I’ll use this as an excuse to find out how many other Ace Combat fans there are in the community. (Now you can guess where my username came from.) There aren’t many flight franchises out there, but this one has always done it for me—yes, even Assault Horizon (at least the soundtrack was good). The "seventh" game has me hyped for multiple reasons: It’s the first time the series has launched on PC, it supports VR, and it also returns to the original mythology of the series. I wonder if there will be a special edition with a bundled flight stick.

Putting gamers in the cockpit of the most advanced war planes ever developed, Ace Combat 7 delivers the fiercest air combat experience ever created through photorealistic visuals, intense dog-fighting action, a multitude of authentic and futuristic aircraft to fly, an immersive storyline, and even virtual reality! Leveraging the power of the newest generation gaming consoles, Ace Combat 7 will blow players away with the evolution of its graphics engine. Beautifully rendered cloud-filled skies and highly detailed cityscapes enhance the sense of unparalleled speed and set the stage for the most engaging aerial battles in the franchise’s storied 20 year history. Ace Combat 7 will provide an arsenal of ultra-modern super weapons and formidable enemies that the series is known for.

Oh that looks sweet. I have always wanted to get an ace combat game but just never got around for it. This may change my mind.

That and ..... DANGER ZONE!

Ohh so that's where that came from...got every soundtrack from 4 to AH saved, I was joyed to hear about AC7 and about to buy a PS4 until the latest news. Nice to see Bandai Namco make a good decision, full platform release. Too bad about PSVR exclusive, but at least there's hope for inspiring a new generation of fans for the series.

I had the original on ps1,over 20 years ago (can that be right?)!

I haven't picked up a flight sim for the Oculus yet, this might be the one for me to jump in on.

Seems like the VR (whole game is not VR) are exclusive to psvr.

Saw this yesterday and I'm super pumped. AC4 and 5 were my favorite on PS2. Even replayed both last summer and was still as fun as I had remembered.

It's made with Unreal Engine, so I'm sure mods and even VR will be added to the PC version at some point.

Oh wow good move. Love AC it's only air game I'll bother with these days. Epic storyline and emotive way to tell it too along with wicked settings. I hope more excellent titles like this realize what a shitty, limited opportunity being locked into a console actually is these days, with so much cross platform going on.
Hope more devs go this way.

The PSVR thing is a timed exculsive fellas. Secondly, this is, as AC has always been, a flakey arcade shooter, NOT a real flight sim.

Edit: To anyone who has never played an AC game before, this will be very much like the flying parts of COD:IW, or the old H.A.W.X games, with a side-order of typical Japanese kookiness.

Very excited for this game, but you should've named yourself Stonehendge because it was the better super weapon. ;)

No, it feels like a flight game, not a tacked on vehicle section. I always get a kick out of the "Ace Combat is like CoD, but with jets" even though aside from Assault Horizon the styling is entirely different. And it pre-dates CoD by at least a decade. For whatever reason people seem to jump on it because it isn't a flight sim, yet these same people play games like BF or Skyrim. My SSD will have room for both DCS installs + AC7. :)

Some people just can't handle the concept of a flight shooter game, that falls between a full sim... and a crappy vehicle mini-game add-on. You're right that it's definitely a flight game, but the simplest way to explain it is "arcade dogfighting". Basically pick any driving game that isn't a full sim like iracing, and this is the shooting/flying equivalent.

I think the thing that confuses people the most, might be that for the most part the game features realistic looking jets(there's always a few completely sci-fi things in these games), yet somehow an F-22 can carry a payload of 100 missiles. Of course in driving games that aren't simulators, you can slam into the side wall of the track at 150mph and ride it like a rail around a corner.

This does look really good. Since I've never played one of these ace combat games. I look forward to seeing what's up.

I just hope there will be no helicopter missions, it ruined Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.

I remember when the first one came out on the PS. Great game, awesome graphics at the time.

Super stoked, and on PC. So happy I don't need to pick up a PS4 just for this game. I'm really sad that I can't play VR on the Vive, I'd get a flight stick for it, but perhaps UE4 and Vorpx or something will work.

I only played AC 1 and 2. I loved the soundtrack of 1, don't remember much about 2. I do remember there was not much of a story line. I was happy with just flying and playing. Not sure I care for all the talk and story because to me AC 1 felt more like an arcade shooter and that is what I liked about it. I came from the days of 1942, Life Force, and R-type.

I love combat simming and AC is anything but that , but i did enjoy the great action in the last one i played ( AC6 ) on Xbox 360 a million years ago.

The original Air Combat was an arcade game ported to the Playstation. :) Not sure if there were any changes, but I did play Air Combat 22 (a version of the first game) on an arcade machine. 2 added a story; I played the HD version on the 3DS. 3 had a fairly detailed story with multiple paths determined by the player's choices and actions, but the story and multiple endings were cut out of the international release.

AC7 seems like it will be in many ways a prequel to 3, given it is closing in on the time frame.

Hilarious the F-104 Star-fighter is in there. Easily the oldest plane they showed in the vid.
A fav of mine as it was a mainstay of the Canadian air-force for decades. Still hold the world speed record at sea-level I believe!

Meh - if you can't hook up a Thrustmaster, CH, or even *cough* Saitek, HOTAS, it ain't a sim. :p
