I think a 1060 6GB is a much better deal if you're going to spend that kind of money on a refurb 980.

Not really. 1060 6GB is pretty much a 1:1 replacement for the 980 with more RAM.

980Ti is better than the 1060, the 980 is pretty much identical.

Some games the 980 will do better, which I think is due to the wider memory bus, but it seems like they are pretty close in most games. The only game where there is a huge gap is The Division and I think Far Cry Primal. The 1060 does use about 50-60 watts less tho and is a newer architecture. I would say the deal is decent.

I guess I was thinking of the Ti. Average deal then.

I wouldn't go for this - the 1080ti is coming out next week, used cards will probably start flooding the market from people upgrading.

Yep. No way would I buy this even if the 1080 Ti wasn't coming soon. A used 980 Ti from the FS/T forum isn't much more and will be significantly faster.

Its too expensive. 980 TI's are gonna start showing up for this price, or less.

well i bought an AMD fury for $239 a few weeks ago... id rather have a 980ti for VR / project cars so in that light, otherwise i have to spend $100 more to get a 1070.

Pretty much. As soon as 1080Ti shows up and compresses everything downwards.

Or you could be one of the lucky SOBs that got in on that Amazon 980Ti price mistake a few weeks back :)
