Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Runs well for me and I enjoyed the D1 event. Not perfect but they got most of it right. Since its a yearly thing next year's version might even be better.

20th anniversaries aren't every year! they might have something but the next big one is 25. seems all blizz games are in on the celebration though, WOW having the most:

Nah, I just meant the D1 "Darkening of Tristram" in-game event will be playable once a year, during January, from now on

Noticed problems with performance on the 64 bit version. Lots of "chop" is the best way to describe. 32 bit runs great but notice not all options for graphics available on the 32 bit side vs 64 bit side. Single play 64 bit seemed ok for the most part. D3D sometimes thru a fit during alt-tab with 64bit mode. Also noted that after shutting down the game (not my pc), D3 64 bit did not work the next day. Would not start. No program in task manager, but the mem usage seemed to indicate d364 did not give up its allocation. Forced to reboot.

Try and quit/leave all of your communities. My game was stuttering like crazy after the last patch and almost unplayable until I left all of my communities.

Alternate music:
Pretty much any of the Metatron Omega tracks will work though. Great ambiance!

I wonder what class I should try for this season? I did a monk a couple seasons ago, also played a lot of Barb and a bit of Wizard but haven't really played Crusader, DH, or WD.

DH seems to have been nerfed, or maybe I'm just getting #&$^ drops, but at single digits paragon It's unusually hard on expert. I normally breeze right to torment 1, but I was getting one shotted by about a third of the elite mobs, and doing little damage...

More than likely I'll just read the patch notes, be disappointed, and go back to playing PoE. :/

Just picked up the Battlechest. Anything I should look out for since this is the anniversary month? Anything I should be doing right away in terms of miss-able loot?

What class would be the easiest to pickup first without any gear or anything?

Gearing any class is super easy really. They practically hand you set pieces for doing achievements. So just play whatever seems most interesting to you.

This unfortunately has turned me off from the game. Now, don't get me wrong, I prefer higher drops than when Diablo 3 first came out, where you could play for a week straight without seeing any legendary, but being able to upgrade and reroll, and the Haedrig's Gifts make the game a bit too easy to get quickly burnt out.

Oh trust me, I hate the direction they took with the game. Sets dominate everything, and sets are insanely easy to get. All they've done the last 3-4 seasons is essentially just buff the 6 piece set bonuses so that mixing and matching is even less viable.

There are some end game gear combos which combine some synergies from non full 6/7 pieces which border as crazy but effective. DH Fan of knives build apparently can take you to 95+ GR levels where the maxed out 6 pieces would stop at around 75/85 depending on the sets. It requires a bit of research and a LOT of grinding to make something up that works. I messed with a movement Strafe build for awhile which was fun while the 6 piece marauder's set is a bit tough to get just right and even then its fun factor isn't as high as that strafe build.

Just started the game and finished most of the anni event.

Where do I go from here? Created a DH Season 9 Char. Just do adventure mode for the loot boxes, or clear the actually story?

Just do adventure mode- the bonus materials and blueprints you get from Tyrial are great, and will transfer to your non-seasonal game after the season finishes.

Welp, I started the season journey yesterday and finished through conqueror today for my last stash tab (I missed a season I think). Total of 21 hours of play (ended at 500ish paragon). I really don't feel any pressing need to go further. Normally I would at least get to 70 by myself by starting out and playing on Torment 1 all the way through, but this time I was too lazy. I just didn't feel it.

I think last season really burned me out. I did 95 solo on my firebird wizard and then just got horrible luck for my 96+ attempts. It was incredibly frustrating, as multiple times I was within just seconds of getting into the top 25 or so. Ended at 55 instead. Nothing but disappointment at this level. I'm pretty much done with seasons. It just doesn't help that there's nothing really left for me to try that I wouldn't have an easier time trying on non season anyway. Normally sometimes I would still do something just for fun but... I don't feel any urge. Literally, there's just no drive. Normally I whimsically keep going but this time I can't drum up any enthusiasm at all.

The only thing I have fun doing is theorycrafting custom builds and maybe trying them out.

Here's one I created earlier:

Still trying to figure out its limits. To me that's more fun than actually working for leaderboards. At least this patch had some added entertainment for me, I suppose.

is this game still alive? i've been wanting to get back into it but last i played it was almost impossible to find meta groups for high grifts.

As it stands right now, pretty much everyone seems to have their own group. HC is practically dead if you don't have friends. SC is getting to the point HC was a few seasons ago. As with other people, I'm just burnt out. I start the season, grab the stash tab and portrait, and just can't really play anymore past that.

pretty much what im doing the latest 2 or 3 seasons.... im not even trying to achieve higher than GRIFT 50 just for the season journey achievements.. taking it everything relaxed..

While the primal ancients look nice, it is just more of the same. I didn't actually get one, (lag was too bad on PTR), there were several being linked in chat.

In this 2015 GDC session, Diablo 3 game director Joshua Mosqueira discusses how Blizzard managed to remove the controversial Auction House, about the evolution of randomness at the heart of the Diablo experience, and how the value of focusing on the fantasy guided this and other major decisions to improve the content that went into Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls

I like the new patch, frees up a lot of stash space, just need to level up these gems and add them to some gear.

Anyone going to do Season 10 on the 31st?
I will more than likely give this whole thing a go again. I skipped at least the last two seasons. Maybe more.
If people want to start up together, let me know. I'll probably be going Wizard. Would love to have a diverse group or to create a set party to move up with (Monk, Barb, etc).

I have been playing the seasons, halfheartedly. Season 10 will probably be my last. About time to move on and grind someplace else

I have been thinking about buying the game for PS4 Pro since consoles now have seasons. Slightly different game mechanics with a controller. Perhaps enough for me to like the game again. Played pretty hardcore up to about season 7 then got bored of it.

The game is a grind fest. When it's fresh, it can feel fun. But doing it over and over constantly just doesn't. So, I took season 8 and 9 off. Ready to dip back in.
It's probably time honestly for me to move to another clan as well. [H] just isn't active.

I am down for another Season. I didn't play much this last season, spent 99% of my gaming time playing Overwatch.
