Ryzen Shipping Thread

They are trying to ship me a CPU with no motherboard this morning after they messed up on the pre-orders. I am trying to get them to pull the order back but having some difficulty. I was able to cancel the motherboard which had no estimated ship date. They are going to have to contact the carrier to get the CPU pulled back.

I got this from Amazon CS after complaining: "I'm sorry your item was Temporarily out of Stock when your order was placed." What a load of bullshit. They took preorders for products they didn't have and won't even apologize for their fuck up. I suspect I'm not the only one who took the day off so I could put together my first new AMD rig in a decade...

I had the day off for it too.

They took pre-orders for products they didn't receive or received later than the other vendors. Which is an inconvenience for their customers. I doubt they planned for this to happen. There was a mistake on their part or a supplier. Regardless you and I are SOL. Now that the motherboards are out of stock all over the place it looks like the wait is going to be at least another 5-7 days minimum. Can't just go out and buy one from somewhere else.

Tempting to spend the extra on a 6850K upgrade at this point because at least that stuff is in stock and could be received early next week. I kinda sorta feel guilty about it though. This isn't really AMD's fault.

I ordered a B board and still nothing, so it's not just the X boards that they don't have. Kind of pissed that they didn't even list any information that it was delayed, I ordered from them because they were the only ones that listed the m-ATX B350 board as shipping on the 2nd (Newegg was the 7th or 9th) and I live 2 hours from a microcenter.

After all this im just going to cancel my order. The whole reason i ordered through amazon was becasue new egg didnt have a ton of motherboard availablility and I have heard nothing but good things about how good amazons fulfillments are. That is one good way to keep me from coming back.

So i called customer service to cancel my order. They said that that my order would be processed and shipped today. Asus x370 prime and 1700x. No offer to pay for overnight, no appologies, and just generally disinterested in any pain points. If it for some reason doesn't ship today I dont think I will be using Amazon again.

Micro Center by me had a good stock of boards yesterday afternoon and they were getting more today. Why don't you try them out.

I am also waiting. I ordered the 1700 and Asus Prime X370 Pro bundle on 2/24
I talked to a Amazon rep today and they told me that they are out of the Motherboards so that is delaying the order
She said i could not break the order since it was a bundle. tempted to all back but right now I can wait till next week..
But yea, so much for preorder..
I was not given an ETA on motherboard so hoping the other info of 3/7 is right

I cancelled. No ETA on the motherboard, screwed me over on the pre-order, means no sale. I'll either get it somewhere else when it goes back into stock or just get a 6850K instead. Going to think it over this weekend.

Amazon is normally a pretty sure bet so I am surprised this happened.

Mine updated last night to a delevery data of 3/7. However, right after that I got a NewEgg notice that they had some in stock again of the 1800X. So when I went to their website to check, they had them in stock. So I went ahead and order it from NewEgg and then canceled my Amazon order on the CPU which happens to be ordered with a motherboard. No date yet on the motherboard though...

The closest microcenter is about 3 hours from me, I would spend all day driving to get it, depending on if they have anything in stock.

Me too, very surprised as they're usually on top of things and sometimes ship early so delivery happens on release date. Still no date even listed for me, so I'm talking with support to at least get an eta.

Edit: talked to support, they said 1-2 days to ship, upgraded me to next day shipping and gave me a free month of Prime. As long as it ships in the next 2 days, I'll be ok with it, even if still disappointed.

Yea, I thought Amazon is a pretty sure bet too
Very surprised as other things in the past have shown up on the day of release or were shipped the day of release
Just got an email from them that they are shipping the proc, Ryzen 7 1700 on Monday. Still no ETA for the mobo

I had to order my PRIME X370 PRO from Germany (Caseking.de), they had it in stock, they shipped it a hour and half after i ordered and paid for it. Now only if the shop i ordered my 1700 from would confirm they received my payment (they have it in stock).

Got to the party late. Waited till the reviews to figure out if it failed to meet my expectations and whether it would be worth it for the 1800x over the 1700. Ended up ordering everything but the mobo from Newegg yesterday. Some of it actually showed up today. Tried to find another solution for the board (I am picky on this only about 3 of the boards meet my requirements). Gave up and ordered a backlogged Taichi from Newegg. So probably about 2 weeks before I get the system all together.

I am actually leaning pretty heavily towards a 1700X and B350 motherboard if I stick with Ryzen over Broadwell-E. It seems a better value to me. I use a single GPU setup with the only drive in my system a single 1tb m.2.

I have to say that Amazon let me down pretty hard here. I ordered the 1700x and the H100i V2. I got the cooler in two day however, they did not ship the CPU till today. This is after I chatted and tried to cancel. Said they cannot unbundle the items. So now I am thoroughly disgusted with Amazon!
Oh well I will be sending the CPU and Cooler back as Soon as the CPU arrives. Newegg all the way! Got my Board and CPU shipped with Tracking. Just ordered a diffent cooler from Jet.

Yep, I'm in the same peculiar boat as everyone else who ordered through Amazon. I am completely gobsmacked at how badly they fucked this all up. This is something I'd expect from buying off eBay, not buying off the largest eTailer on the entire damn planet...

But on the bright side Ryzen is so fast it'll time travel a day!

I noticed that curiously, my motherboard was no longer showing up next to the CPU in the tracking screen and sure enough, viewing the order screen showed it's completely MIA.

I'm too frustrated to even call and deal with anyone, given it's quite likely that there's not a damn thing that can be done. However, I would be tempted to cancel still, given it appears nothing has been charged yet. I sincerely doubt I'll find the motherboard in stock anywhere though. Won't hurt to look, I guess. (And being at the intersection No and Where, means no brick-and-mortar options.)

I kinda sorta feel guilty about it though. This isn't really AMD's fault.

I call bullcrap on this. It is partly AMDs fault. Amazon sold products they didn't have and wouldn't have stock for. AMD is partly at fault for not making the vendor only sell preorders for the amount of product being distributed to them. It's a reasonable expectation because if a vendor sells products they don't have then it makes AMD look bad. This should have been a mandatory requirement to be a vendor. If Amazon didn't like that demand I'm sure tons of other retailers (that all sold out of ryzen) would have loved some extra stock to sell.

My prime is up next month and I cancelled the renewal over this. I preordered literally within 5-10 minutes of it being posted online. Refreshed Amazon every minute after 1 PM. Their customer service was abysmal when i contacted them, essentially copped an attitude and said "tough, don't have it in stock too bad for you." No problem, I'll take my $8000+ in yearly sales somewhere else then, cocky fuckers. If I preordered something the ONLY acceptable outcome is it's either in my hand or is shipped out on release day. Period.

Not sure we can blame AMD for amazon's "abysmal" customer service. I'm pretty sure most of us wouldn't be so angry if they had told us early on they didn't have stock or offered 30 days of prime and next day shipping.

Amazon's communication has been the problem and it's not like AMD is in ANY position to dictate to Amazon how they should run their business. Though you're right Amazon is certainly hurting AMD because of all the canceled 1800x that became 1700's after they didn't ship em.

...... it's not like AMD is in ANY position to dictate to Amazon how they should run their business....

Yes and no. They can't dictate general business practices of course, but they can put stipulations and requirements on being a vendor for their products. This happens all the time in business and comes down to things such as product placement in a store being on a certain shelf or at eye sight (statistically products sell more at eye height than on bottom shelf).

Demanding that a business only allow preorders for the specific amount of stock they are receiving is a completely reasonable vendor requirement. Like I said everyone knew this was going to sell like hotcakes, tons of other vendors would have gladly accepted shipments of ryzen that were destined for Amazon if they were unwilling to take orders ethically.

Of course I don't blame AMD for Amazon's shit service, but I do blame them for not adequately setting expectations and requirements to be an AMD vendor.

I canceled my Amazon order and picked up my parts at Microcenter instead. $20 less with their combo deal (vs the $8 Amazon coupon)
Final-extra-emergency SSD backup completing soon and then I'm tearing in :jimlad:

When I chatted with Amazon early this morning and tried to cancel they couldn't stop the CPU. They did open a ticket with their lead (their words) and would get the CPU pulled back by contacting the shipper and having it returned. Supposedly 24-48 hours the order will be cancelled.

I give it a 50/50 shot of actually happening. My suspicion is that it will be on my door step and I'll have to do the return process to get it back and refund it.

I can see I'm far from the only one here who got hosed on this pre-order with them. Lots of us don't have a Microcenter or Frys to fall back on either. We're pretty much screwed. Gonna be 7-10 days minimum before I can put another order in for what I want. Out of stock all over.

EDIT: I am going to refuse delivery when it gets here. Will go straight back to them that way.

I've got cpu shipped (from CA and I'm in VA) and arriving Monday now, but nothing on the motherboard. Gonna suck having the processor and ram here but no mobo. My guess is they shipped from the only distro center that had one instead of waiting for stock to filter in nearby after I contacted support. Looks like an F up somewhere in their supply chain but at least it looks like they're trying.

If you haven't, contact them via their chat and let them know you're not pleased, may get you one shipped from a different distro center and some free stuff/shipping upgrade or something.

Yeah it sucks - if it weren't for Fry's coming through I would have been in the same situation. Amazon was a complete failure this go around.

Corsair ships their AM4 bracket in "1-2 weeks". So unless you have a crosshair motherboard you are screwed if you own any of their coolers that need the bracket. :/

I'm probably blind, but I looked all over and couldn't find any sort of contact stuff like that. :\ You have a link by chance?

Should've thought of your fellow [H]ers in need, and take shipment, but then once it arrives, mail it off to someone else (but taking payment first of course, for whatever you paid Amazon). :)

I cancelled my ryzen pre-order, think I', going to wait for Coffee Lake. Looks like intel is going to release a mainstream i7 with 6 cores in 2017. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/02/intel-coffee-lake-14nm-release-date/

Only question is motherboard compatibility, will it use 1151 or a new socket?
It's Intel. Of course it'll have a new socket. It'll be 1153, cuz, 2 more cores = 2 more pins! lol ;)

Customer service and then contact us is where I found it, I believe.

Still no ship info on my motherboard.

My stuff is coming Monday but I'm getting an itch. Found an 1800x at Fry's 20 minutes away and was about to drive there but all they have is a crappy $99 Asus motherboard. Guess I'll have to wait 2 more days...

I just wanted you to know i traveled to microcenter on release day "3 h 18 min (204 miles)" was my trip. I didn't even buy a ryzen chip i stood there for 2 hours looking at it and bought a 7700k with an AORUS Gaming 5 haha.

I don't see what your laughing about. I do not have a problem with your choosing what you want. I just hope the last laugh won't be on you.

Yes I understand. Most of the better boards are being delayed for bios updates so they will give users more stability and better performance. You should see them very soon.

RyZen 1700x received Saturday, still in box, have not checked it out yet. Motherboard is last thing I am waiting on and nor further info from NewEgg when that will be actually shipped.
