I'm never buying a console every again.....I think all the good games will be on PC no matter what in the future there was a time when this wasn't the case.
Say mid 2000s when PC games were scare and everything was on the PS2 PS3 or X-Box or X-Box 360.

Consoles back in the 80s and 90s totally were exclusive driven sometimes a good PC game would make it on the console.

What a crap video. Yes if you forcefully push down on the system it might fall over. It's like willfully driving a car into a wall and blaming the car for crashing. It's only meant to stand up the tablet so that it can be watched, not pressed.

Yeah, it did look like the guy was pushing on it with a decent amount of force to make it fall over. I'll be taking that video with a grain of salt, but it ks concerning that he struggled to get the joycons off with the kickstand out.

My concern would be how easily it falls over if you are using it on a plane and there is turbulence or something. Seems like having the kickstand be closer to the center, or having one on both sides could have alleviated this issue.

The video is hilarious, but obviously very fake and exaggerated. In an article on CNET's site they even admit it's bullshit.

CNET said:
To be fair, the Switch doesn't wobble if you set it down on a level surface

So if that's the case how the hell has the author managed to knock it over "over a dozen times" in two days? From literally every single other video I've seen of people using the Switch and everything I've read about people using it they say it's stable on the kickstand and it's easy to removed and reattach the Joy-Cons.

From other videos I've seen: Hold the Joy-Cons, use a finger to push the buttons in the back, put thumbs on top of the Switch, push down with thumbs and pull up with hand. Not a terribly complicated process. Your thumbs will hold down the Switch. If you have a weaker grip or hands too small to do that, just remove them one at a time using your free hand to hold the Switch down. It's been shown in several trailers for the Switch and it has to be designed to be relatively easy to remove so you don't accidentally yank the Switch out of the dock in the process. With the hardware NDA having been up since Thursday and Nintendo seemingly have sent a few hundred, or more, units out to Youtubers, reviewers, etc we would have heard by now if there was a real issue disconnecting the Joy-Cons from it. Much like the de-sync issue has been widely reported already.

I'm just surprised this made it past Nintendo's QA. Their hardware has almost always been solid physically. The exception that I can think of was the Wii Gamecube interface door. That thing was flimsy, but rarely used.

Sure, that video is heavily exaggerated but it's not the first time I've read the weakness of that kickstand mentioned.

Hinges on the DS and 3DS line of systems were notorious for cracking, the pins inside the NES that read the carts often developed issues. While a lot of the times Nintendo hardware is well built and sturdy they do occasionally cut corners and run into issues. It's not to see that the kickstand can be popped back on, I figured the thing would snap in two with a little force applied to it.

While buying more accessories is not an ideal solution, I think for people that want to use tabletop mode, or whatever they're calling it, a lot something like Hori's adjustable stand would be a better option. Plus you can still keep it plugged in that way, unlike tabletop mode.

True, and tbh, I think the kickstand is probably going to be the least used way to play the console (I know for me it definitely will be).

What is that, who cares what a bunch of random hipsters think?

Those people are teens in the splash screen image? They look like 30 year olds.

I realize my point is moot, as I didn't watch the video. I just wanted to comment. :D

Anyone know if the pro controller will be in stock at retailers on launch day?

Lol @ those dislikes.

So what does it mean when all pre-order's are "sold out". Will there be stock this friday in brick & mortar's? I wonder...

Yeah. Sounds like not every single produced unit is slated for pre-orders. I've got a friend that works at Target and they got a few of them. Not sure how many since he didn't count them and I didn't think to ask until after he was done with work. I do know that his store got like 20-30 Switches though so that's a good sign.

That's good to know, I'd like to grab one this weekend if that's the case (woo long birthday weekend).

Anyone know if the USB ethernet adapters for the Wii and WiiU will work? My router is literally a foot from the machine so it seems pointless to use wireless if I don't have to.

then again, based on answers on that page, it appears wii/wiiu adaptor may work:

Question: Can i use the wii lan adapter instead of this?
Answer: Yes. It appears to be basically identical. If you already own one of those LAN adapters, it should work.

I can see no reason it shouldn't work (no reason it should either, mind you), but both word from HORI customer support and filings in Japan show this is that this one is USB 3.0 and supports Ethernet 10/100/1000. Note the Wii adapter was USB 2.0 and supported ethernet 10/100. In other words, this one will be potentially much faster.
That being said, there are other LAN adapters that use the exact same internals as what the filings show this one as using that are less than half the price. The AmazonBasics model, for example. As well as the Plugable model that is actually the USB3-10/100/1000 next generation equivalent of the Plugable LAN adapter that was specified for the Wii/Wii U.

I certainly hope it does. This damn thing is going to cost me a small fortune before it's all said and done. Between a memory card, Zelda, the pro controller, and and sort of charging accessories I'm looking at a $500 expense for a system I don't really even like.

anybody know of stores that are going to have the switch in stock

Most of them probably will. How much is a different story. Gamestop apparently is holding a bunch of units for launch day instead of pre-order and sounds like Target is getting a decent amount it. Your best bet is to call around to stores the day before launch and ask them how many they'll have.

I disconnected and boxed up my WiiU on Sunday and renamed my AVR input. Now I just need to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for all of the accessories I'm going to have to buy.

Check your local Walmart and Target locations for stock via Brickseek. There should be a good number available between the Gray and Neon versions.

Ive been preparing my budget since christmas. Now i can officially say i wont need another mortgage :D

Our Walmart has been sold out like a week after it was announced so like a Month or more.

Use a cash-back credit card, save some of those pennies! I'm hoping that there'll be some stock on Friday so I can just walk in/out.

I'm driving myself into the ground with my backlog, between FF15, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Zelda, I'm in a seemingly endless amount of games.

Best Buy and Target are both offering units without preorders. Best Buy at 12AM and Target at 8AM.

I wonder how long the lines will be and how early I'd need to "camp out" to get one. I'd really like to be able to play Zelda and I didn't preorder. #firstworldproblems

I think my plan is just to buy Zelda and a Pro Controller on Friday. I'm hoping the Rocketfish USB/Ethernet adapter I bought for the WiiU will work. If not, I'll probably just stay wireless.
I'll evaluate the need for various charging options, cases, memory cards, etc. as I'm hoping I won't need all of those things.
The other games I want (Arms, Street Fighter, Mario Kart) won't be out yet.

Ooooh - just got a shipping notification from Best Buy. Mine's on the way. I place my order when BB had pre-orders up for almost a full day 3 weeks ago. Guess those were real.
