I have a dental office ibm server (2012) with 15 or so computers that access all data on server. Patient files, schedule, x rays and photos.
Right now it runs on 3 hdd in a raid 5. Lately i find that its slower to get data.
I wonder if I should just replace the hdd raid 5 with a simple ssd raid 1(for quick recovery if one fails as we cannot afford downtime). I still have daily backups on an external hdd and online.
I only have 300gb data or so, so imo, a raid 1 with 2 ssds approx 1tb would perfectly fit the bill.
And because i am doing a raid 1, and easy to replace, do i really need enterprise grade ssd or should i just buy two samsung pro ssds and thats all?
I am unsure about what kind of hdds are in there though, i think that i have hot swap drives or something so maybe i need to make sure which drives would fit? Anyone with server experience knows?
