Hey guys, I'm currently in the market for a new build after 4+years and trying to decide what GPU(s) to go for.. I've looked over countless reviews and websites, but always prefer here to be the final decision.

So far my options are as follows:

GTX Titan X Pascal
1080's SLI

Or wait 1 1/2 months for 1080 TI?

What do you guys honestly think...?

Thanks.

I would go for Titan X Pascal. The 1080Ti will probably be introduced near the time that AMD will launch its VEGA GPUs. So i don't think that 1080Ti will be released in a 1 1/2 month (*personal opinion)
( P.S. What CPU / RAM / PSU do you have? )

Hey man thanks for the reply.. this is my current build list that I'm looking at ordering.

Going to be re-using my AX1200I and my Corsair 900D.

P.S. If you have any recommendations or edits to my list, feel free. Was really only stumped on the GPU, but have 2 votes for the Titan XP.

I believe the 5960x cpu to be better than the broadwell line besides the 6950x which I'm not really interested in the 1.6k price tag.

Titan Pascal now, or if you can wait, 1080ti, not worth going SLi with the way the support for mGPU has been declining.

What resolution will you be targeting with this build, and what games? What's your desired framerate, and preferred settings level?

You know, when somebody I know asks how best to spend $1200, I usually want to know a little bit more about the decision :D

The GPU is the easiest part of a build to upgrade, so going overkill is not always the best judgement call.

If you're comfortable with the cost of the Titan X, go ahead and buy one. There isn't anything faster, nor is there anything actually faster coming in the foreseeable future.

No one ever got done playing a video game and thought "Man, I wish I'd played that with a slower graphics card."

Relevant to the discussion though: what display are you using?

I'm currently using the Acer XB271HU 144hz 1440p and I'd prefer to max out all my settings on all games that I play.. you know how it is haha.

Yeah you're probably gonna want one (or maybe two) Titan XP's to push 1440p at a reasonable refresh rate. The only game I can't max even with two Titans is Watch Dogs 2 but that is mostly due to bad game optimization I think.

With a 1440P display, using two titans is going to be more about penis measuring than it is about actual user experience, especially with a G-sync panel.

Start with one Titan. If you're not satisfied, make sure you're not CPU bound in the games you play before adding a second one.

I have a 1660 v3 (same as 5960x) @ 4.5ghz and one Titan X running Battlefield 1 @4K Ultra settings over 60 FPS. Never dipped under 60. I would do the same as others said. Get one first and see how it's running. You can always buy a second.

Hey fellas, I went ahead and bit the bullet... I bought the Titan-XP!! I figure it's the fastest card at the moment... and even after the 1080Ti release it's still the top, probably not by much tho? And if I truely wanted SLi I could always get another and it'd top the 1080's/1080Ti's anyway, or atleast i'd hope so.

With the Titan X Pascal you have the fastest card available right now. If you decide to get another, even with titles that don't support SLI, you'll still have the fastest card(s) available right now. Sounds like win-win to me. Congratulations on your purchase!

The Titan XP does not disappoint when it comes to performance. Everything will run buttery smooth at 1400. Congrats!

Nice. I have not been disappointed by any game at 1440p 144 Hz so far. Specs in sig.

The 6900K is actually the sweet spot in the Broadwell-E line for gaming and it costs about the same as the 5960X while having around 10% more IPC. If I were going for a new platform at this time, though, I would wait for the recently announced Skylake-X.

Aw man, I already ordered the 5960x... I did a lot of extensive researched and thought that the 5960x was the better bet compared to the Broadwell-E line besides of course the 6950x which was almost double the price. Did I make a mistake and should've went with the 6900k? They were literally the same price more or less, but choose the 5960x from everyone else I spoke too..

I wouldn't fret. Both processors are already overkill for gaming. We're talking about maybe 1 FPS difference in minimum framerates at a given resolution.

I thought the 5960x normally OCs better then the 6900 so everything is a wash as in performance.

The other benefit of the 6900K is better support for higher memory speeds.

Well I just ordered some CAS15 3000mhz 8x32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX memory that should work fine at it's X.M.P profiles.. I've seen a lot of high memory with 5690x so I hope for the best.
