DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Me too like #2 most. Really didn`t expect this large improvement by just a litte slit. thanks for testing dondan ! For me now it is worth thinking about it :)

My idea about mounting is something like that:

vipz: I love your idea using the round corners for the rear protrusions. But we will have one problem with this version, what will be if a customer buys only the left side Window Kit. This user will have a case with two different rear protrusions.
Offer optional non-windowed side panels with the rear rounded corners :D

Or, keep the old pull-tabs but stick with the roundrect window. I think that still looks better than the window with the weird corners.

Corsair SF 450 arrived ;) gonna install it in few hours and will give u a conclusion about the noise ;)

Edit:

Installed the power supply... man are these cables short ! will be perfect for the dan case, but for an mid tower its stupid :D have to put the corsair on my tower to connect alle cables :D

Today I made some prototype Window Panels out of cardboard with my plotter, to test some designs. Here are the results:

Wow, didn't think the holes would make that much difference.
If the cpu was starving for air, wouldn't it be the same for psu? So maybe more intake near the front... Like #2

Agree, super interesting with the significant difference in temperature - makes the window panels option much more attractive.

What you think about the noise? I have mine in a Ncase M1 - I do not think I have heard it even once :D

Yea its really quiet. But now i got coil whining with my R9 390 :( and that is actually not quiet :D
well, thats the downside of a single rail power supply

+1, I never realized GPU coil whine was sensitive to the power supply

Hi Ranix,

you also need the Thermalright AXP100 classic mounting stuff and fan to use that cooler on a 115x socket. Furthermore two fan Anti-Vibration rubber for mounting the Thermalright fan under the heatsink. Maybe you can get the Kit and fan without the heatsink if you contact Thermalright support. If you plan to use it on a 2011 Setup you also need the Thermalright Narrow Ilm kit and mod with a saw.

Hi Dan,
Could you provide some more details on this mod? I'd like to improve temperatures from the T318 and am interested in trying this.

Also, really loving the progress on the window designs. Looking forward to seeing this become a reality!

Thanks!

Here are the two most vodet as rendering and the DAN logo as third option, because some users asked about it.
Don't wonder about the white shine around the corners. This is only a lighting problem in my rendering scene.

And in classical presentation:

what if you cut out the dan logo so its an air vent? or is it cut out?

edit and are those really cpu temps or are those gpu temps?

Yes CPU Temps. I used only the left side for rendering because my scene was prepared for it.

instead of Dan maybe do A4-SFX? People who are not in the know may wonder why your pc says Dan on the side. Just a thought

How much better temp would B (the horizontal slit) get if it were 50-100% wider?

Also, with the cutout(s) in the window, can the standoffs be shorter?

I really like the round corner. for me the best design so far.
bur not a fan of all those cut. I would rather have it feet only the gpu side with no air vent.

in tempered glass ;)

I definitely like the rounded corners best. But what if the two back corners of the window were sharper to match the back corners of the side panels; I think that would look great.

Dan Great work! what would u think about A + B (underline Dan)

I wanted to make myself a Custom Panel (plexiglas with lasercutter), but your Design looks better and better :D

Great job with the pannels dondan !
For me the best option will be the one with round corners and orizontal cut with "A4" instead of "DAN". This is for the cpu side, for the gpu side i still prefer the very first option with vertical strips or something else with that window size (or maybe just one orizontal cut?).
Anyway, i will post some of my ideas later.

Hey Dan, if you are after Temps now, DO NOT FORGET ABOUT PSUs!!!

Good sfx PSUs are NOT cheap...

And they DO NOT have the "cooling tech" that our CPUs and GPUs have...

Just a reminder...

PLEASE, make some tests or benchs and let us know what's going on with the psu temps...

Even i (and i think everybody else too...) forgot about psu cooling looking at the shining glass...

Dan, speaking of CPU temps. Do you have a comparison chart, graph, or table between Cryorig C7 and Nexus Low 7000 R2? I can get the Nexus cooler thru onlline but the problem is resourcing the mounting kit for AXP-100 and the TY-100 fan.

We have holes in acrylic window (A, B, C options). What do you think about window embedded in panel (without 5mm space)? Or fully acrylic window with holes?

Personally i don't want to further increase the size of the A4 with the acrylic panels, but that's just me... Afterall, smaller size was the premise of this case. Panel embedded would be prefered. Imho.

C is the only solution that makes sense. You get glass without sacrificing too much performance.

Glass is now the best shape to date.

"B" is my choice, especially with a slightly wider cut-out to lower the tempos further...........
