I am concerned about temps sound and boost speed with the founders card, i am also impatient. While doing my morning search for ti's i saw this

has anyone here added an aftermarket cooler to a reference card before? This dosent look to have the drawbacks of a liquid cooled setup (vram cooling, pumps, costs, water!). this one is for a 1080 or titan xp so it should work.
I have that exact cooler on a reference board 290X, which is pretty much the worst case scenario in terms of heat and power that's ever been sold.

Don't do it. It works, but it makes the card take up five, yes FIVE expansion slots, and it's kind of a kludgey thing to install. It also comes with zero provision for cooling the VRM or memory, which is absolutely critical on the 290X. I had to source a special Gelid heatsink for the VRM. You might be able to get away with it on a Pascal card, but it'd still wouldn't be an upgrade. Also, it's not really any quieter than the Sapphire Tri-X cooler that it replaced. One of the fans on mine had a bad bearing and rattled, but otherwise, the Tri-X was better, IMHO. Edit: One thing that thing has going for it, though, is that it's an adequate replacement for any failed stock cooler sold within the last five years or so, as long as you can work out your own memory and VRM heatsink.

My advice, if you're worried about the Founder's Edition cooler, is to just wait for board partner cards that have skookum three fan designs. EVGA, having gotten burned by the ACX 3.0 debacle, appears to have overkilled the problem for their new ICX cards. The Founder's Edition cooler on my 1080 was great, noise-wise, though. I eventually went to water cooling, but that was my actual reason for going with the FE in the first place, so it's not like I did it because the stock cooler is terrible or anything.

My MicroCenter opens at 10 AM Eastern. I arrived at 8:30 AM and there were two people in front of me in line and another arrived minutes after I did. At 9 AM they opened the doors and said that they had 4 in the store (2 EVGA, 2 MSI), and they were limit one per customer. Seeing as I already have two waterblocks in my possession, I decided to take my chances online. Hope that fifth guy was happy.

Even if they'd allowed 2 per person, I don't know if I could have screwed over that fourth guy in line. This way if I get two online I'm screwing over people I've never seen.

We need more people like you in the community, good on you for not screwing over people that probably took time off work to stand outside.

How would it have been screwing anyone over if he was 3rd in line and therefore got a card?

We're the four all FE editions I presume?

Microcenter will be open by the time I get there. If they've got cards great, if not then I'll move on. If they only allow one per customer I don't know if I'll take one or not.

My microcenter said they didn't have any and oh and they couldn't sell before 1pm.

10 AM Central and nothing on Newegg, nVidia.com, or Amazon.com yet. The e-mail I received from nVidia said 10 AM Pacific, so I'll check again then.

Wow I got lucky and got mine ordered already at BH Photo. They took it off the site afterwords but my order says "Processing" they will just probably just wait until 1pm to ship it.

EDIT: They also charged my card so good news there. Excited!

Just called my MC. Told me the same thing that they have a couple but can't release any info regarding the shipment until 1pm est. My wife gets off of work 12:30. Having her swing over there to see if she can grab one :):):woot:

I just called the STL MC, the very kind gentleman told me that they don't have any stock information as of now, but to try back at 1PM. I asked if he could confirm they had stock to sell at 1PM and he kinda danced around saying they did not yet have the stock in today. My guess is some stores aren't getting their stock delivered until this afternoon.

My microcenter handed out place holder cards to the first 5 that were here. They can't get there card till 1 est. they also said it come s with the honor or ghost bundle.

Anyone know if amazon offers same day delivery for new gpus?

Depends on your area. Some regions have same day delivery, others don't. It also depends if that nearby warehouse has it in stock and they have Amazon drivers to deliver it.

Microcenter is wildly inconsistent in policy across the country. Just left Cambridge MA about an hour ago with a reference EVGA. They had 5 total and opened at 9:30 to sell to us one at a time for $50 markup. No game bundle.

Yeah it sucks. Luckily I paid with a card and saved the receipt so I can eventually rescue that $50 they're holding hostage.

My delivery was delayed due to storms in the Memphis area. Looks like mine won't be here until tomorrow.

On a side note, how does the Nvidia branded card compare to a reference from another manufacturer?

I'm guessing the reference EVGA and Nvidia branded cards are literally the exact same made in the exact same place only difference being warranty/support?

Ya mine seems to be in the same boat. It is "in transit" from Memphis but mysteriously no longer has a scheduled delivery date. I don't so much mind the delay, as the way they try to slyly pretend like there wasn't a guaranteed time of delivery all of a sudden. If they deliver it tomorrow, I'll let it slide, but if it don't come until Monday which is what I expect I'm going to get pushy and demand a refund from FedEx.

Not a claim I'd be making at 9:15 PT

Granted if the stocks are as low as they seem so far, this is a pretty shit launch.

At work, thought I added more too it. Last time I bought I card some info was at least up by now, couldnt buy but you could at least look at specs and such from the manufacturers. Yes FE is the main release but warranties and so forth.

Reference is reference.
