One of the big distributors (3-letter name :p) just called me and told me they should be getting in the 1700X today/tomorrow (obviously not for shipping at this time), looks like $379 my price. Tax exempt + shipping of course. Kinda meh, can get it for not much more (w/free shipping) from Newegg and also get some cashback site cashback. I think I am going to just hold back until launch.

Interesting that Microcenter has their SKUs listed as a "sale" where the discounted price matches the MSRP everyone else carries them at.

Also no motherboards

Debating Amazon or Newegg but neither has the particular Gigabyte board I had been looking at.

I cancelled newegg and reordered from amazon. 2 day shipping for free (prime) so it ends up being $17 less vs. newegg with 3 day shipping.

To be honest, how much of the interest in AMD (as opposed to Ryzen in particular) is to avoid having to purchase DDR4 (a must for the Intel Lake series) as opposed to being able to carry over your existing DDR3 (if you have anything from Haswell back to even Sandy Bridge if you are currently driving Intel, for example)? I'm not saying that is necessarily a BAD thing - I'm considering Ryzen for that exact reason; however, be honest and straight-up if that's the case.

In my case, I am going with the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon/AMD FX-8350 tag-team because I can carry over everything else (except the OS, of course). I also gain two more DIMM slots (my current mobo has just two); my current case is ATX (I went with my current motherboard for reasons of price - not space issues).

I pre-ordered mine already like a day or two ago. Got the confirmation from Microcenter.

Got a 1700X. In another post I asked to get 1800x or 1700x and Kyle said "1700X"

That told me enough right there. He has more than likely already benched the chips and knows stuff. Now we wait like 36 hours or whatever for NDA to lift and its on.

Good thing pre-order at microcenter doesn't cost money. If its a fail then cancelling is super easy.

I'm really surprised that MC doesn't at least require a CC hold. What is with no preorder on the MB anyway?

Been intel since I goofed and didn't put a HSF on my 1.2 Athlon Tbird. DUH.
