The Division - officially announced for PC!

Sweet. Looking forward to it. I think they have plenty of mileage left on this if they play their cards right.
 
Looks like they will fix survivial, so single player is only single player, no grouping in that sub mode.

Agreed, Last Stand sounds like fun. I may hop on the PTS a lot more this go round.

Did they say what the new incursion was yet? Is that the one taking place on the Intrepid? I wish there was some incentive to play the incursions more. I have not played a single one since 1.4.

I'm pumped they finally expanding the dark zone. It's still the most fun place to play even with the gankers and a-holes.

Summary of the new Dark Zone areas

  • The Dark Zone has been expanded with three new areas, Dark Zone 7-9, north of Dark Zone 6 and Midtown East.
  • New Landmarks feature waves of enemies.
  • Landmarks award you with additional loot placed directly into your inventory.
  • Fast travel between Dark Zone checkpoints has become available.


Summary of Contamination events

  • New Contamination Events have been added to the Dark Zone.
  • Roughly every hour, elite Cleaners will spawn in the Dark Zone underground. Contamination in those areas will reach lethal levels, so your virus filter will not be able to resist it.


Summary of Legendary difficulty

  • Legendary difficulty mode has been added to Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant and Napalm Production Site and features new, powerful and smart enemies.
  • Legendary difficulty is the most challenging content in the game and is intended for organized groups.
  • Legendary difficulty rewards you with unique vanity items not available elsewhere in the game, on top of the regular rewards.

Summary of Exotic weapons and new Gear Set

  • Named gear pieces and weapons are now called Exotics and have been given their own color in your inventory.
  • Exotic weapons all have their own unique talent. This change is retroactive.
  • Exotic weapon sets have been introduced.
  • Exotic Caches are available as a weekly reward from Legendary difficulty missions.


Summary of Gear Set Changes

  • Alphabridge 4-piece bonus now shares the free talent from your weapons instead of all three.
  • Frontline’s 4-piece no longer removes the critical hit chance, instead it removes the effect of any mods you have applied to the shield.
  • The Reclaimer set focuses on the Support Station. Its 4-piece bonus activates all Support Station mods simultaneously. It no longer has an effect on consumables.
  • Tactician’s Authority’s buff only disappears after you use a skill.
  • A new Gear Set, SEEKR, has been added to the game.


Summary of Armor and Resistances

  • Armor has been removed as a major bonus and replaced with Health. Gear still comes with base armor and some talents will still give bonus armor.
  • Health and stamina are your primary means of toughness.
  • Current Health rolls have been turned into the new stat Resist All.
  • Resistances have become analogue instead of binary.
  • Diminishing returns have been added to status effects.
  • Other parts of the game have been rebalanced as a result, to make sure Time to Kill and Time to be Killed stay balanced.
  • All changes are retroactive.


Summary of changes to Skill Power and skills

  • Skill Power has been moved to a system similar to armor, where each new World Tier you reach will demand more Skill Power to reach the same effectiveness of your skills.
  • There’s a bigger difference in skill efficiency between low and high Skill Power builds.
  • Changes have been made to Sticky Bomb, First Aid and Shock Turret.
  • We’ve rebalanced Signature Skills and made it impossible to trigger a Signature Skill when you’re already suffering from its immunity debuff. Tactical link’s damage bonus has been lowered in PvP.


Summary of PvP balancing

  • Hip fire stability while moving has been decreased and a new hip fire camera has been added.
  • The damage gap between body damage and headshots has been lowered.
  • When combat rolling, there’s now a one second delay before you can roll again.
  • You can no longer reload your weapon while sprinting.
  • Medkits can now be used at full health and remove certain status effects.
  • The Rejuvenated talent has been changed to give additional resistance to status effects.
  • Adrenaline no longer gives an overheal from medkits, instead it will give a heal over time.
  • Your enemy’s health bar will flash whenever they use a medkit.
  • Survivability talents like On the Move, Battle Buddy and Critical Save have seen some balancing changes.

Summary of economy changes

  • Unlimited recalibration has been introduced. The price increases each time, capping out at five recalibrations.
  • Helping civilians reward Intel.
  • High End pistols in Survival no longer costs Division Tech.
  • Scavenger Box now scales with World Tier.
  • Some item prices have been tweaked.


  • All activities now reward their own separate experience points and award their own caches.
  • In Survival, solo players can no longer end up in games with players queuing as a group.
  • Grouping up while in a PvP Survival game has been disabled.
  • Reviving a downed player in Survival always costs a medkit.

It's talking about the credits you need to re-roll your gear tops out after 5 re-rolls. You have unlimited re-rolls but each re-roll increases in required credit until you've done 5 re-rolls than the price of the 6th re-roll is the same as the 5th.

Thanks for the updates guys, there is a lot to go over.

The first thing that jumped out to me was the exotic weapons. That why everyone said to acquire those. Is the free 3rd talent going to be unique, or are they adding a 4th talent (I doubt it but I wish that's what they'd do).

You mean the Warlord might actually be valuable now? I forget where that drops, Falcon Lost right?

So more unique vanity items for Legendary difficulty AND exotic caches?? Sounds awesome.
 
Um, gathering named weapons??

There's one new gear set coming out, and all the other changes will be retroactive, so I doubt there's anything you need to do to prepare. Just do what we always do, max out your phoenix credits, gain as many regular credits, so on patch day buy tons of basic sealed caches or anything at Special Equipment Vendor.
 
Some great changes coming in 1.6, I'm excited. I actually wish they would leave recalibration the way it is. It's just going to get even easier to min/max gear. I like that right now there's a downside to recalibrating too many times. Makes you think twice before pressing that button when it costs 30 million credits :D

Armor is being replaced with Health as a major stat, that is going to change a lot of dynamics. In fact several of SkillUp's & Marco's suggestions have made it into the game (well, PTS). I'm going to have relearn how to play, lol.

Yeah same here. I'm glad they're ditching armor. Maybe now we can truly have varied builds. I didn't realize how 'massive' this patch was going to be. I can't wait to get on the PTS to try out some of this stuff.

Quickest would be to buy one. But I don't see one for sale as of right now. The vendors do reset tonight in about an hour or so, so check back then. Just keep doing the LZ bosses, or just do Lexington, and keep an eye out if anyone gets one and ask if they'll share it?

So I wonder if the native armor rolls on gear will be higher now, or stay the same and armor mitigation will become a much smaller factor. It doesn't start to do much before 50%, so if they do not roll higher it could easily go from "Best in slot" to "pointless".

Well this has been a lot of info to sift through. For the most part I think it sounds good. There are definitely some welcome smaller changes coming, and a host of interesting larger changes. It's hard to tell how the new Armor, Health & Skill Power equations are going to affect survivability, DPS and skill balancing. It sounds like it may be similar to 1.0-1.1 where people tried to have an equal amount of all three, but we'll see what the PTS reveals.

I don't think AlphaBridge will fall off completely, but I do think it will get replaced by the new SEEKR gear set as the favored PvP build. I like the proposed changes to Reclaimer, undecided on Frontline though.

Maybe I missed it originally, but all Signature Weapons will be removed from Vendors with 1.6 and become "Exotics" that will only drop in "Exotic Caches" from Legendary Missions (guaranteed), and named Bosses (chance to drop). They will be given new, unique Talents that will be ignored by the AlphaBridge set.

Nothings been said about SMG's, but I'm going to predict a small comeback for them. Particularly the Exotic versions for use in the new DZ areas (focused more on close quarters). Although Sentry Shotgun builds could easily do the same.

The Contamination Events sound like they could go either way, I imagine they will be loved by some, hated by others.

If we don't get a PTS announcement for this weekend, I bet it will be next weekend.

Or is it lower the better? Yeah, I'm that clueless. Also I have never made/crafted anything so I need to read up on that to learn how that is done. Lots to do. I just play PvE when the mood hits me. This isn't my go to #1 game. yeah I know. Shame on me!
 
I just had to share, guess what I got? A Ninja Messenger Bag from a Field Pro Chache. I'm stoked because I never really go into the DZ and have been wanting one to complete my named gear set. Now I just need LaRae's chest piece. but she won't drop one, what a stubborn bitch....:p

Higher the Gear Score the better; the current cap is 256. You will now enter "World Tier 1" (designated in the upper left when you open the Map). As your GS increases, new tiers will open up until you hit tier 5. There is no "best way" to advance, just do the activities you enjoy and it will come with time. Faster than you might think.
 
So is it me or does the new fast travel in the DZ seem like a tool for the griefers? A PvEer cant use it because they loose all their loot which is the whole reason for being there. A griefer on the other hand can use it to quickly scoot around the map looking for targets making the "its much bigger" rationale moot.

But people do that now. It's just an extra step of walking into a checkpoint, then walking out of the DZ, then fast travel to another checkpoint. I'm glad they're removing that extra step of walking out of the DZ to fast travel. I think with the added DZ size, hopefully you'll see less griefing at least at the beginning when everyone will be in the DZ north.
 
you may want to watch this. likebutter was at the NC thing and he has a lot of comments about the changes and how they work.

example, there will be mini-gearsets with weapons (ie: the valkyria split) the caduceus will heal the entire team, alphabridge will automatically unlock all weapon talents, etc

 
Yeah good video from likebutter which covers most of it, and some things I didn't know yet either, like the dual weapon sets, and he was getting me excited for some more emotes.
 
I'm a little concerned about Health basically taking over as "best in slot" and us just exchanging one meta for another. No way to know that yet, but with the inevitable one shot multi-mines and sticky bombs, I think it will become necessity. I hope they replace all the resistances (shock, disrupt, etc) with "All Resistance" to reduce some rng when re-rolling / crafting.

This may be our longest and most debated PTS yet.
 
Forgot to mention, Autumn's Hope has a purple "5% Increased Kill XP" Stamina mod for those of you building a set for farming Proficiency Caches.

'Sort of' is the best answer I can give you. Only found in the DZ, but has the highest drop rate of any of the uniques. I've found 4 so far, and sold every one because their stats were junk. It would compliment a Banshee build, but don't see much use to it apart from taming the DZ risk.
