Hey all,

speccing out a next build and I'm gonna use the SG13 for it. Going to be running an EVGA 1080 Hybrid on the front intake, so putting the CPU on air. My understanding is that the SG13 has the same CPU heatsink clearance as the SG05 if you use an SFX PSU.

Have my eye on the bequiet Shadow Rock LP, but it would only leave ~6mm clearance between the PSU and the HSF. You think this would hurt the thermals too much? I plan on running the PSU reversed so that it "snorkels" out the top, would be running approximately 50% load on a 700W PSU. I considered running a second radiator on the front (just an AIO), but heard that it was inefficient. My primary interest is keeping the GPU cool for OCing.

There was another cooler that caught my eye as well: Reeven RC-1001b Brontes. It's almost as good for cooling, would leave ~23mm clearance, but I can't seem to find one in Canada.

Any input?

The SG13 might not have the same SFX heatsink clearance as the SG05 due to the required SFX adapter.

I wouldn't recommend this setup. I don't think it's a good idea to try to cool a CPU with this little space and on top of that using warmed air from the GPU cooler.

You've definitely given me some pause. I was concerned that thermal performance on the CPU wouldn't be ideal. I may shop around for a different case, but I really love my SG05 and the SG13 seems like a step in the right direction.

You have an opinion about running a dual radiator on the front and maybe modding in a second fan? Be a fan>rad>fan>rad sort of thing with the first fan on the outside of the case.

E: I guess my primary interest is pushing as many frames as possible in a small case using general market components, I have a 144Hz display. Definitely having a strong OC on the GPU is the way to do this and the EVGA Hybrid seems to be the one.

If I were you I'd just get an M1.

I don't know anything about stacking rads.

I would put a 120/140 radiator in front, put a fan on it that blows air through the radiator and out of the front. Then cool the CPU with a normal heatsink of your choice. This way the radiator fan helps to remove some hot air from the case and around the CPU, at the cost of reduced performance of the radiator. But I would try that and see how it behaves.

The M1 can fit a 240 radiator or two single 120, but suffers from impractical mounting of those radiators in my opinion.

I do think the M1 is a beautiful case, but I'm not prepared to pay almost $400 CAD after tax, shipping and customs for a case. Found some good data over at xtremesystems regarding radiator sandwiching...I think I'll take some time to pore over this, and maybe go with a dual AIO in the front with some gentlephoons or some other very high pressure fans. Noctua Industrial and phoons are the best two I can name in this category. Gonna take some dimensions down and mock them up in sketchup too, figure out what actually fits.

E: Regarding the 140mm radiator, it won't fit with a GPU that large in an SG13. Using the rads in an exhaust configuration is interesting, I'll definitely try both options. My goals are lowest temps for the GPU, having the CPU running a bit warmer is ok w/me, but I don't want it hot either.
