We're not, but some people always feel the need to share their life story.

I sorta vaguely remember playing with some Atari system when I was really little, but NES was my first "real" console.

Game Gear
Nintendo Game Boy
Sega Megadrive (Genesis)
Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2
Sony Playstation 3
Microsoft Xbox 360
Sony Playstation 4
Microsoft Xbox One

Of course, PC' since my AMSTRAD CPC 6128.

While I wasn't alive when it came out, my first console was my Mom's Atari 5200 (which puts me between the 2nd and 3rd generation). I have very vague memories of my Dad showing me how to play centipede and some kind of space sim game when I was around 5. The first console I ever had on my own, though, was an SNES followed by an N64, Playstation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PS4, and then a Wii U.

Atari 2600
NES
Sega genesis
Playstation 1
Nintendo 64
Playstation 2
Dreamcast
Gamecube
Xbox
Playstation 3
Wii
Playstation 4
Wii U
Xbox One
Playstation 4 Pro

Gameboy
GBA
Nintendo DS
Nintendo 3DS XL

I've had them all but the Sega gear handheld and nintendo 64.

Even the neo geo gold system and turbo grafix duo.

Also a snk 4 Slot cab. :)

ColecoVision was the first system I played on. NES was the first system I received new. Leaving Zelda on all day because there was no save(that I was aware of at the time) while I was at school. Ah...I miss those days.

.. Zelda was one of the first, if not the first, NES cart with a battery for saves.

You shouldn't have needed to keep the console on.

Damn - I feel like a baby. I started at the fourth generation (thought TECHNICALLY - my first system was a used Apple IIe). Sega Genesis. Next system was PSX, then PS2, then Xbox, then Xbox 360.

Eventually I went back and purchased: SNES, Sega-CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, and I think one more?

My dad had the Intellivsion and I used to play Auto Racing and Donkey Kong non stop they were basically the first video games I learned how to play. I had an Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 with a grip of games also that opened up an addiction that still has a grasp on me 35 years later :D

Atari 2600
ColecoVision
(Commador64/128 after that, followed by a love affair with my Dad's Amiga)
NES
SNES and Genesis
PSX, Saturn, and N64
Dreamcast (Imported it, and bought a US version), PS2
(Started on PC around here...I have Quake 3 Arena for the dreamcast to thank for it!)
PS3 and XBox360

I haven't picked up a current gen console...with so many games coming out for the PC it's a pretty damn hard sell this time around.

Your right. I remember now I left it on because I wasn't at a save point in the game where I wouldn't have to go back and redo a hard part!

The first console I had somewhat unrestricted access to was a Wonder Wizard, which was kind of like Pong, but it had three or four variations, with different paddle configurations.

First console I actually owned was a Sega Master System.

NES
SNES
N64
Xbox
Wii
Xbox 360
Xbox One

I started on the PC after I had gotten an Xbox. But, I didn't have my own computer until 2010.

Technically I was around pre-nintendo, but I'd prefer to be honest and say I mainly started playing there. I'd post an upgrade path but I've owned most every system thats ever existed. If I had to declare my favorite systems it would be Nintendo, SNES, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, OG Xbox and everything else has been meh. I'm mostly a PC gamer these days unless something spectacular comes along like "Last of Us".

While my first official system was a vic 20, dad had some older systems that I didn't know how to play. Video games were new conceptually so more just gimmicky than anything as I recall. I feel that the NES really brought out the current console feel more than the early stuff. The vic 20 also introduced me to the concept of programming which I promptly tried to use to tease my sister by having the tv say mean things.

Parents owned Pong, but the first I remember is the Atari with the wood cabinet.

Not really sure how to answer this. My grandparents had an Atari 2600 and later an NES, but my parents never allowed me to have a console. It wasn't until college when I purchased a PSX. But I did have a computer throughout most of my life starting with the original IBM PC in the early 80s.

I started with pong but the Atari 2600 was what got me hooked on video games. The graphics were beyond awful but there was a lot of fun games and analog inputs for racing games using the paddles was way ahead of its time.

Star Raiders on the Atari 2600 was crack! Centipede was so much fun! I could envision living in a Missile Command world during the Cold War with Russia. Don't forget Defender and Pac Man!

Played a ton of NES at my friends house, but I didn't own a console until the SNES.

I guess either 3rd or 4th depending on whether ownership of the console is what's most important.

Not that anyone asked, but this question got me thinking so I went ahead and listed everything I've ever owned that I've gamed on in the order it was acquired as well as my favorite game for that generation:

Apple II (purchased in 1979 I believe) - Uninvited

SNES / Genesis - Earthbound (but really there are probably 20 games that I loved just as much)

PowerPC 6100 - Marathon 2: Durandal or Escape Velocity

N64 / PSX - Mario Kart and Goldeneye and FFVII

Gameboy - Pokemon Yellow

Pentium III (Voodoo 3) - Baldur's Gate I & II

PS2 / GameCube - Super Smash Brothers (still play it) and GTA III

Pentium IV (Radeon 9500 pro) - Wolfenstein: Enemey Territory

Pentium IV (Radeon X800XL) - World of Warcraft

Xbox 360 - Mass Effect and Skyrim

Core 2 Duo T7700 (GeForce 8600M) - Quit PC gaming after it failed to run Crysis

Core i7 4700MQ (GeForce GT 750M - World of Warcraft (fell off the wagon for 3-4 months)

Core i5 6600K (GeForce GTX 1060) - Witcher 3 (so far)

*The Apple II was actually purchased before I was born by my father. I remember sitting on his lap playing Uninvited when I was 3 or so years old, so 1986.

snes. still remember my first games; donkey kong country, yoshi's island, battletoads and double dragon, and super metroid. this thread really made me miss those days.

Ma bought NES from the WantAd for $100 for me for my birthday. Came with Game Genie, two guns, console, about 80 games, and, WIRELESS REMOTES.

Pong
Atari 2600
NES
Tandy CoCo 3
SNES
Sega Genesis
PS1
Xbox
Gamecube
PS3
Xbox 360
Wii

I first played a Magnavox when I was a kid so I voted gen1. My first console was a Atari 2600. I also had a fiend that had Intellivision, I used to love playing the Dungeons and Dragons game on that one.

Star Raiders on the Atari 2600 was crack! Centipede was so much fun! I could envision living in a Missile Command world during the Cold War with Russia. Don't forget Defender and Pac Man!

I don't recall Star Raiders but I played the others quite a bit. Pac Man wasn't nearly as good as the arcade version but it was still a lot of fun, Qbert on the other hand wasn't worth playing on the 2600. I would add Pitfall(1&2), Asteroids, Donkey Kong Jr., Frogger, Pole Position, and Dig Dug to the list.

Magnavox Odyssey and Home Pong
2600 and Intellivision
7800
Genesis

Stopped playing consoles after this.
My brother and my parents have a Wii.

Full list, limited just to consoles:

2600
NES
Genesis/32x/SCD
SNES
TG-16/CD
Jaguar
PS1
N64
Dreamcast
PS2
PS3
360
PS4
XB1

All secondary to PC, of course.

My list:
- Nes
- Snes
- Sega Genesis
- Sega Cd ( hell yeah )
- N64
- PS1
- PS2
- Game Cube
- PS3
- Xbox-360
- Wii
- Wii U
- PS4

Pretty much had all handheld, including the game gear!

I did a good mix of PC and Console.

My first was Sega Genesis, though I had a friend down the street who had an NES a couple years before I got my Sega.

Bally Astrocade. So kinda between 1st and 2nd. My parents had Pong right before that, but the Astrocade was the first one that I played when I was around 3 years old. Still remember all the games.

NES -> SNES -> PC-Engine -> Gameboy -> PC

Those were the ones I actually owned. Only Gameboy Advance was an unowned piece of hardware that I had any significant amount of playing time. Everything else (Sega Genesis, PS1, Saturn, Wii) were passing.

NES when I was 4 years old. Mario 3 is still one of my favorite games. I played some PC games from a pretty early age too. Wolfenstein 3d came out when I was 7 and loved it (and luckily my dad had a PC unlike a lot of people at that time).

I had NES > Genesis > Saturn > Playstation > Playstation 2, and been PC gaming exclusively every since then. I've played a few games on friends Xbox/360/One but I'm not really impressed with them, especially the framerates and input lag from most big HDTVs.
