World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

Played a few in the Shiratsuyu, got some nice torp hits but never felt like I was carrying a game because WASD was in full effect in the matches I've played today. Ultimately I feel that it's guns let it down. Played a few in Belfast, seemed like it was best in a supporting role and everyone was trying to blow you out of the water at first sight. Hopped into my sims, man this thing is a beast in ranked. I think it fits the early meta better because you can win gun fights and cruisers/bb's just don't want to move into an area where Sims is raining down shells. I've been playing the cap very aggressively and the sims seems to reward it. It's got the speed, smoke, rudder shift, rof, and low detection range torps.

Ran into RDF in a hand full of games, made me feel like "bring it, mf". I just kept a decoy ship behind me, and tried to get in the rdf user's face. Got into a long win streak. Fun ship, and it pays well (both XP and credits). I feel like it's torps are a bit weak with respect to flooding, compared to Shiratsuyu.

All of the battles I played today were ranked, and they all seemed to go very quick. They all seemed to be decided early, and super intendant might not be needed on the sims. Might spend the points elsewhere, like DE.

I'm running a 17 point skipper with CE and IFHE.

So far my priority target list is Atlanta / Indy / Belfast. Stay out of their radar to render it ineffective, and harass the shit out of them.

On DDs I prefer BFT/DE/SE/AR over IFHE. The only place I contemplate using IFHE is the kooter and Belfast.

I also use fire flags...
 
Yea, I would only use IFHE on 150-155mm guns and 100mm guns. {unless your an altanta / flint}

Unless you are a Kurfust secondary build.

As for ranked, been using the sims to great effect.

Always fun to torp a belfast smoke that has a belfast, a pepsi, a scarnie, and a colorado in it. Belfast really is a party boat.

I tried out IFHE on the shim, it works really well, now fighting other dds, I'm doing 3-4k in some shots. Also put it on the Sims / Fletcher, works well there
 
Well, lets get this season of ranked off right. Been playing the sims, since it seems to have a hidden modifier that increases base XP. This game was actually fun for me, since we were losing at the mid point and when their two german BBs pushed, we were able to sink one and hurt the other one pretty good.

As for the IFHE, that doesn't matter to DD's, since they can already pen armor that is 21 mm, when every DD (minus khab) has 19 mm or lower. at 127mm, their pen with IFHE goes from 21mm of armor to 27mm of armor.

Is it just me, or is BFT not worth it on the sims? 3.3 second reload is 18rpm, 3 second reload is 20rpm. 4 guns, so you gain 8 rpm? Doesn't seem worth it.

I have seen the data sheet, I'm talking from actual experience, give it a shot in the training room :p
 
Is it just me or is ranked MM trolly as hell? I've been in so many matches with 2 radar ships on the opposing team and none on my team. Makes me feel like punching WG in the nuts.

One game I had four Belfast on my team and one Atlanta on theirs. It was an easy game for me...
 
Been in the hospital for 8 days, and probably a week to go. Wish they had an iPad version :)

Stupid leg infections again.

I hope everyone who has been told to evacuate, does so.

Kami has appearently had to evacuate (I can only guess he lives downstream of that dam in Cali thats in trouble.

It's still 10% dpm increase, doesn't matter if it gets you 1 sec or 10 seconds. And since these guns do shit for damage, you need every round available when up close against another dd.
 
yea, like it cant do its job, which is to allow excess lake water to safely flow away...

kinda hard to believe that what is basically just a concrete ramp has failed..

Yeah, that's the same conclusion I came to after thinking about it for a few minutes.

I've been making the Shiratsuyu pay off today. Has anyone tried the Akatsuki? Watching a few matches it seems like it's guns are pretty punchy.

not a great night. Lost 8 matches in a row but didnt loose a star. Seems that every myoko just yolo rushes in to die. Picked up enough wins to make it to rank 10.
Bouncing between ships alot. Not having great success with the scharn, has trouble dealing damage to other german battleships and its hard to play aggressive with so much smoke. IFHA belfast is nice, but with so much radar, its hit and miss. When the cruiser cue is full, I went on a rip with my Indianapolis. Its dispersion is so tight that you can dev strike RN cruisers with ease.

Colorado is a blast. The dispersion has been allowing me to deal great damage and its low speed means there is always a german BB out infront taking all the fire. Keeping the german BBs at range lets me deal big hits regardless of angle.

so far im not nearly as salty as previous seasons.
 
Dave or Neo, I haven't been around the OP TS for a while, and not sure if I'm still in OP :p can one of you guys find out ? I was in OPG2 ?
 
USA Torpedoes are too OP for me right now. I keep destroying my Texas Cathetor every few hours. Need flooding recovery increase option in slot 1 :)

And my 405mm snot-rockets need to be nerfed so they don't reload so damn fast.

Not sure Banana, I can check, do you still want to be? It would be OPS, not OP2, since op1-3 have scrim requirements, but OPS doesn't have any attendance requirements.

I can scrim on Thursdays :) if 1/2 scrims is enough then I'm good with opg1/2/3, otherwise s is good

Really wish that the sims had better torps :( Feels pretty crappy when you get a DD with a torp and only do 5k damage. Also want to point out that the kiev was first blood at 3 mins in. Still did better than two of his teams, both that lasted almost the whole game.
