CONAN Exiles funcom game

I'm hoping into the game to give it a try. Been following it for a while and love the Conan universe so hoping they pull this off.

So steam servers or private servers? Private servers more for PvE and whatnot I take it?

This game is on sale on Steam and it has 8,000+ people playing currently I liked what I seen in this game but wondering if the dedicated servers will save my stuff.
I hope the game takes off and changes a bit. I'm going to install it again to check out the new DLC even though I might have to start over.....

After starting over a dozen or so times, I'm done beta testing this for them. I get that's the double edged sword of early access, but I was given this game as a gift so I'm under no pressure to beta test it further. :D

I'm reading into this game they added some new content called the Frozen North I suppose you lose life when you don't have enough clothes on.

Game is getting some better buzz and Steam reviews closer to launch (May 8). Looks like they are going to do a hybrid PVP server as well where buildings can't be destroyed and ganking only occurs in prime time hours. Could be interesting.

PvE Conflict: On a PvE Conflict server you can only damage other players during prime time (5pm – 11pm local server time). Building damage is turned off at all times. These servers will at first only be available on PC. We may roll them out later for PS4 and Xbox One post-launch, depending on their popularity.

Picked it up yesterday. It's not bad, it's not incredibly polished. It feels like an adult minecraft. Progression is slow feeling. The world graphics are pretty decent looking, but the character models are kinda meh. Some of the material farming feels tedious. I'm playing solo/offline though, so I'm sure if I actually had friends it would be faster to group up with other humans.

This is a great idea. It fixes one of the main issues with survival games of its type in an innovative way. Thankfully Conan has more "PVE" options than most of its genres ( The Forest and 7 Days to Die are other great PVE style multiplayer title, along with Subnautica and The Long Dark but those are single player for the moment), but for those who still want some PVP possibility - its Conan after all - here's a way to do it without having someone burn down your fortress when you log off. Hopefully this will be accompanied by a major balancing setup for servers that do allow full time PVP and/or siege to make it a major effort and requiring the right kind of (limited, expensive, hard to make) equipment to destroy constructed items.

Hopefully a balance pass will be coming. I've not played since the early days of EA, but from what I hear that yes - playing online with others will help in a major way (not unlike ARK and other titles of its type) makes the building/gathering less time consuming. Ideally, they could tweak certain rates for an "single player only only game" as default. However, there has been lots of overall criticism saying that the gathering/farming/crafting element can be too grindy, so they will probably add more flavor and activity, as well as greater progression dynamics.

Since I'm playing solo I can make myself admin of my "server" and alter drop rates and what not. Basically a cheat mode. It helped a bit with the grind, but there's always a devil on your shoulder telling you to "let yourself do a bit more damage, it's ok!".

Basically shelved this game since 2017 and started playing again now that's it's out of early access. Combat has been overhauled and the map has been expanded. Enjoying it a lot more now, glad I didn't sink too much time into it during EA/beta.

It's still early on so we have 5-10 regular players spread across 2 clans (Grey Wardens and Order of Lions).

Logged back in yesterday, built a stable and raised a Foal. Now have battle pony.

Very nice!

There have now been two seasons of DLC, including the recent one that is concentrated on mounts, going along with the implementation of mounted combat and mount raising.

Conan Exiles really seems to do their expansion/DLC right. Each pack is themed to a certain Hyborian civilization (for the most part) which offers tons of building materials, cosmetics/placeables, weapons, armors etc... in the style of that culture. None or more powerful than what can be found in the base game (many of which have multiple tiers for materials required etc... so making a basic Khitan style weapon or armor set uses similar materials as a basic standard set, and the same with a high end end-game variant) There have also been those that go along with a certain type of content, such as the Blood and Sand which is focused on building gladiator style stuff from a fighting pit to a ludus, vaults and the like ; it too comes with new aesthetics and weapons set. Debaucheries of Derketo is a personal favorite because it is a nod to roleplayers, with new emotes, building pieces for a treetop suspended city as well as inns/taverns etc... among other assets, proving Funcom's dedication to those who want some non-combat focused options as well, too. The latest pack is focused on mounts, so things like build packs and placeables for stables etc... come alongside skins, armor and the like.

Overall I think its one of the better multiplayer survival games out there and one with an increasing amount of PVE content, amazingly. Furthermore, they also have a really neat server type that I think all games of the genre should embrace - Instead of being full on PVE on completely open PVP, there's an option for "Open PVP against characters anytime, but buildings can only be destroyed during active hours", so nobody has to worry that they'll log off after prime time and find someone has destroyed their city while they were asleep. I'm hoping the game is successful and overall will continue to thrive into the third content season!

I wish this game wasn't a survival based game if it was a MMO I probably would of played it like crazy.

I play a mix of combat, exploration and building. Finding cool Thralls is also fun.

This is "Aoda Maneater", A purge captured Darfari Cannibal that has saved my ass a few times.
Like when I walked in to a pirate camp and got jumped, killed. Ran back to my corpse and there she was, waiting, with noting but bodies all around her.
