At the bottom of the article there is plenty of good information

Good stuff, having a browse...

EDIT - You know, I'm not really impressed by this XFR. My 3960X seems to creep up to 4550-4600 when I have it on 4500 for reasons I have no idea, but always thought it was cool it did that. I guess I just built up an expectation that these things would clock through the roof with the TDP set so low, but that's not the reality. I think it's so low because it has half the extras the HEDT Intels have to manage (don't quote me there though).

Anyway 4Ghz daily seems like the target sweetspot from the data I am seeing.

EDIT 2 - Interesting link from that site (Not so good for Ryzen vs 7700k or 6900k): https://translate.google.nl/transla...ttp://www.mykancolle.com/?post=1377&sandbox=1

It seems to me that XFR is rather useless and that's why i tell people to get 1700 because it is same chip as 1800x and it is also unlocked in other words, set proper voltage and an appropriate multiplier and you will have 1700 flying 4.0 - 4.2Ghz for almost $200 less. Compared to Intel 6xxx series and Kaby Lake series i am not impressed with AMD overclocking. Intel 6 cores will reach 4.6Ghz easy and 8 and 10 cores 4.4Ghz, Kaby Lake will peak at 5.0Ghz with nothing fancy of cooling...regular AIO.

I love all the hate for XFR. Anything to poo poo on AMD. No one can find anything else to complain about, so I'm sure someone will even complain about the smell of the box it came in and say AMD is a loser.

But have you SMELLED that box? Truly horrific.

Can't wait to see some real reviews comparing the 1700 to the 1700x / 1800x.

From the data I seen stock speeds are wicked fast. Overclocking might not yield what you think. I probably wont be aggressive on mine. I need 5 years out of my Zen before another leap unlesd Zen plus is just badass.

The claims about 4.6 Ghz on 6 cores and 4.3 Ghz on 8-10 cores just amazes me. You have to put a lot of voltage on those processors to achieve those clocks. It is not like you can do it in every unit.

This is nothing but good for the industry and enthusiests as a whole.

This processor release has already boosted component sales across the board.
It will boost game sales.. (Because damn I want the newest game to watch my sweet rig work.)
It will boost additional OS sales. (what my windows 7 can't run Directx 2 that takes advantage of my Ryzen chip.. well guess I'll bite the bullet and go windows 10)

It will be a very healthy quarter for the industry.. mostly in thanks to AMD. (And tax returns in the US.)

It's interesting that smelling the processor box seems to be a new and popular way of measuring performance increase...

It's really the stickers that come with it. I saw a few unboxing videos, and there didn't appear to be stickers. Everyone knows stickers add +100Mhz.

So it's the smell of the box, the stickers, or the combined packaging?

This new-school processor review method has me stymied...

Update: According to redtit on the internal test revealed that the existing AIDA64 memory tests are outdated, will get the wrong test results.

They use the right software, the internal test of the delay of 19ms, far below this figure, more than Skylake IMC better!

And the current BIOS is not an official version, there are many places need to adjust, especially in memory

That makes a few things clearer ;)

I think this is wishful thinking (and I ordered a 1700). I'm sure the 1700x and 1800x are higher bin chips that have more overhead. I'd say at least 200mhz+ between 1800x and 1700 for max o/c with the 1700x in between.

Well I'm not hating on AMD, or I wouldn't of preordered. Glad to see them back in the saddle, just a bit :/ over some of their decisions in design

you can't really use TDP has a comparison between intel and AMD due to the way both companies measure it differently. there was an article a few years ago describing the differences, i'll have to spend some time finding it.

I hope you are right. Ive been doubting whether I made the right decision with a 1800x order. Either way I dont care since I did mine thru MC and Im pretty sure they will let me swap out if I want when I get there. Im just anxious to see something more legitimate so I can make my mind up.

If you want to overclock, use XFR as a starting point. Then go to bios and manually overclock add some voltage a few other settings and I am sure you will squeeze out 200or 300 additional megahertz, if you have adequate cooling.
