Im thinking I might need / want to look into updating my fans on my rad. I currently have 4x Noise Blockers on my UT480 Alpha Cool radiator. Been a while since I looked into anything, these are running at 1050 RPM full speed. On the loop: 2x E5-2670, 2x Asis STRIX GTX980, and a single D5 pump.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Well, I've been looking at Corsair ML120's, mainly for PWM, longevity and performance/noise. However, seems like you have quite a bit in your loop, and I'd imagine you may want to bias your selection criteria to emphasize more static pressure?

Why are you thinking you need to upgrade in the first place?

I recently got a full complement of Corsair's MLs. They are fantastic in lots of ways, but to be fair I've never had the other fans mentioned in this thread.

All I can really say is that they're a huge improvement over Corsair's old SP fans.

go with the best ever made Gentle Typhoon AP15s..

^^^ Gentle Typhoon is pretty much the undisputed best fan ever made. You can get the PWM version now too if that is something you need/want to have.

I'm running Noctua IndustrialPPC NF-F12 2000 RPM PWM fans on my 360 radiator and I'm very satisfied with the performance of those. The price would be a con though honestly.

I looked up the GT AP15 and it seems they've been discontinued. Any idea if there's a good replacement in the works? I'm currently putting together a new watercooling setup and the comments here got me interested. :)

I'm using Corsair SP120s on my top rad, and Thermaltake riings on the bottom. The SP120's are quite a bit more powerful, but the Riings are really quiet. I have them all running off a NZXT Grid+ so they're at 40% nearly all the time.

The gentle typhoons have since been separated from the scythe brand. Nidec servo still makes them.

Look for the brand "darkside" and the gentle typhoon model.

They tend to run about $20 a piece.

Best IMHO, as well. Vardar are a very good copy and basically perform the exact same (RPM per RPM).

I use Scythe Ultra Kaze with a controller.

no problem so far for over 3 yrs, albeit running at around 40% of their speed.

Also good fans, but tend to wear out/fail a lot sooner then the GT AP-15's. I ran a mix of both in my rig for the past 5+ years... all the Scythe fans eventually gave up the ghost (bearing failures), and they were all on a fan controller as well. Have yet to encounter a single GT AP-15 failure and I'm running 14 of them in my rig.
