I've been using Asus GTX670-DC2OG-2GD5 for 3 years and it is dying due to white lines appearance on screen. What graphics card to buy for replacement? My budget is under $230.

Really depends on what you are using your graphics card for currently and if you want to change that (i.e. increase your performance). Some more info would help as to what your requirements/needs or expectations are. GTX670 level performance can be had for well under your budget via a number of different options. The RX 480 may be overkill if you would prefer to come in at well under budget and have performance comparable to what you had before. Buying something used will also increase your options dramatically as well.

For that price you probably want an RX 480. The 4GB models can be had for well under $230, and I've even seen some of the 8GB models around there when on sale.

I saw this one yesterday on the Newegg email that is $230 AR for a good card:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...sktopGraphicsCards-_-14137023-S0A&ignorebbr=1

It's at the top end of your budget, especially with MIR, but I've heard good things about this one.
^^ x2 ... a good card.

The 4g model is currently $200 w/rebate. Got mine for $169.

I've really been debating between getting a 1060 6GB and a 1070. I only game at 1080p but want 60FPS in everything (6600k cpu). I just can't believe the cost difference between this and a 1070.

You can always use the extra performance, even if you're limited by your refresh rate. Nvidia has Fast Sync, which is exactly what you want. You can use it, get VSync benefits (no tearing) and still enjoy the smoother gameplay of 100+ FPS.

Or you can use DSR and/or extreme AA for even better IQ.

I am still at 1080p (plan is 1440p) but don't regret for one minute getting the 1070.

I'm also a bit biased since I love mine.
It's a great " budget " performer.

Before buying graphics card, there are other things to consider such as casing, CPU cooler, etc right?

With detail settings maxed out, does graphics card generate more heat and therefore its fan spin faster and make loud noise? Will it affect CPU cooler too?

It depends. If you lower settings + cap FPS then it'll be quieter.

if you max out settings, 2 scenarios can happen: All parts of the card are hit equally, so maximum heat is pumped out OR a bottleneck is hit, which makes the rest of the card under utilized, which lessens heat somewhat.

My casing has 1 rear fan, no top vent so no top fan, and no front fan. If I use GTX 1060 with 60 FPS and ultra settings, does it generate more heat therefore make loud noise in my casing?

What sorts of games do you play?
Here's my spec:

CPU: i5-3470
Mobo: GA-H77M-D3H
RAM: 2x Kingston 4GB DDR3
PSU: S12II-620W
Case: CM K280
Fan: 1 rear fan

I've come down to these two choices: GTX 1050 Ti 4GB or GTX 1060 3GB (or 6GB) Which one to buy to fit my current spec? I play Overwatch mostly or maybe other games in future.

I asked the same thing about the 1050 ti vs 1060 3GB and the consensus was that the 1060 3gb is leaps and bounds better, for a modest increase in price.

I think for a game like Overwatch, I'd want the best I could get away with.

Edit- stupid autocorrect. Overwatch= Overeat Check. Really? Lol

If I'm not mistaken, that card was released around October, 2012. Have you considered carefully taking off the heat sink, carefully cleaning off the thermal compound, and putting on some non-conductive thermal compound?

Your processor is a Ivy Bridge generation processor. It's a pretty good processor.

The 1060 is a better performing graphics card than the 1050Ti from the specs I read. What monitor do you have?

60Hz monitor

Samsung S22B350. 1280x720 resolution for desktop and game. HDMI. So GTX 1050 Ti is enough for me?

No offense but you're running a potato computer. Why spend money on it? For that resolution 1050 Ti would be overkill. Just keep it and save money until you can upgrade cpu and monitor along with that video card?

What are the specs that made you say I'm running a potato computer? Because my graphics card was dead. So what graphics card should I replace with my current spec? But my monitor still in good condition. Why would I change it?

personally, i would either go with a 4gb 480 for $170ish or step up to a geforce 1070 for $350

it was $239 ? now its $284 with a small rebate. too close to 1070 pricing imho.
What is your definition of "too close?" most 1070's are $375+....we are talking about an almost $100 difference minimum.

if you wait a week or two it's almost certain the Fury Nitro will drop to $240 range again --- this has happened a half dozen times in the last three months as the slickdeals history proves. Just setup an alert on slickdeals.

The card is significantly faster than a 1060 or RX480. It's closer to 1070 performance.

Then get a 480. at $239 i felt the fury was compelling, but much over that play it safe and get a 1070. In most benchmarks the fury and rx480 are pretty close. While the 1070 seems to be a significant improvement without even taking overclocking into consideration. Ive had no problem finding a quality 1070s at $349 for the past couple weeks... though today it looks like they are $369.

Yeah, ive been watching the fury with a close eye. Then i google benchmarks and always decide its not worth it. You can certainly cherry pick some where it looks compelling, but im trying to wait for vega instead.

Fury X is $300 pretty regularly - same deal link at slickdeals.net and do a search.

I have a pair of Fury X cards. There are benefits to a pair of Fury X over a pair of 1070 -- besides price.

Namely that Crossfire is superior to SLI in benchmark scores -- pretty significantly.
Freesync opens up cheaper monitor options for an adaptive sync tech. Probably about $200 cheaper for an otherwise identical panel over gsync.
Pretty equitable performance to a 1070 with a Fury X single card against single card.
Cool running with the all in one watercooler - all heat exhausts outside the case, and quiet enough with the water cooler that they are not at all bothersome under full load.

But then we are at a different price point. $240 vs. $300.

I stretch my budget a bit and I choose RX 470 4GB instead of GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1060 3GB. Is it good choice and why? If I choose Sapphire Radeon RX 470 4GB NITRO+, is it quiet when idle, ultra settings when gaming with my current spec?

CPU: i5-3470
Mobo: GA-H77M-D3H
RAM: 2x Kingston 4GB DDR3
PSU: S12II-620W
Case: CM K280
Fan: 1 rear fan
Monitor: S22B350

The 4GB RX 470 will be faster than the 1050 Ti and probably slower than the 1060 3GB. However, the price/performance is pretty darn good. There's a good deal on this card today ($160 before, and $140 after MIR):
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137050

I upgraded from a 4GB 670 to an XFX RS470 last month. It's been a great upgrade so far; well worth the $150.

My thought process was:

The 1070 would be great but I didn't feel like spending $400 for 1080p
The 1060 seemed like a perfect replacement and was $230+
The 480 is usually equal to or a smidge slower than the 1060 and was about the same price
The 470 is anywhere from equal to a 480 to about 10% slower for $50 less.
The Fury is a good deal at $240 but power hungry and lacks HDMI 2.0 while also having reports of coil whine.

I figured that by the time the 470 is too slow for 1080p the 480/1060/Fury will be damn close to that point too and I'll be able to pick up a 1070/Vega/whatever for cheap.

I play esports titles mostly and I want to reduce my budget. Which one to buy? RX 460 2GB or GTX 1050? 75Hz Freesync or 144Hz Gsync monitor?

For eSports titles I'd suggest avoiding *Sync all together and just get a cheap 120/144Hz monitor, like the LG 24GM77 or BenQ XL2411Z.

If you don't play Overwatch then whichever is cheaper at the time. I think they trade blows. Me, I'm more inclined to get the 1050, just because overclocking with Pascal is much more satisfying. You can get close to 8% extra performance (per TPU) vs over 2% for the RX 460 (per TPU).OC'ed vs OC'ed the 1050 is about 15-20% faster it seems.

Also some 1050 gets you a free game. Unless there's a huge price disparity I'd say the 1050.
