Snagged one from Newegg in a combo deal. Seems to be in stock, not a backorder. The combo came to $714.99 or with an EVGA PowerLink.

Except for the jet engine taking off inside your case whenever you start a game.

I can wait a few weeks for 3-fan AIB's.

The 1080Ti isn't bad. It's louder than a big 3-fan card but not all that loud. My computer is in a different room so not an issue for me but I've gone and listened to the noise level under full Furmark load and it is much better than blowers of the past. Also has the advantage of venting the heat right out of the case.

Not hating on the big coolers, I had a Gigabyte G1 previously, but this generation of blower is fairly tame.

My bundle card from Newegg shipped! I also ordered one from Nvidia since I was getting antsy, which has also shipped. So now I have to send back the Nvidia one to get a refund.

Oh well.

I don't get how the EVGA cards go in stock at Newegg when I have a backorder that hasn't been filled yet.

One of my buddies has a card backordered that hasn't been filled and it seems orders keep going up. Are these additional backorders?

The one thing that I don't like aesthetically on the FE design is the backplate because of the split in half design. It breaks up the engraved lines.
The Lamborghini cooler is still the bees knees though.

It would be great if Nvidia did RGB for the logo. Green doesn't fit my build.

Every time I see the soldiers in Emerald City (TV), I think of Nvidia.

Looks like my 1080ti from Amazon (EVGA) will be arriving Friday. For anyone that ordered from Amazon be sure to check your status !

I wonder how automated their stock is, if they scanned a shipment into their system the site may show in stock for a little bit before the inventory is allocated to back orders. Dunno just surmising.

I wonder - if I get the TI right now, I should be able to step-up to the hydro version right? I've never really been in the clear as to how that whole thing works.

Just to be clear, do ALL FEs come with 3 year warranty regardless of whether they are nvidia branded or 3rd party branded (e.g. Asus, Gigabyte etc)? If anyone can clarify that would be much appreciated.

Mine just arrived :) straight from EVGA :) waiting for it to heat up a bit to room temp, then putting it in and putting my 980 ti on sale.

Nvidia has a new round of stock on their site. I just ordered one! Anyone know how long it usually takes for them to ship? I chose 2 day in hopes of getting it before ME:A comes out.

I just ordered one as well and canceled my backorder at new egg. Cost me an extra $44 because of tax... Went ahead and chose next day shipping too, because what is an extra $34 at this point?

My direct from eVGA via Best Buy one will be here Friday. My MSI one from Amazon still doesn't have a ship date. Anyone gotten theirs from BB and gotten a game redemption code?
