YouTube Denies That It Is Unsubscribing Users

I find it amusing that the content creators on YouTube are up in arms because YouTube is proving that it holds YouTube's interests as a whole above that of individual channels. I'm shocked. Shocked I say!

You like so seriously totally missed out on the valley girl youtube subscriptions project manager.
She was just as bad or worse. Actually I made it through his cringe voice, but had to jump ship after her third sentence. How in the shit she got a job of any importance I will never know.

>i work on developing new features for youtube

She has been a complete failure in that case.

>youtube doesn't unsubscribe people, its part of the whole experience
(faint laughing heard in the background at 0:46)

>we've looked at over 100 individual cases
>I work with a team of engineers, designers, etc

I could do this many as in individual in about 15minutes, manually browsing the data..Assuming the tools available to them..I'd expect a survey of thousands of channels. What is this horseshit?

Meh. I don't subscribe. I just make bookmarks of the videos page of users I follow.

If subscriptions were important they would show all the videos from your subscribed channels in your subscription feed -- they leave videos out. Also when I go to Youtube.com when signed in the subscription list would be the main thing shown, not the recommended videos. I literally have to scroll down 2 full pages to get to any mention of my subscribed channels. I can click over the subscription feed button on the left, but if someone has 50+ channel subscriptions they routinely watch it shouldn't take multiple clicks to see the channel feed.

Yeah I've noticed they're picking and choosing what the sub list shows. I think it might only show channels you've watched in the last X days.

I haven't been unsubscribed from any channels.

P.S. They take it SO SERIOUSLY guys, don't hate!

couldnt watch the video, the scripting and rehearsed responses were just too cringe worthy

What I noticed is YT hates when you go to a channel regularly that isn't one of their major YT stars, or one that's 'sanctioned', even if it has like 2-3 videos a day, it just won't show on your page any more. Sure it'll give you some mildly related, crappy pixelated compilation video of the same shit you saw 5 years ago as a suggestion. Especially if it's something less mainstream e.g. 1320video some street and track drag racing, with a decent amount of illegal street racing.. no fun for you! Watch SJWs!

I tell you what. I got it bad. The other day my own YouTube channel unsubscribed me.

I couldn't even start the video, look at those dumb smiling faces. I don't want to hear a single word overlaid by their forced enthusiasm.

This is true and not a shock. I love 1320 I watch his videos all the time and you're right now that I think about it I hardly ever see them in my home youtube screen. It's getting to be like reddit. First it was good, then mainstream came in. Then you had to find good sub reddits to still have a good experience.

I think it's fair to say that wimpy guy would not survive in Texas? :p

Thats why you dont use the main home page for youtube if you only want to see what the channels you subbed to have posted. Click on the subscriptions button on the left and then switch the view to list view and bookmark that page. I have never been to the main yt home page because its all suggested crap. I am also subbed to 1320 video, bay area racing, that racing channel, and a bunch of other "illegal activity" channels and i always see what they post as soon as its up. Im subbed to about 80 different channels right now and i never miss any new uploads.

Why is this an issue? Is life that easy now that some people are up in arms thinking YouTube is unsubscribing people from channels? For one, why would they do that and two, why would anyone care?

I was dragged to a movie by a friend who had kickstarted it and therefore got a bunch of tickets. I didn't realize until we got in that it was some sort of collective of youtubers who got together to make a movie. Long story short the movie was awful, but the worst part of it was that the movie was full of in jokes and references to their various youtube channel crap. So throughout this movie every couple minutes the entire audience except me and few others erupts in laughter, especially these obnoxious tweenager girls behind me that would squeal, at some injoke I didn't get. Frankly I hope youtube goes under completely so all these assholes have to get real jobs. The whole concept disgusts me.

Who uses the subscribe feature on YouTube anyway?

Total non-issue.

I do for a few channels. Retro video games, build your own PC (8/16 bit from TTL's, etc.), failarmy.

I really don't care. I've probably missed a few things, but I have no fucks in one pocket and none in the other. I have no vested interest in it. For content creators I can see the issue. For viewers? If you're expecting a video and don't see it, go to their page. There it is!

Youve never been to Austin then.

Keep Austin weird! :)

Austin - and to a lesser extent the DFW and Houston areas - are the oases in an otherwise wretched place I wouldn't want to set foot in :p

Oh i agree, small TX towns suck so bad. I live in one.

I'm sorry to hear that. I always assumed the people who lived there predominantly just liked different things than I do, and thus lived there by choice.

Ever considered moving?

At the very least more populated areas tend to come with better Internet plans :p
