Drop an M.2 SSD for boot and that would be killer. Only 2 SATA ports and both are occupied.

If someone is looking for a new desktop in this price range, this is a lot of bang for buck.

Here is a playlist of videos about the computer and upgrades. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5-PBA-wl9UsOLaU0HfWUA2Js1yxiGax2

The off lease computers in this thread might be better if looking to buy used. https://hardforum.com/threads/dell-optiplex-790-mt-ebay.1922759/

From the looks of it in the video I watched, it has a standard mATX form-factor motherboard, standard PSU with standard connectors, and a decent amount of expandability for the price. They mentioned that larger video cards might have clearance issues, but paired up with a bus-powered 1050 Ti it looks like a solid 1080p box.

Only problem I have with it is Acer.

But for that price, might be willing to ignore such issues.

Lol.... What?

Acer uses crap components in their laptops/desktops, which is why they have such low prices.

The only exception on that is their monitors, which are competitive with other makers on quality.

It's up to you if you want to take a chance here. But it's hard to hate on a quad core for $400.

I've had three different Acer monitors with no problem. Also had two laptops, latest of which I bought in 2015. It lasts longer than 80% of the laptops available right now in the market.

So I'm pretty sure that it's not a brand thing.

I bought an Acer Aspire E 15 touchscreen laptop with 5th gen i3 5005u in 11/2015 for $310 after rebate. Added a nice Samsung 850 Pro SSD and 16GB of ram. I only have ~$500 in it, and it has been rock solid. A buddy who owns an engineering firm got 3 of the exact ones, and I upgraded those in a similar fashion (except with 8GB), and his employees rave about how much they like them. No issues whatsover. I like Acer laptops.

I've used Acer for about everything in the past and even now. I recently purchased an Acer 15 w/ 7200U, GTX 950M 4GB GDDR5, 1080P Screen, 256GB M2 SSD for $449.99. Don't tell me that's trash too simply because it's an acer? When I received it the only thing that was "gimped" was the screen, it was a TN panel but even that was hard to complain about for what I got the laptop for.

Laptop, Monitor's, PC's. Sure they probably weren't the go-to PC brand back then but now and days it's hard to say Acer is trash or that they put crap components in their products. Even if they did, you're saying others don't? Lol...

Seems you just hate the brand because you want a better known brand for status reasons.

I notice they use cheaper screen's in their low end gaming laptops or use slower DDR3 vram in their GPU's but I still don't see how putting in a lower spec part for a cheaper price makes them = trash. If doing that gets them sales then more power to them. It's nothing new honestly other manufacturers do it too to cut costs so they can offer their product at a cheaper price vs competitors. You want something better? Spend more. Need something on a budget? This acer will do just fine, just know what you're buying and don't spend $400 on this only to call it trash because it couldn't what you wanted it to. Just saying...
