Judging by this sneak peak, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Star Lord will be facing off against a giant purple eggplant in the next Avengers film—I am literally shaking. Based on Marvel’s track record, it is hard to imagine that they could screw this up in any way (financially, at least), but ol’ Thanos looks like he needs some tweaking if they want me to buy that he is a threat to Thor, Dr. Strange, and the billion other characters that this one is supposed to include. (The cinematography and action editing in Civil War was absolutely atrocious, so I wish they got someone like Gunn to do this instead.)

“Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of Iron Man 1, and it really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together, which at the time had never been done before. And for us the important thing is making it all come together. We know they’re gonna face Thanos; we’ve been setting that up since Avengers 1. How do you do that in a way that is unexpected, that pits the Avengers against somebody who is more powerful than anyone they’ve faced, and yet make them completely unprepared to face them? Well, tear them apart, which is why we did Civil War before Infinity War… Thanos shows us why he’s the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we’ve ever had, and the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced.”

Oh I dunno. I thought Guardians was a nice change of pace, and I thought Civil War was not a great movie. I almost said "bad", but it's just "not great". The DC movies (exception to Nolan's Batman) are "bad".

How are they going to combine all these characters together to fight Thanos, who is basically a god?

I mean you might as well mix in Vader and a Death Star if we're blending all kinds on non-related things together.

Please note that I am not into the comics so I only can go by what I've seen in the movies.

The comics themselves are so convoluted I'm not even sure who is more powerful that who at this point.

Sure Thanos is powerful but depending on what era/universe/multi-verse/etc... you're referring too so is everyone else.

Dr. Strange at the top of his game protects multiple universes at once like it's childsplay.

Comics are confusing to keep track of...

Thanos without the gauntlet is just a typical badass, along the lines of power of a Silver Surfer. The Infinity Gauntlet is what makes him a god. It was a great comic series...but it's going to be an amazing feat to pull it off on screen.

they really need to kill off a bunch of major characters for the stakes to mean anything...so what happens after Infinity War?...a new MCU with new Marvel characters?...I don't think they can pull off another 10 year series, maybe cut it down to 5

I watched Civil War on Netflix recently. It was... Boring. My wife was either laughing at how stupid it was or confused because of the apparent lack of motivation for most of the characters. At the end, it felt like nothing meaningful had changed.

Winter Soldier, Iron Man and Guardians were really awesome movies.

Most of the rest have been overhyped albeit decent popcorn flicks.

Thanos, while he still had his gauntlet, was unmatched.

Civil War was pretty bad. I just got fed up seeing CGI people being smashed into walls again...and again...and again...

Iron Man is still the best of the bunch.

Looks like most of this crowd needs to get back to their independent foreign art films or something. I think this movie is going to kick ass, just like the rest of the Marvel movies have.

Marvel needs to leave the cookie cutter script alone for this one, it ruined age of ultron which was still a decent movie and stop forcing super fights like iron man and the hulk!

Don't get me wrong the fight was awesome but the entire time I was like "but why??"

Ironman 3 was pretty boring, only marvel movie I disliked the most.

Yeah it was pretty bad. Threw out a lot of stuff that had been setup in the previous two. Those suits being smashed and destroyed made him into Tissue Man.

Thats the thing, the constant CGI fights just get really boring.

Why do I like the original Iron Man so much? It has an interesting adventure start. Then you have the whole man cave development section which is fun. It's not constant smash smash smash thump thump thump.

Comics crossover all the time. It's the "Marvel Universe" after all. It's a shame movie rights prevent the X-men and Fantastic Four from helping since they always play a role. Especially Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) since his brain is used most for getting them out of world / universe / dimensional trouble.

The kinda short, no spoiler version is: Infinty War is Thanos acquires (through power and trickery) The Infinity Gems, which when paired with the gauntlet, make you God (not a god, GOD). He allows (yes, allows) EVERYONE to come and challenge him, due to arrogance, and other reasons I won't spoil. There is a ton more to it. It's my favorite comic arc. I will be shocked if they are very faithful to the source material, but I kinda have my hopes up since it's spread across two movies. I would suggest reading the comics after the films if you find it at all interesting.

Hoping my infintiy war comics will spike after pt1 one comes out, I'm starting to sell off my collection. Deadpool did wonders for me.
