Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands

You guys playing with a controller? You would think it would be smoother that way?

No possible way I can aim and actually hit anything with a controller. I have one next to my keyboard that I pick up to fly/drive though.

Side note, is the helicopter flight controls almost impossible for anyone else? I've flown MANY arcade game helicopters before but these make no sense. Level, fast forward flight is almost impossible to do easily.

The flight model for choppers is just odd. No easy yaw controls and awkward forward control. I actually prefer using the keyboard for it than the controller. GTA5 with a controller is far better .

It's nice that GRW does a zerolag handoff of the controller/keyboard, so they can both be active at the same time. Most games introduce a delay.

As for the helicopters, yeah, it's weird. Almost like they mashed it together from the drone controls. It's unintuitive, and defies a lot of physics.

They are screwy, I tried the mouse flying and it was really bad. Might work better with a controller but on the keyboard it works.

The only time you "fly" it like a helicopter is when you are lifting off and doing basic movements. To make it more "normal" hold your go up key and forward. After about 5 seconds it will pitch forward and you will start to fly "down". Release your forward key but stay holding the "go up" key and now it will fly more like a plane. If you pull up too far or hard when you let go the thing will pitch forward to gain speed again.

Its funky but very very easy once you figure that out. Soon as you release your go up key it will pitch back to slow down and return to hover / helicopter mode.

I think I'll skip this game as visually good as it looks.....
Just have a backlog of far more deserving games I can sink my attention span into...This game seems all serious which I mean if I wanted that I would go outside and give people funny looks. Hell I never even finished the last Metal Gear (which I got for free) which I'm sure what would happen to my backlog if I bought this game.

Driving/flying is definitely better with a controller. I just leave my 360 controller plugged in and grab it when I need to. Hopefully they will change the helicopter controls at some point. It's impossible for me to aim with them, even with the controller.

I have a controller, just have not cracked it out yet for this game. Sad to hear aiming with them is not improved by it though, definitely need to fix that as its impossible with the keyboard, if you want anything that resembles accuracy.

I'll be too busy with Mass Effect Andromeda :D

This game does look pretty good, though. Might be a good pick up later in the year when I need a little change of pace from MEA.

How is this with single player campaign vs coop? It looks like a much better game in coop but I'd mainly be playing this when I travel, hotel interwebz are bad men.

As MavericK said, its the same game and no different from playing with friends except you have 3 AI bots vs humans. The only lacking part is it can be a little annoying to tell them to split up and coordinate attacks but they are definitely handy. I spent probably 50 to 60% of the Open Beta solo and was never sorry to have the bots or my friends.

Soon as friends join up they replace the AI bots and NOTHING else changes. The integration is really smooth and does not impact you in any way. If you or they are online and your lobby is open to friends joining they can come and go as they please while you play.

Is the game at least similar to Borderlands when played alone? Or is it like L4D with bots - a game meant for co-op, but just happens to have an offline mode for redundancy?

I really wanted to try this out and downloaded the open beta. But if you have multiple video cards driving different monitors the game handles it in the dumbest way possible. It uses the "first" video card instead of what you have set as your actual default video card. So for anyone who uses their onboard graphics to power extra monitors it defaults to this video card and forces you to choose one of those monitors and play using your onboard graphics card.. What makes it even more frustrating is they let you choose which monitor to play on, but it is only the monitors connected to that card. There is no option to switch video cards. They wouldn't even need one if they defaulted it to what you have set as your main monitor.

I tried the BETA for about an hour or two & though it would run longer than it did.

I just bought the full game & don't know if I need to DL the 40 GB game or if the BETA will just update?

Does anyone have an answer to this?

I downloaded the game after deleting the beta, because there was no info on this. Unlocks at 0000 est

Hello all,
I just received the activation code for Ghost Recon for a qualifying GeForece GTX 1070 graaphicas card purchased from a a local participating retailer (Micro Center), but when I tried to redeem this code, I could not find any REDEEM button under the 'Account' (upper right corner portion of GeForce Experience app).

How can I redeem this code?

Please help.

Thanks!

EDIT: OK, it seems like that you need to install the standalone version of the GeForce Expericne application and NOT the one that is bundled with the nVIDIA drivers. Once I installed the standalone version, the redeem button was available.

I still have the beta installed for now, in steam at least it shows both the main game and the beta in "Pre-load complete: unreleased" status as though it will update the beta.
Beta is on my HDD while the full game is on my SSD. Tough choice but eh I'll start over again if the beta does unlock.

You guys like the game? I don't think I'll jump on it because it doesn't look very original looks like a safe bet UBI game.

I didn't DL this last night because I was hoping the BETA could be "unlocked" & I's just download an update - BUT NOPE!

40 GB DL in progress right now & will delete the BETA after this is done.

I only had time to play the BETA for about an hour, but I liked it enough to buy it (dirt bikes baby).

The game "felt a lot like" Far Cry 4 to me & I loved FC4 co-op.

Too bad FC4 only had 4 co-op maps (I think), so this will be like FC4 x 5 w/ 20+ missions.

I'll report back later. ;)

I preordered the Gold edition and only got the basic game when I just downloaded the preload.....what the hell Ubisoft??? Didn't get any of the extras or anything that I paid for.

If you fire up Uplay... hit games, installed games, hit click on GR:W and look over the list of "owned DLC" and see if you see everything that should be there.

Also repeat those steps, right click on the GR:W graphic and do verify files.

If you bought the game on Steam, do their verify files process.

Same, I'm seeing a couple reviews that say its pretty typical. I had the same problem with Destiny and The Division where it got really tiresome quick do to the repetitive gameplay. I'm interested to see what people on here think. Standing for more reviews.

Im on the fence, got the game with my GFX card. I loved Mercenaries when that came out, and thats what this kinda brings to mind as i play it. As far as it lasting.. I dont see it..

Also first time I played it, it was buttery smooth on ultra, and after i took a break, came back, i started getting some serious stutter/2-3 second freezing.. So performance is kinda iffy.

I really enjoy the freedom of the game. You can literally go anywhere and do whatever you want and it keeps the mission timeline and story intact.

I'm having some weird performance issues though. I'm running the same settings I ran with the Beta but somehow performance is worse. I wonder if SLI is broken?

I'm sure it'll get fixed in a patch and driver update.

Ditto! I played a few hours last night w/ my buddy & we just jacked vehicles to find helo's.

We flew to the NW & SW states to reveal as much map as possible...

We got shot down & crashed a few times & decided to gather data since we were there & then we jacked new helo's.

We were just exploring & even drove a truck & MX bikes down railroad tracks & power lines to reveal map areas, etc.

We had fun & plan to start running missions tonight or tomo.

I've never really played any of the previous GR games, but I think this looks up my alley. Lots of games hitting at the moment, so I'll probably grab this during a summer Steam or Uplay sale.

It's Ghost Recon in name only, nothing like any of the other games. It follows pretty much the same formula of every Ubisoft game these days. I'm having fun with it, but I wouldn't call it overwhelmingly special. It's a time waster for me until Andromeda.

benchmark killed my system - avg fps 24.90, I suspect its a crossfire driver/profile problem.

I found this video review pretty accurate and hilarious - some NSFW language...

Boo, yeah I'm gonna pass then. everything he complained about regarding the classic Ubisoft design is exactly why I hated The Division. An entire game if pointless sandbox miniquests.

I should point out all these games saving grace is the co-op which I don't have consistent access to. These games seem geared towards the college age gamer "groups". With my friends nobody has time to consistently play anything at the same time as anybody else.

still looks like something i'd regret buying after 5-8 hours of doing the same shit.

Aye. I played the beta for about 4 hours and didn't feel compelled to play anymore.

It's a bargain bin game for me.

Arma3 is a better overall experience. I like it, a lot, but it's got some serious flaws. The whole indestructible cars thing is really kind of offputting. Drive off a cliff... no biggie. For some reason that really bugs the shit out of me. Drive 30MPH into a tree in Arma3, even in a truck, and you'll wreck the front end rendering it un-driveable, and probably take half your health away.

I'll play it with my buds, cause co-op is pretty fun, but yeah... if $ is an issue, wait for it to go on sale.
