1080ti Pre-order, Retail, and AIB availability watch

Give me a Gigabyte Aorus, Gaming X, Lightning, or Classified to slap on a water block please.

Just remember, AIB cards are supposed to launch in late April.

That's kinda crazy. I was going to wait for the strix, but I'm not waiting six weeks to maybe get an AIB. Glad I got a couple pre-ordered from NV, because I imagine the AIB cards will be hard to get ahold of too. Took months for the 1080 strix to become available last time around.

uggghhhhhh. Waiting 6 more weeks is going to be insane. At the same time, I've waited for so long now... I may as well wait. I understand ref cards can OC just as much, but I want that peace of mind that I can just get either a AIO setup or wait for a good waterblock for said card. Seeing so many people getting them and all though, makes me feel so conflicted.

I mean, no matter what I get the upgrade is going to be ridiculous, going from my current GTX680.

They have listed only few of the AIB cards - none from "big boys" like Asus, MSI and such - but I doubt that everyone will be waiting weeknor two with launching their cards after competition. Also 100 euro more for the less popular variants, like Inno 3D - at least from EU MSRP - because their current FE prices are madness :p

About the time they'll announce the 1180... might as well wait, you've waited this long. :p

hahahha I know how ridiculous that sounds. But don't these other cards come with some optimizations? better power consumption / temps?

I'm not sure - other than better cooling. I don't follow them that closely. Some have better clocks, I think.

The difference in the AIB boards is mainly the different cooling solution. If a given one is better or not is up for debate as many do provide more heat dissipation, but dump the heat in the case rather than vent it out. So depends on what you want. Also you can get AIB cards with overclocks baked in tot he BIOS, so no need to use a tool to make them go that fast. With that comes the implicit gaurentee that they'll work at that speed or the manufacturer will replace them. They sometimes come with better power solutions, but that doesn't really tend to matter much these days as that usually isn't the limit in OCing. Also because of all that they can cost more, or less as the manufacturer wants.

So it is kinda up to what you want. If you want a blower solution, often the nVidia reference ones are the best ones going. If you want something larger with more fans, you need an AIB solution but that does mean dumping heat in the case so you need to have a case that can deal with it.

I really dont think the aftermarket cards are going to overclock much higher than the founders edition. Pascal is voltage locked. Even under water they dont go much past 2Ghz. This isn't like maxwell where you had more voltage control and a bios that could be modded. And really who cares if the card runs at 84C on founders edition vs. say 60C on an aftermarket card? Once you hit that clock wall it really makes no difference. The GPU is designed to run at 84C. Hell you can make it run at 92C by just changing a max temp slider in afterburner or evga precision. The aftermarket card may be running at 60C but it is still generating as much heat as the founders edition running at 84C. Its just that the aftermarket coolers are better at removing that heat from the GPU faster. It's not like your room is going to be cooler with an aftermarket card.

Really the only reason to go aftermarket with Pascal is noise from the fans. I personally don't have my rig on the desk, it's underneath and I can't hear the fan on my 1080 while gaming. I have the fan running at 70% too and I dont wear headphones.

On a side note: My PNY 1080 Ti will be here by noon on Saturday.

Got lucky and just snagged an EVGA while it was in stock at newegg about a half hour ago. Then immediately ordered an EK waterblock.. lol.

I want better heat dissipation more than crazy OC. If given the option I definitely want to go with good water cooking. I have the swiftech h320 prestige for my processor and from what I understand I can add a video card to it. However I have a radiator, pump, and reservoir that I haven't used in ages. I could add those for the card too.

Was ready this morning at 10AM. Got to work early, opened a bunch of tabs on my browser, and starting F5ing around 9:50.

Nvidia's site was the first to go up, Add to Cart, didn't have my info saved and by the time I entered all my addresses and stuff it said Sold Out.

Next Best Buy had a PNY card, still had to enter my info but luckily the order made it through. BUT it said expected arrival was Thursday... hmm...

Then Newegg's page went up, all the brands were in stock, ended up going with the Gigabyte. Since I was logged in, order was quick and went through.

Got shipping confirms later in the day, looks like both will arrive on Monday. Was going to sell one of them, but what the hell. SLI BABY!!!!

Does anyone think the custom PCB versions like lightning, classified, etc will yield a higher overclock under water and are they worth waiting for?

Eh, everyone knows the cards with RGB lighting clock the highest. Trump proposed it. It's yet to be falsified.

PM me if interested. Wife handed me my ass on this one because we are saving. No up charge ;)

Whipped, lol sorry man

I spend the money I earn how I like. I've always taken care of the bills first and what not but guys who let the wife push them around when they are the primary bread winner, or at least pay for their own shit drive me nuts. I don't get it.

To be fair we don't know their situation. Maybe she's an equal contributor (or even more so?). It's also good to have an achor when you are saving that reminds you why it is you're saving. Some things just take up priority in life, man.

We make the same, but she takes home nearly double what I do because I have the insurance/pension/ira coming out of mine. Trying to start a business. Releases like this are no good for saving :)

anyone's newegg order that said shipped actually get an update from the shipping company? Mine just says label created.

just got an gigabyte at newegg. I feel better now

I know the feeling. :D I didn't think I was going to get one today but I managed to grab a Gigabyte card on Newegg after seeing on here that they were available again. I didn't think I was going to get even that though; I put an EVGA card in my cart and got sniped before I could check out. Put the Gigabyte card in my cart and hit check out immediately and the order went through.

Great post. I'm not a dick about it, but I couldn't agree more.

I'm not saying there aren't valid reasons to save money or that some things take priority. It happens to most of us at some point. What gets me is when guys basically fear their wives reprisal for any spending they do. They can't enjoy what they've earned without each purchase practically turning into a committee meeting. That's no way to live.

The wives do it too. Look at their shoe collections or other bullshit they buy. Both parties need to take some money off the top to do with as they please for whatever reason. Save the rest.

I can see where you come from, and if you're the sole breadwinner then yeah, I think you're allowed to spend the money you've earned however you please (as long as you're responsible about it). Having said that though, in this case she's also doing her part to save from what doz said. $700 isn't just a bit of money either - it's a sizable investment. In this case, perhaps, his wife giving him shit for it may have been justified - especially if as he said, he was the one that came up with the whole saving money bit to begin with

Put in a pre-order for the Asus FE at my local retailer. My X34 demands MOAR FRAMES!

I should probably mention that I am way behind on reading the thread and happened to catch Dan_D's post and comment without context. I have a buddy that I online game with. His ancient PC broke so I sent him a box that I wasn't using, charging him only for the CPU and SSD b/c those parts were particulary current (and a Xeon). For a couple hundred bucks he got a new box and was off... Then I found out his wife berated him about it for the next 6 months b/c he didn't need to be spending money on gaming. The dude earns a 6 figure salary annually, so that's the sort of thing that gets under my skin.

Yeah people like that annoy the hell out of me too, just like Dan.

There's a huge difference between someone being a controlling bitch and making someone adhere to conditions they agreed to to begin with though.

According to Videocardz, Zotac card is still being developed - I'm not in that business, so Indont know how long it can take to develop a custom board and cooling and make it approved, but I doubt it will be just few days.
