Are HDR displays inherently higher latency? I'm interested in one but that seems to be a thing with TVs from my limited research.

Yeah... I have a 1080 and I am thinking of skipping 2 gens. I can play everything at at least high at 3440x1440.

Really the only thing that might cause me to upgrade are components dying or Gen2 or 3 of VR.

My main rig consists of two 970s in SLI. I will be replacing them with 2x 1080 Tis when they come out.

Although I do have 6x 980 Ti's and 2x 1080 GPUs they're not in my gaming rig and only one of the 980 Ti's sees any kind of gaming (its in my HTPC).

Huh, that's odd. Never knew that or played the Japanese versions

They didn't want to be sued for using Mike Tyson's likeness..

Not to take away from this thread, hoping the 1080ti doesn't top out much past $700.

Will we get HDR 1080p tv?
If you have HDR media, a player that supports HDR, a 10/12bit amp route or direct to your TV and a TV that supports HDR.
Then yes.

Gfx cards have supported 10/12bits per colour for a long time.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have a 1080ti but right now @ 1440p for the games I'm playing it would not be noticeable. I might be able to turn up a couple options to max but it's hard to justify paying that much for such a marginal gain. I'll just wait for Vega because why the hell not?

Wait has the 1080Ti officially been confirmed and released??? If not then what is the point of this thread?

I am going to wait on Vega and 1080TI. I want the best possible 4K performance available to me without paying 1.2K.

I will most likely be switching from my dual Maxwell based Titan X's to a pair of 1080Ti's.

I voted without knowing if the 1080ti will slay at 4K. We'll see when it hits.

If there is some indication Vega will some how be super awesome and it's launch not too far off from the 1080Ti, I'll wait. Aside from that, I think the 1080Ti should be a nice upgrade from where I'm at.

Nope. Even if the Ti will handle 4K better, the normal GTX1080 needs more than just a subtle nudge to do well in my games that don't already handle it well. With my games it either does 4K just fine (especially with scaling) or it's waaaaay off and it'll take another generation past the Ti to do it.
I don't need to upgrade yearly. Bi-annual upgrades have served me well.

I will probably upgrade depending on price. I will spend at most $750 for one with an AIO cooler (which is what I paid for my 980Ti w/ AIO). Other than that. I don't think it would be worth it for anyone with a 1080 to upgrade to, you might as well wait for the 1180 (or whatever it's going to be called). I just plan on doing an upgrade anytime the Ti model comes out since that is generally about every 2 years.

I hope Vega is a hit though, but I won't be getting one no matter how good it is cause I'll probably already have a 1080Ti. I did the wait for Fury thing last time and it was a severe disappointment. The only way I wait for Vega is if Vega NDA is over before the 1080Ti release and it blows it away in both normal and VR benchmarks.

Unlike the regular rumors of Ti being announced, this one is based off of Nvidia's website.

It has a countdown with the caption "it's almost time" with the TI in time bolded, the background is metal that looks suspiciously like titanium, and the hashtag #ultimategeforce leads one to believe they're announcing the Ti.

At this point if they don't announce it tomorrow they're just being assholes.

For 4K I am going to do a step-up from a 1080 to the 1080 Ti (Thanks EVGA and their iCX program resetting the step-up window!!!!).

Yes, if this card is beyond 699, I am not buying one.

That's $699 FE as well. Anything more that, Volta is a better option to wait for a 4K card.
This card is coming towards the EOL of Pascal. To charge above last years 1080 price, according to my willingness and wallet, is laughable.

Might hold off another year or two to upgrade. My Titan X maxwell still does me just fine, but it all depends.

No point, in my view for 1440p, unless you're looking to do >60FPS all the time on intensive titles.

My 1080, bought on release day, is going to turn out to have very long legs I think.

I think Titan Volta is the way to go. Probably going to be nearly 60% faster than the current Titan XP. That's enough juice for a steady 4K 60fps and 120fps gaming at lower resolutions.
If AMD is strong enough, we may see the price come back down to $999.

I'm at 3440x1440 @ 95 Hz, so GPU horsepower isn't as badly needed. Plus the only game on my radar for now is Rising Storm 2; not that demanding if it'll be anything like the first.

2560x1440 right now. No plans on going up to 4k. I have a 1080 right now but I still want just a little more performance. I have a Kaby Lake cpu, z270 motherboard, and 64gb of Dominator waiting in a box for me to order a case and cooler. It would be a good time to upgrade round out my rig with a ti. This is all assuming its a good step up from my current 1080.

My 1070 must be on steroids because I can play all my games at 4k 60+fps. Mostly high and medium settings. I've read everywhere that you at least need a 1080 to even think about doing anything game wise with 4k. Ran the GTA-V benchmark at 4k and it was locked at 60FPS. Turned off V-Sync and the GTA-V benchmark went from 80FPS to 120 FPS and this is at 4k. What I'm I doing wrong? I haven't tried all high or ultra settings But I would imagine that my 1070 could still handle it. And this was on stock clocks for my 1070. 4400MHZ for the processor. To answer your question. No... No need to get a TI.

Last new gpu I purchased was a gtx 480, the rest have been used (gtx 680) so I am defiantly purchasing a 1080ti. It's going to be a massive jump in performance.

I choose not to waste good games with lower quality settings, I want the best experience from the start.
ie ultra and some tweaks.
Although I rarely have time to play a game more than once.

If you intend on playing it again later maxed out, fair enough.
If not, your loss.

I think I'll hold out for the 2000 GTX cards I just don't play alot of demanding games mainly RPG games recently. i found out upgrading the processor future proofs buying cards all the time and running a 2k instead of a 4k monitor.

To be honest It's hard to tell the difference between high and ultra. I'll try all ultra tonight.

I guess Nvidia was wayyy ahead of me. And that's a good thing.

I was counting on the Ti coming in at $799-899 so $699 is a nice surprise - but so is the 1080 at $499 now.

I really likes my NV Surround system (1080P x 144Hz) for the 3+ years I had it and I'm trying to figure out if a pair of 1080Tis will run 3x 1440p with good performance or if I should just go for a 21:9 and a single Ti

When do the reviews come out?
