World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

weird because many of the things you talk about are exactly the same problems with WoT and it kind of boils down to just how unforgiving these games are to a simple mistake that it makes you have to play in very passive ways. I mean I play both games and I am definitely fairly passive because I don't want to make that silly mistake and get focused down and die or be nearly dead minutes into the round. I definitely try but so many times I do feel these games are against me. I can watch a million videos on how to play better, try those thing and get no where with it.

and yes... stats absolutely ruin games. It make people play to numbers and not have fun. Ever since stats became a thing this has been a problem.

I hide my stats even though they are good. The game has been more fun and I think I do better.

I'd have to say you can't complain about the player base as long as it's not toxic. I think the potatoes going away is unrealistic.

I blame MM and you can see it during ranked. One team will be completely steam rolled and at the end you see the winning team had rank 1 players and the other team had shit. Potatoes won't go away but they can be distributed way better.

Business don't be afraid to one day come back. We won't judge. :)

The MM system itself destroys ranked. I'm 100% convinced more goes into it than just ship rank.

Ship rank.
Captains skill levels of available players
Skill levels of available players
Latest windage.

I feels to me like it strives to keep individuals at a 50\50 win\loss rate.

I'm also getting tired if playing my Tier 8 Bismarck in Tier 10 games when there are obviously enough tier 8 Players to build a proper game.

Alrighty then. I'm loving the Molotov and Budyonny. They are almost as fast as some of the DD's in their tier. They have great velocity, pretty damn good accuracy, and good maneuverability.

The molotov in skilled hands, is well beyond any T6 in gun ability :p (IMO)

So I think I'm getting a bit better at CV play

still need to work on being consistent, the key is to focus on either defense or attack, If i try to split, I do shit on both.

since I cant hardly keep track of my ship, plus a few around me, there is no way in hell I will ever be good enough to be a potato in a CV.

there, thats its, 'nuff said about my CV skills

Hey man, I used to suck in CV, i learned the ins and outs, and got a bit better, it gets harder at higher tiers with more planes, and way more AA. But, after grinding the lower tiers, you pick up a bit of skill in it. The Ryujo was easy in comparison to the rest, :)

my main problem is the lack of ability to pay attention to everything and keep track in my swiss cheese mind of whats happening, needs to happen, or already did happen.

ya know, 10 or 15 yrs ago I would have had no problem with it, but these days, the old melon is getting kinda rotten

I know Digital-X does, but does anyone else her WoWs around in wide-screen (i.e. 32, 34 or the new 38" 21:9 monitors) ?

One of my biggest gripes with some US ships have been the shell arcs. The shells can literally leave the screen for seconds at a time. 3840 X 1600 or 3440 X 1400 has really gotta help with that I'd think.

I play on 3 27's @ 5780x1080. I don't recall shells leaving the screen, I'll keep an eye for that. Any ship in particular? I have the entire BB and DD line, no USN CL's.

LOL I would hope not :)

I bet that's useful for spotting *&%^ DDs sneaking up on ya.

Having more screen real estate definitely helps in this game.

Just got the Neptune... holy hell 8.6km AA. The Edinburgh did pretty good with AFT+manual AA, the Neptune has to be hilariously good. That's 40% more area covered over 7.2km...

are there any mods or anything you can do to move elements of the UI when in battle around? I would like to see the map and chat box moved (for me closer to center of screen, still near the bottom)

I think I saw something like that in Aslains mod pack. Not positive though. I'm at work or I'd check.

WG wants you to CV this weekend, so they are sweetening the pot. /Unfortunately, they also decided to give anyone who sinks a CV 500 extra XP. 1) Odd way of encouraging CV play, 2) like they didn't already have enough lone wolves hunting the last CV instead of PTFO.

well, I had an atrocious weekend.. wanted to play, had time to play, but when I started playing... EVERYTHING went to hell in about 4 handbaskets..

sigh, the couple games I could get in were even worse.

Too many games where one side only loses a ship.... Although every game is a good game in the Neptune! heheh.

Debating which T7 for ranked. I had fun the Lobsterblysk that one season. The scharnie could be fun but BBs get screwed so easy... Atlanta or Belfast?

Last season I ranked out with the kooter. DDs are tempting since you can get top exp pretty easily.

I think I am between the Belfast and Lobsterblysk. I am near top of the charts with the Shiratsuyu though.

Lol, so much this :) There have been some real potato teams on both sides.
This is pretty much a prime example of the teams I have had.

Pretty much stopped playing the game until season 6 hits the servers.

Thinking that the blys, lennygrad, sims, shiratsuyu, belfast, indy, and altanta/flint are going to be the go to ships. Since, you know, it will epicenter gameplay, not dominion.

I'm gonna try Belfast, Scharnhorst, Sims, Bliska. Fiji could be interesting. Shiratsuyu for an area denial torp wall.

Tempted to "be that guy" and try a Lolorado for a few rounds. Right now I'm trying to get my RN captain to 14 points so I can have IFHE on Belfast, 1 more point to go.

Incomfing buff to Des Moines, Baltimore, New Oreleans and Erie

Des: Reload from 6->5.5
Balti: Reload from 13.x -> 10
NO : Reload from 14 -> 12

Erier. 7- 6?

Baltimore and NO should be a bit more competative now.

Des got a 9.x% DPM increase!

The Public Test server will be updated today. Here is the list of changes:

Balance changes:

  • Rare Upgrades Repair party Modification 1 and Surveillance Radar Modification 1 performance has been increased from 20% to 40% to make them more attractive - the competition in the respected slots is very high;
Flooding:

  • Maximum flooding time has been decreased by 25% (from 120 seconds to 90 second)

  • Maximum HP that can be lost in flooding has been rebalanced:

  • Low and mid tiers: Reduced

  • High tiers: Increased
Goal:

  • Increase the role of torpedoes in countering heavy ships

  • Increase the role of IJN destroyers - their torpedoes traditionally have highest chances to cause flooding:
Changes by tier:

  • I - III: - 33,3%

  • IV: -16,7%

  • V: -11,7%

  • VI: -6,7%

  • VII: -1,7%

  • VIII: +3,3%

  • IX: +8,3%

  • X: +13,3%
To increase comfort in game we have increased main caliber guns turning speed:

  • T-22 (from 10,0 degrees per second to 10,5 degrees per second);

  • Ibuki (from 5 degrees per secnd to 6 degrees per second);

  • Cruisers Marblehead and Marblehead L has received faster rudder shift (from 10,12 seconds to 7,5 seconds) to increase their survivability.

  • For the same reason, cruiser Pensacola's visibility has been decreased to 12.78 km
Main caliber guns reload time of several USN cruisers has been decreased in order to make them more attractive as damage dealers:

  • Erie (from 7 seconds to 6 seconds);

  • New Orleans (from 14 seconds to 12 seconds for top guns);

  • Baltimore (from 13 seconds to 10 seconds for top guns);

  • Des Moines (from 6 seconds to 5,5 seconds);
Speed drop penalty for flooding has been adjusted so that it is more systematic:

  • Penalty for moving forward has been decreased from 35% to 20%: USN battleships (except Arkansas Beta), Koenig Albert, Kaiser, Koenig and G. Kurfurst;

  • Penalty for moving forward has been decreased from 20% to 15% and for moving backward has been increased: Т 22, Ernst Gaede, Z-46, Ognevoy, Kiev, Leningrad, Udaloi and Khabarovsk;

  • Penalty for moving forward has been decreased from 20% to 15%: Srorozhevoy, Derzkii, Izyaslav, Blyskawica, Smith, Tashkent;
Fixes:

  • Fixed error that caused incorrect display of shell flying time if shooting range upgrade and spotter were mounted.

  • Fixed incorrect smokes setting: Now, the last smoke cloud is deployed at the end of smoke generator work cycle. That will prevent some inconvenient

  • game scenarios, especially with RN cruisers that have short smoke deploying timer.

  • Fixed mismatch between circles capture indicators on the timer and on the minimap in Epicenter mode on "Warrior's path" Cyclone is turned off on the map "Warrior's path" in Ranked Battles

  • Upgrades list in port has been set to the same order for all ships of all nations

  • Fixed error that caused some new upgrades be unavailable for ships that fit the requirements for them.
As the British cruiser smoke is an often mentioned topic on this forum, please check and provide feedback!

And the Nerfapalooza on lower tier IJN Destroyers continues. Bastards.

Man, I swear, the teams... the TEAMMMMMSSSSSS

I had a Missouri ram me in the kurfurst (my teammate) into an island, for 5 fucking minutes, he would not move, or reverse, the first 6 minutes of the game, totally wasted. I couldn't even fire a shot. Their friendly neighbourhood shimakaze saw a giant kurfurst humping the island along with the MO, and decided to send us some presents, luckily that killed him and set me free. His name was torako? or something like that... I ate 2 torps still, thanks to the sheer size of the kurfurst .

As RNGesus must have had a soft spot for me, Torako was on the enemy team the following game, and I was in the kurfurst again, I caught him broadside at about 15k :> The rest is history.
