What Linux Distro Do You Use?

Nope, but my guess is you're aiming for VFIO?
I'm looking at using Arch Linux has my Host OS and then run Win OS has guest under Qemu, seen a few videos on YouTube of this setup and something I wanna do, use Linux for everyday use but then has Windows for gaming without dual booting when I upgrade later in the year.

I'm up to 13 days without issue, updates downloaded and applied without needing a reboot.

I personally use Ubuntu only and it seems to do a really good job. Now, I prefer to just use it in a Virtual machine but, even when I try it out on real hardware, it just seems to give me fewer issues and just works compared to the other distributions.

I'm a bit of a Red Hat fanboy, so after much trial & error, I've settled on Centos 7 with Cinnamon desktop. Background picture is my original photography.

I find that comment interesting.

Unlike a great many Linux users with an agenda against Canonical and specifically Mark Shuttleworth, I'm not that died in the wool that I really care too much for the opinions of the hardcore users and I've got nothing against vanilla Ubuntu. However, I can honestly say that vanilla Ubuntu is literally the only distro I've had issues with, which is odd in itself and I've had no problems with Ubuntu variants.

However, having said that, I'm really glad Ubuntu works for you ManofGod. With so many variations of the PC platform that we all love, I don't find it surprising that what works for one person doesn't work for another quite as easily.

[EDIT] When I say I've got nothing against vanilla Ubuntu, I have to say I'm not really a fan of the Unity interface, but that's just my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions.... :)

I use Linux Mint in a VM to play with (I'm a Linux dummy). It's really quite nice, it's just too bad there aren't versions of my software for it right now.

What software do you specifically require Snoflo?

Healthcare software only for Windows and neuroscience lab software are the big ones. I use Onenote a lot and TheBrain software. Adobe Creative Suite. Stuff like that. :)

Ah, that's difficult to work around - Professional industries with their own software developed around Windows is a pain, although I have managed to get certain software packages used by professional industry working very easily under Wine (as in, simply install just like Windows) and One Note is available using Office Online.

However, for simplicity Windows is probably the only alternative for you.

Thanks, Bullet. I will try Wine for the Adobe stuff and see what happens. Wine does support the 2010 Onenote I think but no mention of 2016 support. I will try that too and see what happens. Thanks again.

Snoflo, no worries my friend. Thanks for being open and cheerful - It's not something I'm used to on these forums.

I warn you now, setting it up is hit and miss. But there are a number of people that take this approach and swear by it, well worth giving a go.
I like a challange even if does drive me crazy after a while lol, learnt to be patient and things come together when they do.

Been getting quite a few big updates over the weekend. Currently running Kernel 4.4.0-59 and Mate 1.16.0, looked like I also got a Caja file manager update. Not too sure what the differences are yet, but i like getting new things! With two mouse clicks I also updated to the latest official Nvidia 375.26 drivers.
