Yup, and I understand that CVs generally can do a lot of damage, but it takes a fair bit of coordination and patience, with the insane AA at higher tiers, it only gets harder.

The baltimore that got first there, had 115K damage that round, with 0 caps.

That's sad. Carriers need to be part of the game for everyone to be "balanced" but they need their damage delivery and how AA works rebuilt, in my opinion. But not incentivizing carrier play to begin with really alienates an important part of the game.
 
Well, I seem to be experiencing the usual 50/50 shit in ranked again this time.

The Belfast is one hell of a ship for Ranked, but when the rest of your fleet is being fucking stoopid and dying faster than house flies you can't win regardless.

I found I could only go so far in the belfast, I had to take a bit more control to keep a higher win ratio, and be on top for losses.

Scharnhorst and Shiratsuyu, I re-trained my Shim captain to the Shiratsuyu, nothing like flanking an enemy team and dropping 16 torps into the smoke to take out their Belfast and other ships hiding with it :)
 
Ya gotta use that radar and sonar to work the Belfast effectively !

CV's are sort of stuck in that place where they're either brokenly op or they're useless as shit.. a change to AA or damage from CV's even by 5% can swing it drastically which is why instead of touching those parts they decided to put an emphasis on AS builds more so you get more credits and more XP vs just damage whoring. in reality though that's not what happens because to earn the extra credits it costs you just as much in credits from lost planes so you gain nothing after about T6/7. honestly i think CV's just need to go back to the drawing board and be reworked so that they can tighten the MM so it's +1 -1 of the tier the ships in while also getting a real UI.. there's no reason a haku should get into a game that has all T8 cruisers nor any reason a lexington/shokaku should be going up against DM's, GK's and montana's.

From T5 and on, you see very few battleships and the destroyers are far more cautious. The Belfast is an awesome ship, but with no alpha strike capability, its hard to kill other cruisers. I havent played rank in a few days, but I did spend some time in the 5-3 bracket and the belfasts were far less effective and almost never on top of the score sheet. As soon as someone outplays your belfast radar, its a very mediocre ship.
for several days I have been trying to decide how I want to make the final push from 4 to 1. Battleships are a no go, Belfast is a possibility.
My sims with RPF served me well, but its incredibly hard to deal damage with the guns. The XP bonus is nice, but in a DD vs DD brawl, all it takes is one cruiser to land a hit on you and your toast.
I have been contemplating using the Blys. I can win any 1v1 DD battle and I can fight effectively from range and stealth.
Hell, I have even been considering using the Kiev. It also beats down the IJN and USN destroyers in a fight, and it gives the ability to do wide flanking attacks. Smoke is such a big deal this season, but the closer you get to R1, the more cover is more effective than smoke. Being able to get around cover and rain HE into smoke could be interesting. I have seen a few players do it and have success.
I hope next rank is T6 or T9....Or just give us T5 ranked.

I just ranked out - after 2 weeks at rank 2 and 1 star to go. Talk about a exercise in frustration. I used the Belfast almost exclusively. As long as you adjust your play style to it and act in more of a support role from 5-1 you won't have any issues. Your radar is KEY to getting your team to victory. Fiji is another decent choice, since you get torps. You won't get points for doing it, so you take the risk of not saving a star. Blyz is a good choice and solid ship, there aren't many playing it, but if you're good with it, go for it. The Kiev is an excellent choice for DDs. Forget the Maass, Myoko, Schors and Colorado.

Colorado was excellent until R5 where the number of DDs skyrocketed. I think mine has a 70% WR. Dispersion is king. But belfast fire is death.

Are you guys pulling more damage with the 'Belfast using HE, HE Plus or AP? Or are you using the standard HE long range/AP short range broadside method?

It really is a flip of a coin on ranked. You have a better chance of getting teammates that will work with you during the day from what I've found. Once school is out the kids get on and they don't care.

i found the sweet zones to be 11am-2pm PST and 10pm to 1am... between 2 pm and about 8pm you have to deal with the kids and after 8 you have to deal with their parents playing, lol.
 
Don't get me wrong, the belfast is still a beast in ranked, it's hard to pull off a win by carrying with it, vs say, a shiratsuyu, which can deal out an incredible amount of damage in a short period. At least i lose very little stars in it =)

I use AP at close range , specially on BB when they have lower HP , it does a lot of damage into the super structure. HE works great on targets with a lot of HP .

There's really nothing that can carry this season. Last season I could do it in the Kutuzov, the Belfast, not so much.

Shiratsuyu and akatsuki can wreak havoc , in 1 game yesterday, a single salvo from me hit 3 of their ships killing 2, instantly decided the outcome.
 
Yeah, I did that. Went around to A and fired 4 salvo's of skill into 4 different potential lanes, and ended up landing 6 torps but not killing anyone.

It was a quick 20k + in damage though :)

I had to sit back and recharge afterward though.

That was pure stupidity on their part then - let me guess, huddled in smoke and no hydro?

Had to face tank a dam zao, hindy, and two smoked up bensons. Atleast I traded with the hindy at the same time he killed me. Also, our gearing was too much of a chicken shit to engage a 6k hp benson while he was at 9k hp.

Here is another bump for you larry :)

I got the Z52, and it is fucking awesome, 5.88km Hydro, guns hit well with AP against pretty much everything, the forward dual turrets are a nice change over the Z46.

Only 2 T10s that I don't have yet... are the 2 Carriers, both @ T9 now, oh and the new T10 russian DD :p

6.4 on the Z52, 14.5KM range with AFT, 13.7KM after firing, it also has the ability to mount the 16% range increase, the guns are useful at range against bbs / cruisers that nose in, a bit harder to hit a fast moving target. at 14.5KM it's an 11.8sec hang time.

All German destroyers north of Tier 6 get a Hydro option =) but the Z52 pushes the range from 4.xxkm to 5.88km so the same as the kurfurst.

Though to be fair, I did rape another AS Saipan.. which happened to be the CV on our team next game.... where he got CS'd again... but somehow we won :D
 
I think they have ways of nerfing premiums besides actually nerfing them.

A good example is the Bismarck. That ship has been made damn near useless because it's a T8 and the only thing they put it in is T10 games now. I have not seen a T8 game in WEEKS.

There are more than enough T8 players to build T8 games. Pick just about any other T8 ship and you'll end up in T8 games much more often.

-New carrier controls are implemented (set to off by default)
-Left mouse click won’t deselect the planes
-If nothing is in the frame, then the frame selected won’t reset
-Esc key will deselect planes (Both carrier and planes locked)
-Alt attacks can be done by both left mouse click and right mouse click
-If you have planes selected with the left mouse click, secondary guns priority can be selected by using the right mouse click.
-Right mouse click can cancel the autopilot
-Tier IV and V will have Alt attack removed
-Fighters can now Alt attack in order to disengage from dogfights
-Carrier planes will no longer return to the carrier if the carrier is sunk after carrying out their last given orders
-The carrier camera view will now show capture circles instead of buoys

This is not the major CV rework, it’s just the interface change to make it look like the starcraft control interface.

Also, say goodbye to invisible-firing. Now your firing penalty will be your main gun maximum range, no matter if if you maxed out your CE or if you are using range upgrades. If stealthfiring is removed, Lesta will reduce the penalty for the Kriegsmarine Destroyers.

No exceptions when removing stealth firing, even Premium ships or Soviet ones will be affected. Those are all the major things in 0.6.3, the rest are just bug fixes, changes of ship visuals. Now, we wait for French Cruisers (sorry for the bad joke from last time) and the Italian Premium ship.

The only thing anyone will drive is Battleships and DD's that can stealth fire torps.

I call it invisifiring. Smoke and camping behind islands still works. To be honest I can't recall too often I invisifired with RN cruisers.

Will ruin my fun in the Aki a little but again... Smoke and islands. Or just the dd wiggle.

Kinda pisses me off. I grind for certain ships, invest in captains, then they do massive changes like all the fucking time. I really enjoyed the 4km invisifired in the shiratsuyu. It was also a great way to tell how close DDs are.

Overall I don't think it'll have a huge affect on me but annoying.
