Pillars of Eternity II

Yeah I'm not too far in either. I like it, just no time like I used to. Would need the game to be on tablet so I could play it on the road. Don't see why it couldn't be done either.

Yeah I have the strategy guide for the 1st one but I'm not even on Act II

Replace that tablet with a Surface Pro and you wouldn't have to worry about it being ported to a mobile OS.

I've moved off Windows for all intents and purposes except 1 gaming rig. Running Linux on the Surface Pro would be interesting though, and it could help fix that battery life.

I backed the first one on Kickstarter way back when but haven't even had time to install or play. Is it good? Any idea if I can play on a Steam controller (Steam link on TV)?

I never heard of FIG maybe it always them to be more flexible than Kickstarter. I don't think the campaign for fundraising started just yet.

One of the major differences is that you can actually opt to 'invest' in the game and get a return (your money plus more) back based on sales. Sounds like a good idea. Problem is with a lot of these niche games people who want to buy them pay into the crowd fund and those numbers don't count towards sales.

Get your name in the credits for $99? Uhhh....:LOL::LOL:

Temporary Digital Immortality I would like to name a spell for the Tier in the game that would be awesome would name it like Charlizard or something sure I wouldn't have control over what the spell does.

Yeah, the first one is amazing, (I still need to go finish act 4 in the main campaign and then WM2, but everything I've played so far is outstanding) This will probably be the first game I ever kickstarter.

First game i bought the dlc at full price

Nice it's at one million already I would contribute but hate waiting around for the Key.
Plus it's going to be funded no matter what...

1. FIG? Noooooooo, thank you.

2. Crowdfunding again?! GTFO, use your own money or find investors, both of which shouldn't be hard from sales of the first one.

I criticized them in the past for this too, but wasn't Tyranny fully self funded?

According to the description in the link, I'm presuming they were initially using the profits from the first game already:

We're already working hard on Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. So far, we've been funding the game on the success of Pillars of Eternity. This has given us the freedom to start creating an amazing story – one that we're excited to share. With your support, we can make Pillars of Eternity II the best role-playing game it can possibly be.

Kind of curious just how much they used or if they flat out ran out already, hence this crowdfunding effort?

I think its important to remember that crowdfunding can take many forms these days. I've had good experiences with Fig.co thus far and they have a notable difference from Kickstarter because they also offer the option to actually invest (as in, yes, for stock and returns are possible in many forms depending on the particular parameters of the raise) even for Unaccredited Investors (aka most people without higher six figure incomes, 2 million in assets, or ownership of certain kinds of stock/membership on a company's board of directors, among a few other possibly qualifying events). The platform is smaller than Kickstarter because of this and (much like Microventures, which isn't exclusively gaming related) and Fig themselves basically pick out promising projects to support; if I recall Psychonauts 2 , Consortium: The Tower, and Wasteland 3 are titles on Fig that were selected because of the performance of their previous games, just like Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Of course, Fig also offers "traditional" crowdfunding pledges without investment on titles as well, for those who just want to contribute/pre-order.

The original Pillars and its expansion was crowdfunded as well and much like Divinity: Original Sin, they go back to crowdfunding even as established studios. Crowdfunding in this case is more like "extra-early pre-ordering, provided the funding goal is met " where players and developers alike benefit. Typically players get a significant discount (PoE1 was a $50+ game at launch depending on edition and its sequel is likely to be the same, but you can get it for $30 on Fig while crowdfunding is open) as well as some additional bonuses, in-game or otherwise. Developers get some guaranteed income that isn't tied to the purse-strings of publishers, and it also allows them to expand the scope of the game "on public record" with things like stretch goals, but does create a tacit agreement for more transparency and a greater role of the backers in the process. Sure, the whole process can be mismanaged by some studios, but bad games and management can happen anywhere so I wouldn't be too worried in that regard. Given the original PoE was crowdfunded and both the process and final product received good reviews, PoE2 is on firm footing in this regard. If you liked the first title and/or the genre as a whole and think you may purchase the second, locking it in for $30 isn't a bad proposition.

Edit: At time of this writing there are 12 days remaining on the Fig campaign, and they have met their initial goal and are beginning to knock down stretch goals both based on dollar amounts, and number of backers. I'm thinking it will be likely they'll get a few by the time the campaign is over.

$3.5 million with 36 hours to go. If the usual last-minute pledges come in, they will raise quite a decent amount of money.

I'm one of the last minute pledges. I usually jump on these things but have been spending way too much money on other hobbies lately.
But couldn't pass on this one. Really love all the old school games we have been getting....Torment soon!

Dood.....it's up to 4 Millions that is Amazing I see they offer both a 30% and 50% coupons for Tyranny now.
Tyranny is on sale this weekend for this first time on Steam still haven't picked it up think I might.

2 Hours left ladies and gentlemen!

Last chance pledges, get going! Oh, by the way.. if you backed a title on Fig before, you probably have a $5 super-backer credit in an email link they sent you!

They've completed even more stretch goals, down to the wire! They're at 4.33M at the time of writing!

Note - After you select a main pledge, you can also buy lots of extras (or redeem coupons). For instance, want the complete expansion pass for PoE2? Its there for only $20! Buy a hoodie, buy a t-shirt, buy other games etc... There's even an $8 "Black Isle Bastards" pirate crew special icon!

You can order the game I haven't finished the 1st one but I'll get around to it sometime I'm on the Winters March DLC.
I got that android companion then got to the white dragon and stopped playing cause I couldn't defeat that white dragon.
You might want to pick up the DLC right away for POE 2 since their are 3 of them in the pipeline.

Thank God they reduced combat Speed first game even though you could pause was way too fast NPC MOBS would just zerk you and you would have to reload.

I have had my wallet out for this twice. Stopped myself twice. I really enjoyed the first one, but the other game was just short and easy. Might not be able to keep resisting...

You play the DLC White March I and II

This game looks good released date is slated for Early May. I ordered the
Obsidian Edition which included all the DLC.

I haven't hopped on this game yet, or the first, but the videos make it look like DOS2 only with worse graphics.

Is that a fair comparison?

Divinity OS 1 had better graphics than DOS 2 which was really cluttered. POE 1 was really hard on the eyes except for the DLC and some parts playing on a 24" monitor.

I tried playing the first game on 3 separate occasions but I can't get myself to continue, theres a crapload of reading, too much reading, I prefer more action.
